Thanks bud, i just skipped all the motorbikes info but i'll go back for a look, it might be worth while. I found a pdf from the ohlins site and it looks like the pin i've found is called a floating piston:confused:

Costco do one similar, the tubular frame looks solid almost like scaffolding.

I've just found a long pin down the shaft of the piston rod of the shocker, this pin travels right up through the part i thought had broken off. Does anyone have any knowlege of these coilovers? The pin is about 6 inches long and about an eighth of an inch in diameter, i'm not sure if the pin has a bit broken of the end as its a bit rough at one end. I was going to take the other one off to compare but knowing my luck if its not broken it soon will be lol.

Yeah i just searched on here but he was just pointing the way to a set for sale in the US on ebay. I'm not planning for a full set though as the price of these are ridiculous :headvswal Looks like i'll just have to find a way of repairing this one.

I've been searching the internet for this suspension and i'm getting nowhere fast, can anyone point me in the right direction as all the searches i've done are bike suspension but i can't find anything for 300zx.

Here's a pic what do you think are they no use now?

I jacked the car up today to undo the bottom bolts of the gearbox to remove the engine, anyway while it was up on the axle stands i noticed that the top of the front strut sticking out the side of the spring so i removed the suspension and it turns out they are Ohlins coilovers but the top has come away from the gas strut. Is there any way of repairing this as they seem quite new. I'll post a pic in a minute but it looks like the top had little ballbearings in the groove to hold it in place. Does this mean they are fecked? I hope not as its another expense i cannot afford to replace.:(

I'd say its a genuine Strosek, i felt the weight of it before BAZZ had taken it to the couriers and the weight and quality is far better than the Strosek bumpers i had. In fact both the front and rear bumpers i had didn't even weigh half the weight of yours. Also BAZZ has a comfirmation email from Strosek to say its one of their cars as he was trying to identify the make of the suspension as it says Strosek on them but they are actually Tokico and Strosek put their stamp on them. HTH.:)

She is the dishwasher lol. I was looking at the one on ebay i think they are £105 delivered from Germany, also looked at screwfix but there too small.

I've always used Smiths in Coatbridge for skimming the heads and they've always come back as dirty as i gave them lol. I suppose if i had asked if they did a cleaning service then they would have, although its only a small workshop with a couple of guys working there. A parts washer is something i would probably use again & again, where abouts can you get them from.

I was going to get them skimmed afterwards so thought it would be ok. Can you hire a parts cleaner? When i used to work we used a mega-sonic bath filled with IPA but don't know if you can hire this sort of stuff.

Is shot blasting the preferred method for cleaning up your cylinder heads? I'm going to be stripping mine down and rebuilding them but want them looking nice and clean. Whats the best method for doing this and how much does it cost per head. Thanks in advance.:)

The last time i spoke to BAZZ he had sold the engine complete.

No idea mate! My mate gave me them (set of 4) he said they were from his Zed. He arrived when the Scottish Cup Final was on so i wasn't paying much attention lol. Two wheels were good with good tyres the third is split the same as the one in the pic but still has the tyre. I don't know if they were on the front, rear or from the same side. You can actually line the broken pieces up and it just looks like a hairline crack. They are not my cup of tea but just to see what kind of response i would get i emailed pics to http://www.alloywheelrepairs.net to see what their response would be. Needless to say they have not replied:D although when you see some of the wheels they have repaired you wonder why anyone would want them repaired.

While i was watching that i thought surely not:rofl: Look after your beaver lol.

I'm not sure i'd even use the 2 good wheels (maybe for moving the car about) but to have both alloys split right down the middle with no signs of impact make me question their durability. They are Matrix alloys? I've never heard of them.
