  1. Its more a case of where the car was sold after a certain date. In Europe the car was sold from 1989/90 to 94. In the US they got the car up to the end of 96. The cars were actually produced up to early/mid 2000 I believe with the very very last cars being sold in early 2001 however they were extremely rare. So yours will be a JDM import and sounds nice in midnight purple. Get some pictures up, and welcome!
  2. Haha cheers mate yeah the M5 was nice but she was getting ready for quite a bit of work really and had done 127k miles so it was time to move it on... I know you won't believe me but the 650i is as fast and sounds better!
  3. Evening chaps, not sure who remembers a few months ago I bought an E63 650i which had some piss poor standard 18" wheels. So I acquired some "standard" 19" sport wheels had them refurbished with some new center caps and the results are below. Really transforms the look of the car and as I've got rid of the old run flats it also handles much better with a crisp turn in and allot more communication through the front end. Before shot And with the new wheels
  4. Thanks chaps, its been an eventful week to say the least!
  5. Thanks guys much appreciated! The years marching on now!
  6. I passed you at about 4:20 leaving the m6 at j33 for lancaster south. Nice to see a zed out and about! Blue M registration with a big spoiler and an aftermarket front bumper I think
  7. Steve! Give me a shout when youve got her back Ive still not been out in the beast! Glad to hear you've still got her.
  8. Bare in mind that how many left does also include the vehicles sorn'd, as they are still registered just registered as not on the road. There has been a dramatic drop of in what is available (I still look from time to time...!) and there certainly isn't much I would buy these days. As said above LHD cars always have a huge price premium which is why there is the odd RHD car purchased in the UK and taken abroad. However i think i'm correct in saying that only original UK cars can go across the channel and take up a new life due to the testing requirements.
  9. It's a shame the old girl only made 292bhp however, am I correct in thinking it made that at 0.6 bar? Its not bad power considering the boost. When I had the car I have to say I always found it very peaky and it boosted hard to 1 bar from around 3500rpm. I did have a bash at improving things with the EBC but never seemed to achieve much with it so in the end I simply left it alone. Obviously its been through a couple of owners since then so god knows what settings its got in it now. I always wished I'd got it to noel for a proper map and setup because I think it would have transformed it, It is very odd but my first TT which I had converted from Auto to manual I found to have much better power delivery, it was more progressive (I did put that down to it of course having auto turbos and cams). If I had used the slicktop more I would have probably done something about it but at 6k miles in 3 years I could put up with its foibles. I'm really glad shes still with an enthusiastic owner who by looking at some of the threads you've put up you have got really good plans for her. Its really nice to see she still looks as smart as the day we painted her all those years ago!
  10. Not to bad mate how about you? Keeping busy!
  11. Haha its a lovely car by far the best car I have ever owned or even driven. Superb performance, surprising economy and very very comfortable. This particular one has only done 56k as well so lots of life left in her!
  12. I once had a courtesy car with a fuel light on, I put £2.50 in it and drove it back in second to make sure I used every penny of it! I figured half a gallon is 20 miles on a 40mpg car, drive it in second should be down to 10mpg or so, I had 8 miles to do so its only fair!
  13. Hi mate, I've actually sold the car so passed the info onto my mums partner. He is a mechanic so can do as he likes! I'm now back to a blue and white roundel in the shape of a 650i. Thanks for the help though I'm sure it will be of some assistance to Mark.
  14. Looks awesome Richard! I do like the new SLK. Paul, as it happens I've actually sold it to a family member but its got a couple of tiny niggles. The first is the analogue clock which just doesn't move, its stuck at a time, it has the later DVD comand which shows the correct time etc and ive tried changing it and time settings to try and jog the clock back to life but to no avail. Have you seen that before? Any suggestions? The last is an intermittent creak from the back end which I think is a rear spring, is that likely? Common? Easy to fix? Ive priced up a couple of KYB springs for £65 i think they are.
  15. Haha im affraid so Brian. Although I didnt sell the M5, I took the CLK and cash as part x for the M5. Sadly it was time to go, she was ready for a few bits of work and getting a bit long in the tooth.
  16. Cheers Guys that's really helpful, if any one could get them to text me on 07799116046 and ill call them back if they don't mind me bending their ear for a bit. This is what I have "won"
  17. Hey mate, hows things? Ah brilliant, I thought it was Richard Smith! But just couldnt put my finger on it, am I right in thinking he has an SLK350?
  18. Afternoon guys. Nice to see lots of familiar names around here still, I do still have an occasional read through to see how life with Z32's ticks by... My old car was up for sale a few months ago does anyone know if she got sold again? I have been trying to rack my brains but I just can't remember who it was, there was a member here that worked for Mercedes and knew an awful lot about them. I was wondering if anyone can point me in their direction. Long story short ive aquired for want of a better word a CLK350 and I had a couple of quick questions for a man with some knowledge. Mainly before I go and get my backside handed to me at a main dealer for trivial things. Hope everyone is well!
  19. Don't ever add up those bills ;) Cough Cough!
  20. Remember there are both exhaust and inlet cam sensors so there are two to go at and different part numbers IIRC. I have some software I use for my E39 it was only £15/£20 on ebay I think. I use it on my M5 and also used it on the 528i as well with the older round connector for the diagnostics port
  21. Almost certainly one of the cam sensors, my mothers 528i displayed the same symptons rough running, down on power, it will begin to just cut out at junctions and on occasion refuse to start if you don't sort it. It could just be the connectors but the M52's are quite well known for needing sensors
  22. Thanks guys! Getting on a bit now, terrifying really to be getting on for late 20's... ;)
  23. Thanks guys. Much appreciated!
  24. Thanks mate! Much appreciated! So far I have got a flying lesson from the gf... Not sure what she is trying to tell me!
