  1. according to torquestats.com the e39 m5 is 11.5 and the 300zx is 14.6 0-100, so quite a bit :) Brakes are epic also, from appx 120-60 felt like i was going to go through the windscreen.
  2. Well I've had it 3 days now and all I can say is wow, what a fantastic car, its surpassed all my expectations, its my first BMW and for a car that was developed back in 96 the build quality and design of equipment layout is superb. So easy to drive around town and effortlessly smooth, it really does feel like brand new car. No rattles or squeaks from the interior, suspension is smooth and ride is sublime. Oh and my god does it shift, bury the throttle and its like warp speed, I thought my zed was quick but the delivery on this is amazing, just keeps going and going and going.
  3. Maybe we should have a BMW section added to the forum given there seems to be quite a few of us. ;)
  4. Cheers for the approval :) Selecting a car after you've had a zed is difficult, there is not al ot out there with the performance I wanted, and I didn't fancy anything like a and Imprezza or an Evo. I'd always had a liking for the E39 M5 and this came up for sale and I bought it next day.
  5. Having owned my 300zx 8 years it feels kinda sad getting a new car, but due to the nature of these cars it's not practical given my circumstances. Criteria for a replacement was 4 doors and reasonably quick so I bought this. A Le Mans blue facelift M5 with nav and black/blue interior. Still undecided whether to sell the zed or stash it away for a few years the money its worth doesnt make it worthwhile selling it given what i've spent on it. Confession over.
  6. Wouldn't have thought there is any truth in that, my 20 year old standard auto TT still pulls like the devil on fire after a hot curry in the Bahamas.
  7. It is very dark grey and there scuff master stuff was a very good match, can definately recommend it.
  8. Cheers guys, had a great weekend out on the ale and had a lovely fillet steak dinner on my Birthday, I love it when the date falls in the week you can really drag the celebrations out. Got a lovely beer tankard with "Daddy's Beer" on the side from my 6 week old daughter :happybday:
  9. Saw you twice up and down the A611, first one i've seen for ages
  10. http://www.steerfromtherear.co.uk/content.php?sftr=burns
  11. The original one you posted, does seem quite expensive considering its mild steel and of unknown age.
  12. I have that same exhaust on mine, its nice and quiet so you can hear the engine throb away rather than a noisy exhaust its mild steel though so might not last long, ive had mine on 2 years and was about the same state as that when i purchased it. I paid £150 delivered from a forum member.
  13. When the light starts to stay on you can usually get another 30 miles out of it quite easily though.
  14. Looking good mate, they will shrink in time so about 10 years and they'll be mint :)
  15. Looking at his feedback it seems they come from china, but a bargain non the less.
  16. WTF is that, looks like its been fished out of a resorvoir, i know R5 are last decade but that is last century. Looks like this guy just goes around blagging scrap and trying to fob it off at stupid prices, pikey to the extreme.
  17. Have looked at M5s long and hard, generally don't buy a prefacelift, facelift comes with angel eyes, front rear PDC, alcantara headlining, better steering wheel, widescreen satnav, although the sat nav isnt great, it makes the interior look much better, also the heritage leather looks pants compared to the nappa, best colour is le mans blue imo, black, silver or the light blue doesnt really it suit it that well.
  18. A tad expensive for what it is, far better runarounds for that money.
  19. Used to watch most of them. Bar mcgyver never really got into that. Anyone remember sledge hammer and Police Squad. Oh and you can't forget the young ones, don't think any other series has had such a diverse theme, surealism, randomism, music, slapstick, politics, current affairs.
  20. Yeah these are pretty reliable cars when running tip top, I've been using mine as a daily for the last 2 years and not a single break down other than the odd leaking coolant hose.
  21. As Si says, buy the best one you can afford, one with know history at least, if its had the big service recently, cambelt + aux belts, water pump, thermostat, water hoses replaced, bushes replaced, exterior trim that perishes. You will save alot in the long run.
  22. I've spent about £4000 in 8 years on maintenance and general up keep, that includes 2 sets of tyres at £900. Obviously if its standard 16" wheels it will be cheaper. In general these are not cheap cars to run, unless you can find good 2nd hand stuff.
  23. Look pretty good, however a cat seems to have been sick on your floor mats.
