no im still there. I am just a dumbass when it comes to forward planning!
  2. totally agree Mark. I have always loved Merc 190's espeacilly the cosworth 16v engine versions. Was looking into getting one and it took 48 hours to get an answer to a question i put on their forum. there is not enough people on there to do the quick question-answer thing that goes on here. strange because there are tons more 190s on the road than zeds!
  3. ok i think i will give the 2fast2cool ones a miss so it is either the standard non-adjustable ones with normal bushes for £70 or the smithy adjustable ones for double that. can i just ask what is the advantage of being able to adjust these arms? for other adjustable suspension parts they are adjustbale to be able to adjust the hardness of the ride or the tracking of the wheels, but as these are about taking breaking strain i cant understand why they would need to be adjustable.

is it on the saturday or sunday?
  5. seen some conflicting posts on here about products from the ebay seller 2fast2cool. the conclusion seemed to be they were good products for non-critical stuff.....but what about tension rods. obviously they are key safety parts but has anyone had any experience of these....? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=012&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=220129701102&rd=1&rd=1 is pillowball the same as rose jointed? what are the advantages of these over standard ones for £20 less?
  6. PRAISE THE LORD! my O2 sensors have now been fitted. Took it to Nassa in aldershot who are a jap specialist and i know them from picking some silicon hoses up from there. (Took me over an hour to get out of london and only half an hour from the start of the M3 to aldershot but that is another story!) Was relived to see 2 other zeds in their garage ( dont know if they are anyones on here, a lovely gray Jap NA with 99 front spolier and a two-tone black and scarlet one) as it meant they wouldn't open the bonnet and suck their teeth and start feeding me *****cks when they saw where the sensors were! anyway, it wasnt a problem for them. Took just over an hour and cost £60+VAT and they raised my car on the lift and showed me a blow in the exhaust i had. would recomend them. not too far from london and much better than any of the "standard" london garages i have been to. contact me if you want their number. Thanks for all your help on here guys. It meant i wasnt going into these garages scratching my head and letting them rip me off. i will give you a ring next week Mark to have a quick re-conzult if that is cool. Tom
  7. dont think the speeding thing would be a problem. You would have to be a bloody idiot to admit speeding on public road in print on a forum that is in the public domain. could put a sticky in the area to tell people not to divulge that sort of info.
  8. I was thinking a good addition to this forum would be an area (not sure if that is the correct technical term but a section like, "Non Z Related General Discussion" or "300ZX Help and Advice) where people could post up good driving road they have been on. I guess it would be similar to the "Was it you?" section where individual posts most of the time of the road and place in the country it is and what is good about and what is bad about it (speed cameras, traffic jams, blind corners or dips). I dont travel around the country that much but when i do i get bored of motorways where you are stuck behind ignorant people sitting in the outside lane not overtaking anyone when you could be biltzing about on a fun A or B-road. What i would really like it to be able to mark up my road map of britain with fun roads so whenever i travel somewhere i have the option of the straight forward route and the "fun" route. what do people think?
  9. this one? that looks majorly dodgy because if the square thing is where you attach 3/8th extension bar when you rotate the the extension bar the torque will not be in the right direction to unscrew the sensor. I cant see how that can work??? [/img] I would of though something like this would be better where the torque is in a straight line with the bolt. http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=69215&group_ID=1448&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog Anyway, this whole sensor thing is right royally doing my head in! in my desperation yesterday i took it to a kwik fit(!!) only for them to tell me they cant do it unless they provide the parts. They sent me to another garage up the road. At this place i showed the old turk guy exactly where the sensors where and that you dont need to get it up onto a ramp to do it. But he gave me all this cr@p that he had to come in from the side and pretended he knew the car saying it was 5 bolts to get in there. I told him it was a solid firewall but he was having none of it. I asked him for a price and he said £150!!!! If it was a fiesta they would have no quibbles for such a routine job but because it is something exotic and the engine bay must look a bit daunting for these guys who poke about in a peugot 1.4 engine bay all day and they just take the total pisss!! I am so annoyed with this treatment from london garages (i also think the first place i took it to have put a scratch on one of my t-tops!!!) that i was going to ring up z-tech and go all the way out there to get it done BY A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC not a semi-skilled conman but i see they are shut down. SWZ are a long way away from me but i would do it if i could take my car there on a friday afternoon and they could do it while i wait and i can take it from there back to my parents in dorset for the weekend. SURELY THIS SHOULDNT BE SO DIFFICULT!
  10. cant get you a picture but if you look under the car on the drivers side, level with the door mirror you can see the starter motor. It has a metal sheild over it and a thick grounding wire coming out of it. hope this helps.
  11. i just clicked over 140,000 in my UK TT the other day but didnt notice the 13,999 to 14,000 mile, damn! new gearbox and remachined turbos along while ago but it is going great even with decat!
  12. watched in the whole series intently when it was on the Sci-Fi channel. The first few episodes are so good and exciting, as good as 24 or sopranos or anything else on tele, i wont say it tales off towards the end but the first few are amazing. Looking forward to a second series.

I am still in. Hoping i can get my O2 sensors fitted before the rolling road but if i cant do any of you guys have either the tool that i can borrow or now of a decent garage in the south that can definitely fit my sensors??
  14. in the words of shaggy featuring rik rok....."it wasn't me"
  15. i have phoned round a few other places close to work so i can get this routine, 1 hour job done without going out of my way too much. but no luck. one place is relocating, one is just a body shop and some polish guys who did some good, honest work on my old prelude arent around anymore (typical if the govt decided to ship off the only useful ones in the area!). I ended up phoning back the garage it is at now and tell them that the manual says they can only be accessed from the top, take out the battery etc. They said they will have another look and get back to me so fingers crossed. I have always had trouble finding good garages in London. It is the normal with London that becuase it is so big there is no loyalty and not easy to either build up a good or bad reputation in the area so most places just take the easy route and take the pee! The place it is at is a classic car specialist but never seen any classics in there. i bet if i turned up in some rotten old spitfire they would be falling over themselves to help me!
  16. couldnt find anything about O2 sensor maintanance in manual. They look tricky to get out but probably trickier if you were trying to get at them from the bottom. Been a bit up and down with this garage. They failed me on MOT then were not very easy to deal with while i tried to sort it out. Then when i took it back for the re-test they passed it and adjusted my timing for me and didnt charge (what i asked for initially along with MOT). dont know of any decent garages in London as most seem like crooks. what is most annoying is that they have wasted a day of trying to get it fixed which i want to do before the rolling road next weekend. cant really tell them they can be done from the front will just have to pick it up take it to the next place and hope they have a bit more patience! I HATE NOT HAVING TIME, TOOLS, A GARAGE AND THE MECHANICAL ABILITY TO DO THESE THINGS WITHOUT HAVING TO WASTE MY TIME KEEP GOING TO THESE USELESS MORONS!!
  17. Taken my car to the garage this morning to replace the O2 sensors just got a call from them saying it is too low to get on any of their ramps apart from the MOT ramp which is always being used. I said to them that the O2 sensors point up out of the engine bay so would of thought it would be easiest (or maybe even the only) way to get at them would be from above rather than underneath. They said they need to get at them from underneath and they cant help me. Is this correct or are they flobbing me off??? I am guessing they tried to put it onto the ramp to try and see them in the exhaust and couldnt get it on the ramp and just gave up without looking from above.
  18. pun intended? very harsh, i know!
  19. what is in a membership pack? i dont think i ever got one?
  20. oh right perhaps not a good idea then!!! By the way Mark, I have taken my car to the garage today to get the O2 sensors put in. Havent heard back with any bad news yet so i am hoping i will have it back tomorrow morning. Do you know if you will be around next week to hook your conzult up to it again? I am doing the south central rolling road day next weekend so would like to give it a health check before it put it through that!
  21. to be honest with you i was thinking about going down there to see if there was anything salvagable! waste not, want not!
  22. s hit the bed! Not mine thankfully! where abouts is that? Its strange how the centre of the back passenger alloy has stayed intact!
  23. i dont think they pay alot less in than us in France. My girlfriends family live in northern france near the france-belgium border and they go over the border to belgium to buy their petrol. I dont think many countries in the west get really cheap petrol anymore except probably the americans!
  24. Bp and esso (or exxon-mobil as there proper name) are not the same company now (or ever have been) by any extent. according to the Forbes worlds richest companies Exxon and BP rate 4 and 5 which is a greater GDP than most countries in the world put together. THE TOP TEN 1.Citigroup 2.General Electric 3.American Intl Group 4.ExxonMobil 5.BP 6.Bank of America 7.HSBC Group 8.Toyota Motor 9.Fannie Mae 10.Wal-Mart Stores so action like this is not going to touch them. also as z32dave says, just because the sign on the forecourt might not say BP or Esso there is no reason the petrol sold there is not from one of these guys in one way or another (subsea extraction, refining, transport site are all owned or partly owned by the oil majors). The petrol is most likely to come from the local refinery or storage site. Most of the petrol in the south of england will come from Exxons refinery near southampton for example. I am all for fighting to reduce the ridiculous price of petrol but dont think strikes like this will have any impact unfortunately
  25. that is the ones Gio. It looks like the ones facing down are rectangular and from the first link you posted yesterday that makes them "infra-red spotlights". Would like to know what exactly they are because if they are speed cameras i may be getting more than one letter through the post! however as you can see from Gio's photos it is normally pretty difficult to get above 40 on that stretch of the A40. I live in Chiswick diddy p but work just down the road from you in Sudbury so i take the A40 everyday. Dont think i have ever seen another zed on my commute in the 2 years i have been there!
