my final tuning session with steve at fc tuning
Impressive graphs... Although 70bhp transmission loss does seem a little high! Especially since your at the fly is 285 in the first place, so that means your car was 215 at the wheels before you started which seems very low. Have got an ATW for standard? Maybe i'm mis understanding but I dont see how the transmission loss can change. It surely should be constant per car (obviously different types of car, and even different cars of the same type will all be different fair enough) Just seems a hell of alot!

Me at work......
I'm a massive train geek... lol even have a model of an APT somewhere although my real interest lies with proper trains, well proper railway engines really. Anything with a fire and cylinders and I'm

Me at work......
Modern tilting trains "lean" with the track and simualte super elevation, its to allow them to take corners at higher speeds and remain stable. Modern cars do something similar with adaptive damping, where it firms up the suspension under load All started with the APT back in the alte 70's i think, but it made people sick so it was dropped. Until virgin started using the pendolino, with much more advanced technology its all the rage these days it seems ;)

Will my JWT (Auto) chip work on a manual car?
The adjusters I think put the ecu into a diagnostic mode? I think the standard ecu has it but maybe that oen you have has the knobs extended? Either that or some people have more than one map on their ecu and its a way of changing between them? I have since been told that Mine's ecus are a bit agressive for UK fuel, although mine never had any bother I will admit and even as an auto it did seem to go well ;). I believe there are lots of different mines ecu maps so luck of the draw really!

To all the kids who fail their GCSEs this week, it's important you remember 2 things:
Got me right in the mood for McDog for lunch! I wonder how many trainee badges they'll need. Suporting the badge making economy in one way or another! Actually when I did my GCSE's my old IT teacher used to taunt us with what he called the "Burger King Express" which is what we would be on if we didnt work. (I hasten to add it wasnt solely aimed at me, more the interesting charactors in the group - Dream team as they were affectionatly known LOL) Infact on my day of leaving GCSE's we did a little modification to his car

Will my JWT (Auto) chip work on a manual car?
+1 Should be fine - I left my auto mines ecu (infact i seem to recall that all chipped ecu's will say automatic when read with conzult for this exact reason) in the car when it was converted.

Does that include the 150k that didnt get into uni... bwhahahaha! Actually its a good thing, 150k less pointless degrees and 150k x the average student loan less to pay back!

Hi there - a few questions
Typically UK models are cheaper to insure than imports, (only LWB TT's were avialale in the UK so it does limit your choice and there are other issues to contend with) From japan you could have either TT's or NA's LWB or SWB (targa or hard top or convertible) all sorts of options! Be aware though that NA's tend to be just as much to insure as imported TT's I was 20 when I had my first one and paid about £1100 I think 3rd party fire and theft uk model. It subsequently went down when I was 21. (Then I had an M3 Evo for 18 months and then onto the silver one) I'm 23 now and have a SWB TT (import) and pay around 700 on a cherished car scheme with limited milage through adrian flux, again third party fire and theft with 4 years no claims. I do live in the middle of nowhere though which helps as insurance depends as much on your post code as your age etc these days. price comparision websites are generally fairly poor for interesting/unusual/performance cars. So i would stick to picking up the phone and looking for specialist performance/occasional car insurance. (The z32 is 10x the car that tha z31 ever was - its why the 300zx has just a bad rep is that awful thing lol)

Hi there - a few questions
Other than the price is there any particular reason you want a z31? They arnt exactly a speed machine in standard form (even a turbo is less powerful than a Z32 NA...) I will be honest although they have a tiny bit of retro cool and they are rare I dont think they would ever be put up on the mantlepiece as a showcase of Nissans engineering. Its from the era when they got fatter, heavier and slower!

Car cruz
I dont think there will be many readers of those magazines on this site... lol Fairplay if your car makes it into them though. At the opposite end of the scale I was sat on a carpark the other night eating a pizza with a mate. Quiet place with barely a soul around and suddenly a big flash, car lit up like a christmas tree. I looked around and a young lad walking with his mum had just taken a picture of the old girl. With a fat git stuffing pizza into his mouth sat inside. LOL

TT SWB Odd exhaust temp & noise
Either that or you have a collapsed cat! Or one side has been blown out, eitherway its something blocking the exhaust flow by the sounds of things

Think I'm gonna have to get rid of my Zed
I take it you cant claim milage for your driving for work then? Seeing that its different each day and all that.
-
Think I'm gonna have to get rid of my Zed
Well why not sell your zed and buy a LWB 2+2 then you'll have 4 seats and everyone is happy!
-
Think I'm gonna have to get rid of my Zed
Ah dam shame, its a bonny little car that! Hope you find a solution to keep it. Often if its a heat of the moment "have to get rid of it" it calms down and you find a way to keep it :) Problem is in this day and age they are expensive to run vs their purchase price. Heavy on juice, bad to insure - iv just paid to tax mine so im annoyed at paying the government for the pleasure!

welcome to the forum mate!

new tt manual SWB owner
Thats brilliant news mate well done! Get some pictures up! Is it a targa or slicktop? Spinning wheels in 4th?! You need some beter tyres!

300ZX Pikes Peak!
Awesome, there is two or three of them actually! Nice to see them racing but it does show why 4wd is far superior on those surfaces. The dodge stealth (or 3000gt to us!) with 4wd being 40 seconds quicker over the course.

Name whats wrong with your car at the mo
Bumper needs re-aligning. Every now and again it sometimes holds back at low throttle settings (once a month maybe!). Not sure what it is, I think its a lazy O2 sensor. If you prod the throttle its then fine. Most weird, (im begining to think its my driving style that does it as my old one did the exact same thing!) Its wrong because it needs 99 spec rear lights (have 99 centre panel to fit tho!) Also need to get on with the interior retrim!

was going to sell up and go german
There is a reason manual X5's are rare.... far better with an auotbox tha can use the engines to their full potential. Fantastic cars for what they are.... what vans have you driven stella that handle as well as an X5?! As for the zed nice looking car although im not sold on the interior sorry! Bargain at 1500, probably worth more than that as parts so your quids in regardless!

95 White LWB M40 + M42
Ah my apologies! I thought that the spoiler was optional on all NA's :)
-
Front splitter is this changeable?, or whole bumper gotta be changed
Looking at your other posts you have the standard 89 na front bumper. This is all one piece of plastic and so you have to change the entire unit. The only real difference iirc between the na and tt front bumpers is that the tt one has slats at the bottom for the intercoolers. Not needed on an na but having the slats wouldn't hurt anything other than mking it look like a tt. :-)

95 White LWB M40 + M42
Saw you today :) White LWB on a 95 with some sort of bodykit (not feeling it if im honest!) I get the impression it was an NA due to being despoilered and also by the exhausts but i could be wrong.

anyone know this car?
I was thinking the same looks a nice car! Typically electronics/electrical by the fault description. Could be a bargain!

Stock z32 brakes for 200sx?
It does depend on the model of 200sx. The S13 can use our front brakes, in conjunction with 5 stud hubs i believe. (and rear with mods) The S14/14a 200sx uses the SAME front brakes as us but our REAR brakes are a big upgrade to them but it isnt bolt on as they need the handbrake shoes and some other bits.
