Interior cleaning product recommendation
Another vote for autoglym Rubber and Vinyl car not too shiny and has a nice finish. i use WD40 on the external door and rear quarter rubbers just spray a bit on a cloth and rub down with your finger, gets them nice and black again.

cheap cheap 350z
blatantly stole so could be wrong but found this on another forum "V-Car means the car has been an insurance write-off at some point during it's life. This could through an accident, theft and recovery or flooding. There are four categories. Category A (Worst) : Example: a burned out shell, CANNOT be put back on the road. Category B : Example: Very bad accident damage, car CANNOT be put back on the road but parts can be re-used. Category C : Example : Severe accident damage, car CAN be out back on the road. Category D : Example : Theft Recovery/Flooding/minor/moderate accident damage, car CAN be put back on the road. Depending on what category the car is in the price is usually a third less than the book price for a striaght car. Some bargains can be had, but you will struggle to sell on. As per usual due to media hype people run a mile from any V-Car listed car. IF the car is repaired professionally then they can be as good as new."

petrol smell
quite a common fault I believe if you do a search, best thing to do is to pop the bonnet on a cold morning follow the fuel line from the fuel filter and where the regulator sits in the plenum look around there while someone starts it up and you'll be able to see petrol spraying out. Probably just need to nip up the clips or maybe at worse replace the aged pipes.

Tech tip : Speed sensor
great tip I thought this was the problem with mine but turned out my jap clocks were flaky, everything worked fine bar the speedo which only worked when it felt like it. After fitting UK clocks its worked all the time.

Whats the best way to Write DVDs
If they're downloaded dodgy ones they'll be in avi format usually, so have to be converted to VOB files then your program burns them in a DVD format, DVD flick does all this for you, just drag and drop, click convert an it will make a DVD format image or burn straight to disc. I prefer it over nero and Win Image as the quality is better and havent had a single file it won't convert.

Whats the best way to Write DVDs
I use DVD Flick a free program that will create dvd files (Vobs) or burn straight to DVD, just bung an avi or several into it and it auto fits to the selected disc size.

Does this sound like the usual car scam?
People that are not clued up on these things have no idea, such as my nephew, saw the ad on autotrader a legitimate car site, contacted the guy, sent pictures a nice back story that was plausible, logged on to a very nice shipping site and all the details came up time of pick up delivery address you name it they had it covered, the only thing that blew their scam straight away was that after he'd showed me the email was that the shipping cost was £60 from Germany :nelson:
-
Does this sound like the usual car scam?
Scam definately my rather naive nephew fell for a similar thing with a Focus in Germany shipped to your to your door for only £800 + £60 shipping. Moneygram even say on their website DO NOT SEND MONEY TO ANYONE YOU DON'T KNOW PERSONALLY, they even gave him a shipping ref number that brings your details up on a fake shipping website.

got ourlass a clio
yeah its not all bad agreed I just seem to be the worlds unluckiest person when it comes to cars.

got ourlass a clio
Thats bad luck, the joys of buying from auctions, I bought my first car a mk 2 cavalier a week later the engine died, turned out it had been bodged up to get through the auctions, you just don't get enough time to check them out I feel and then end up buying something you don't want.

Ball joint replacement
I presuming these are similar to S14a ones and my garage mechanic buddy, swapped them in situ using a socket to drift it out and also heating the arm, took an hour or so but can be done without a press.

Fitting UK Clocks
No mate the wires went down to a small silver box with a circuit board in it that was stuck under the heater pipe under the steering column, had to strip some more to get to it. It had obviously gone wrong somewhere and also my jap spec speedo was very intermittant probably a dry joint that can be fixed no doubt. Just nice to know what speed i'm going now :hyper: seems pretty accurate too when compared to GPS speed reading on my sat nav.
-
Fitting UK Clocks
sorted in the end just a case of connecting the original wires back and pulling the dodgy looking box out.
-
Fitting UK Clocks
right further investigation seem that the wires lead to a little box, brown white and black from the left hand connector and a red one from the right hand connector( this one just taps off the green one rather than replaces) I'm thinking if I undo the tape on the left hand side connector and reconnector the wires that lead off to the converter all should be good as original?
-
Fitting UK Clocks
Decided to fit my UK clocks today as the JAP ones have about had it and not accurate at all speed wise. But I cannot see any converter as such to change it back to a clean signal so with the new UK clocks fitted im still getting an incorrect reading. Pictures attached show what I'm dealing with, theres a thin yellow wire with green strip that had been taped up but appears just to be soldered back together nothing inline and a fatter green with yellow strip has a bullet type connector in line but nothing in it no resistor or anything, then thers random brown white and red cables going down behind the dash but can't see where they go to. I'm not sure which is the speedo signal to trace back Sorry for the big pictures but it makes it clearer.

Well Lookie what we have here....
Probably looks better in the flesh but with those amps being reflective and having those wavy lines it looks a little too busy on my eyes, the perspex logos are excellent though .
