  1. No putting a fake nose and moustache combo on and joining the back of the queue!
  2. Did Car.Mad drop his wallet? :D
  3. If its only the drivers door that is giving you trouble, I would suggest its the door that's moved and not the chassis of the car that's bent. Track driving I would say is far smoother than fast road driving, although the speeds might be higher there is less chance of shock traveling through the car. Could well be that in your enthusiastic driving you have lent heavily on the door and strained the hinge/lock mechanism? Does the car have proper seats and harnesses?
  4. Never knew those exhausts would go that shiney ;) Nice touches with sorting the rear brake calipers and the intercooler pipes out mate! I'm glad to see she's being looked after :) I've still got those odds and sods to send to you, I found some other bits of paperwork the other day to do with the brakes. I will try and post tomorrow (only 4 months late I know :) )
  5. Sleepy part of Morecambe?! Its like Baghdad down there ;) hehe
  6. True but you may find it won't even start up properly without being in a suitable host vehicle. Give it a go, would fantastic if it did work!
  7. I would be very surprised if you could get this to actually work with the navigation etc. If its anything like a BMW system then the screen/headunit actually doesn't do much at all and the whole system is integrated into the car, for receivers, aerials and even the navigation computer is distributed through the car and its all coded to work with a particular car as well. However I hope I'm wrong and you can get it to work, if however you can't there are plenty of places that provide an OEM "look" fully self contained headunit that is often better than the OEM units with regards to functions!
  8. Both easily sorted ;) Nice looking car actually... Have we not seen that plate/car before somewhere?
  9. Very impressive, I can imagine it was getting like triggers broom though?! No mine is a Mk5 sadly mate, on an 09 plate the one your looking at must be what, pre 06? I've got no idea how the rear shocks and springs fit tbh but as far as I know there should be little if no difference to the estate model of the car so might be easier to look at those and see how those come to bits?
  10. My might AstraVan has been in for its second MOT today which puts it at 4 years old although it sat on a forcourt for the first 6 months of its life and we bought it pre-reg in the November of 2009 with 23miles on the clock. So we have had it 3 and a half years. Its now done 141,200 and in that time had: 2 Full sets of Tyres 1 Set of front Brake pads 2 Headlight bulbs 1 Set of Wipers 1 Crank oil seal 1 Front Wheel bearing Cambelt change and 7 services I don't think thats half bad considering the pain it takes! What other silly milages with next to no maintainence have people managed?
  11. If I bring a model of one does it count?? :)
  12. RIP Barry. Awful news, we never met (I don't think, although I have a nagging memory he may have come to a longlands meet 5+ years ago!). I remember speaking to Phil @ CSwoods at the time about his car and it certainly gave me more enthusiasm for mine. My thoughts to all his family. Thank you Hub280ZX for sharing your memories and for looking after one of his legacys.
  13. Sounds good Steve, I can be there with the M5.... I've a zed nose cone I could put on the bonnet somwhere!
  14. Now now keep on topic dont wan't a roe breaking out!
  15. I think yours being a prefacelift and having an M52 engine, it will be a throttle cable still but I could be wrong! What year is the car, I'm fairly sure that only the TU engines sort of 99 to 00 ish, i.e very late prefacelift cars will have the TU engine which I think had electronic throttles. Anyway, if its a cable it could just need some lubrication as you have said, if its electronic then it could be the sensor going a bit dicky which is probably not an easy thing to fix unless you replace the throttle pedal as the sensor will be built into it. However contact cleaner could work wonders. Check that the floor mat isnt getting in the way and any other rubbish that might be floating about in the footwell :)
  16. I think we have all got used to it now :) However one thing I have noticed of late, the very top left of the screen there is a "forum" button just below the 300zx banner logo. I used to be able to click on that and it would take me to the home page of the forum, i've since found the little house icon just below which does the same job but when driving on a phone it can be a bit awkward to hit that. Now that Forum button just drops down "reo discussions" is it just me that gets that or for everyone? It would be better if the button worked as it did before, for me anyway! :)
  17. Cheers mate I had a bit of a look today and found the flow sensor but decided not to mess to much. As it happens I have a plumber coming tomorrow to move a gas supply to the boiler so it can be recessed for the new kitchen/diner im doing so he is going to take a look. Bloody thing! Yeah its a fair point mate, I'm conviced its this sensor though which is only £20 of a part and doesnt look to bad to fit after a quick glance - just meant draining everything etc. Its on a wireless thermostat so yeah could be as I said its the hot water that is ondemand as it were thats the problem, the heating works perfectly. This is the other potential cuprit, but as it will actually heat water fairly well on the warmstart/preheat mode I dont think its that. I did also do the diagnostic and could hear the diverter valve moving from position to position and the display was reporting the correct position information as well so I'm less convinced thats the issue at the moment. Cheers mate, yeah although it requires the heating to be full and pressurised that isnt the issue I dont think, the heating holds a perfect 1.5 raising to 1.8 when its warm and dropping back to 1.5 when cold. I've had to drain and refill the system a few times recently as we have been doing alot of work moving and adding radiators in places around the house. As I said though the heating is working great, just the hot water being a total bellend! :)
  18. Cheers guys. However, I've done some more digging and it looks like the hot water flow sensor, went through the diagnostic and with a hot tap running the flow sensor is showing 0 liters a minute which I think is showing that the sensor simply isnt seeing the movement of water. By turning the warmstart feature on it will allow me to have a small amount of hot water which is better tha nothing. Stu I have sent you my mobile number :)
  19. Yeah it is a combi, its almost as if the stupid thing thinks its a system boiler actually but having been through the"user guide" and the "installation guide" that doesnt appear to be possible. I do wonder there must be some sort of flow sensor in there that isnt working. Drives you mad, as of course its 4 months out of warranty...!
  20. Haha - one of our customers at the end of it :)
  21. Ah it seems never ending with domestic questions! I have a Vaillant ecotec Pro 28 which I had installed at the end of 2011. Up to now its been perfect never a bother etc. However its developed a weird issue today. Just to clarify, heating and hot water worked perfectly on Monday, I went away for work until Wednesday night. No need for hot water until the Morning but the heating was fine on wednesday. Turn the shower on this morning, Stone cold its a thermostatic one run from the boiler, so I checked a hot tap in the bathroom, also stone cold However the heating was working completly fine. I did take a quick look at it and it was almost as if it was simply ignoring the request for hot water. I looked into it a bit more tonight when I got in from work, looking at the display and the "S" codes it gives, it goes through S1, S3 then S4 for heating fine, these vaillant boilers have a warmstart hot water function, I actually turned that on accidently hot water kicked into life, I checked it through a tap in the bathroom and it was fine. Perfect I thought, solved it. Went for a shower just before and the swine just wouldnt go warm, although a vast improvement over this morning - managed to have a luke warm shower. I left it running after and went down to have a look at it and it had heated the water to 45*c, but refused to do anymore - I think this is because the warm start feature is set at 45*c so its preheating to that, incidently its "S" codes are 20-24 as expected by the manual. I turned warmstart up, and it went straight back to heating again (S.4) I've tried turning it of and on, and also tried doing the reset button but neither have helped. Basically for whatever reason I don't think its seeing the flow of water through the heat exchanger and so doesnt realise it needs to heat water (however the actually ability to heat water seems fine as the warmstart thing works great) Does anyone have any experience with Vaillants as to how I can fix this/get this fixed and if its going to cost me a million pounds or not :)
  22. Fantastic photography as ever! - - - Updated - - - Ha best bit it's on a k not a h... Shows how much attention I was paying.
  23. Haha... True mate I was there for the grand total of 40 minutes! I havnt forgotten about those tax discs just been so busy with work and getting my house sorted not had chance to get to a post office.
  24. A very nice surprise today to see a 300zx in sarn a small village near Bridgend. Looked totally standard on a h plate I even took a picture in shock! :-)
  25. Oven: Energy Current (A) - 10.4 Voltage (V) - 230 Frequency (Hz) - 50 So 10 Amps for the oven? Hob Energy Connection Rating (W) - 5.8 Front right 1700W Front left 1200W Rear right 1200W Rear left 2100W Current (A) - 30 Voltage (V) - 230 Frequency (Hz) - 50 And 30 amps for that? I've since been advised to run a seperate 2.5mm cable for the oven and a 6mm for the hob, which sounds sensible to me. Steve, I'll PM you for numbers... for the amount I cook and the fact that id have to buy new pans (I think?) the cost of the induction hob wouldn't really be worth it plus i never realised they were cheaper to run and its already ordered and on its way haha.
