  1. Whining noise from inside the car? Quite common... Check for wife or girlfriend in passenger seat! :) Have you checked the fluid level on the autobox? It has its own dipstick iirc at the very back right of the engine bay almost under the scuttle panels.
  2. Welcome back John! Hope all is well! - - - Updated - - - Parts from the above car live on in my old slicktop!
  3. Yeah it's a Westminster iirc? Worth far more than the buttons I have for mine! I did almost steal it! I've seen a used set for 132 or something at the minute will watch them as if they don't go daft the ones on it must be worth 50 as scrap!
  4. Yeah they are a nice wheel, not as expensive as I though considering everyone wants them! lol
  5. I quite like the wheels! Will see idea isn't to spend loads of money on it lol. They are triple sports and an option I think as they are 18' to big for gaylander! Ill see what comes up. Drives well though! Back from Georgia tomorrow FCk me I can't wait to have proper food proper tv a proper bed and not be subjected to mental Georgian driving habits!
  6. To add to this I would recommend leaving more fuel in it than nothing. A big empty fuel tank will encourage condensation I would have thought and as I'm sure we know internal combustion engines don't much like to run on water. Even left standing for a few weeks I try and make sure mine all have at least half a tank.
  7. Thanks mate yeah I've been having a read up. I don't think there is much wrong with it as the guy who delivered it told me it was perfect and he was a self confessed rangerover addict. And it was fine when I drove it on Friday. Worst case will be compressor seals I think. These days though the bits are so cheap it's worth fixing them!
  8. The idea of using it for winter is a thinly veiled excuse.... Or justification for it. To be honest I just fancied rocking round in a rangerover and saving the M5 from the salt for a few months! I have to say its considerably faster than I expected it to be the engine runs as sweet as anything with the later engine electronics. However - air suspension already being a total PITA so will need to investigate that when I get home. I've priced up spring conversion kits... and replacement bits haha. It might just be user error (as was the "faulty" tailgate which firmly lay with me being a bit stupid...) Next job will be a run through in the bodyshop to sort some rattles, trim and clicking check straps and a machine polish.
  9. Thanks guys! Sorry been a bit busy these last couple of days! So far its been brilliant, although I have only done about 10 miles!
  10. That sounds good to me ;) I'll make sure I break her cherry.... Although no idea if the low range or diff lock works!
  11. It was an option would you believe from I think the 94 model year, and perhaps only on the V8's but I'm not sure. I do like the E34 a very handsome car!
  12. I didn't think it would be your cup of tea haha :) It is a nice colour though and quite unusual I think, I've never even seen it so will see how good the pictures make it look! Its now arriving tomorrow although I'm at a track day so still won't get to see it until Saturday.
  13. Does your E34 have any form of traction control? I must admit I hit a large patch of standing water I hadn't seen in a dip the other night in the M5 and the electronics just sorted it all out. Amazingly clever for a fairly old car!
  14. I have visited the last two years and its a wonderful place if you are a petrol head. If you get this of the ground no trip is complete without a visit to the pistonklause for a steak on a stone. We actually stayed there this year. I would recommend anyone who goes to the ring with the intention of driving it manages to get them selves booked onto a UK track day first assuming they have had no track experience (experience days don't count you need a track day in your own car to learn it). Its a terrifying place with endless corners and its far far narrower than it first looks. That aside the scenery around the track and the viewing points are just fantastic and worth finding. I would try and avoid the German bank holidays if you can as its absolute bedlam and trying to get on the track during those busy days is hard work. Most week nights the ring is open but during the day you will find that there are private track days/testing/practice events which can be brilliant to watch. The alternative is to actually book a track day, some of them are over two days and although sound expensive at first can be quite good value especially when a single lap of the ring is now 27 euros I think.
  15. Still got the M5! But yes certainly better than the M5 in the bad weather. Push comes to shove I'll make another coffee table!
  16. I thought I'd get my self an old P38 for the winter seeing as its meant to bad snow etc this year and for a laugh as I have always wanted one. Turns out the insurance isn't even expensive these days as I'm getting older! A 4.6 HSE on a 99 T plate in quite an unusual colour! She arrives on Friday! (hopefully...!)
  17. Simon sorry I can't reply as not subbed at the moment, email me at chriscave686@hotmail.com and ill email you back!
  18. :blushing: I do miss this car at times! I'm sure Dean will have given all the info you need but if there is anything you want to know give me a shout. I have loads of pictures of the respray etc. The reason it feels so direct is from when I had it corner weighted and the suspension set up properly just made such a difference to it! Take it to noz for a remap I'd love to know what she would produce! Dean thank you for looking after my baby, Simon congratulations on the purchase and I hope she gives you as much pleasure as she did to me. Thanks for all the kind comments guys!
  19. I'm sorry to hear these developments Jeff, especially as you were looking forward to spending some time in the sun! Its already all been said but I will add my encouragement and well wishes that you can get everything back up to usual speed in no time. The community wouldn't be the same without you! Besides, be another year or so before I'll end up buying another one and I'm not sure who else I could trust so you better still be around by that time! :)
  20. Imagine 2800rpm... although must have been more like 3300 with your NA diff ;) What does the theoretical (actual on yours!!) top end drop to with an NA diff?
  21. Must have been doing 72-74mph!
  22. My old slicktop managed 28mpg on its long run to JAE a few years ago... interesting as my LWB would only do 25/26 showing the lighter weight of the slicktop!
  23. Good idea mate but the only thing I would suggest is that even the venerable rover V8 doesn't make a big table, and a V6 is going to even shorter. This was mine if you want a look. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?163874-V8-Coffee-Table
  24. Mine was on my keys for years but the loop eventually fell of :( So I still have the Z somewhere knocking about in a kitchen draw! Really nice use of it though, It looks well on there.
  25. Bloody hell StellaZ cant believe you remembered that! I remember that project as well! Welcome back mate!
