  1. I am just hazarding a guess.... Has the wishbone been changed for a pattern part on that side? or too short? If so It could be too short and putting strain on the longer driveshaft, causing it to flex slightly causing vibration fatigue to the shaft? Only an idea.... If it were being pulled apart it would pop out of the gearbox..... so must be under tension? To snap the shaft, one end is stopping/ turning slower and the other continuing to turn. Also are the driveshafts weighted? out of balance? Could also be the diff inside the gearbox? Edit:- Just found this article for you..... http://www.justanswer.com/vw-volkswagen/4ezcs-vw-golf-fifth-passenger-side-drive-shaft-fail-gearbox.html
  2. I need the oem brake line fixings for the front of my Z.... I fitted a set of Goodridge back in 2001 and only got 2 hoses in the kit..... I have come to realise I should have had 4...... The lines were too short and have been erm.... Modified to fit..... I am now replacing them and need the missing clips and associated parts to fit the correct ones finally....... Has anyone got a breaker with these parts or spare ones please??? http://www.courtesyparts.com/46201b-spring-lockbrake-hose-300zx-z32-1990-1996-p-41197.html
  3. After having 2 of my pride and Joy's stolen in the past, I can confirm that Karma is real..... My new XR2i was stolen by someone i knew and he went to prison and shared a cell with a friend of a friend... lets just say he didn't enjoy his time inside nicknamed 'buttercup'....:whistling: My Orion 1600E with a series one RS turbo engine fitted that I spent thousands on was never recovered, but the thief was grassed up by someone he knew and someone played baseball with his knees....... Not me..... Another victim.... lol Sooner or later the truth comes out and they steal the wrong owners car and get found out....... One of the thieves that stole mine copped to the police for 32 other thefts for a reduced sentence..... The police love this as they then solve 33 cases in one go...... he got 3 years..... I was livid at the time...... less than 1 month per car.... It took me years to pay for the my car...... I lost my Snap-on tools and my entire CD collection that was in the car when it was stolen.... all uninsured!!
  4. well checked and appears to be too much??? Dipped and cleaned dipstick 6 times and it appears to be at the top of the measurement part.....?? The torque converter was removed and drained..... Does it take a while to circulate round and refill it? I used some of the 5 Ltrs to prime the torque converter before reinserting into the box..... as much as it would take...... There must have been some dexron still in the box...... Do I warm her up and go though the gears again and retest??? i don't have much experience of auto boxes.........
  5. Well going out to check fluid level on the Z's auto box....... I have warmed her up the other day, gone through the gears a few times, moved her off the drive and back onto driveway and then it poured down with rain... I have put 4.5 to 5 litres in so far as I spilt a funnels worth..... damn flexi funnels.....my plenum took the brunt of it.... took a few boiled kettles to remove it..... lol I am just going to check dipstick from cold and see if it is reading...... I know it is 8.5 litres in total, but not sure if anything was left in the transmission when I drained it.... So here goes.....
  6. Happy Birthday ........:happybday:
  7. I wonder if we can have a religion based on petrol heads / car enthusiasts?? The US seem to have loads of different obscure religions! Surely we are allowed as well...... after all there is a Jedi religion now..... lol If God created Man, then through that he created the combustion engine and the Z....... Hmmmmm..... I think this will need some further quiet reflection!! I found it......... In the bible it say's When the Jews went to arrest Jesus "they approached him in one accord" ??
  8. Tonight in the dark I fitted my new fog lights thanks to Mr. F. (MJP- Eastern Auto) sorting me out a nice new pair of front sections to replace my worn out pair.... :thumb up: As most of the work is by feel alone behind the bumper it made it easier I think.... lol Sorted out water leak in boot after I found a large hole behind the rear light unit, where some muppet repaired the rear panel where the lights fit into with half a ton of filler and only spot welded in an old section of a donor car.... I will need to dig all this out at a later date when I get the bodywork sorted...... Till then it has had some polyurethane coating and filling to stop my boot filling with water when it rains..... and I mean fill.... lol Speakers refitted in their holes after having new foam surrounds replaced by me as they split last JAE.... I was saved by Ian (vodkashots) and his special glue last year.... it lasted months as a temporary fix..... cheers Ian.... Tomorrow is test transmission fluid day and book her in at work for a full brake fluid change........ Hopefully the BMW mechanics at work can do it for me for a reasonable price....:scared::pinch::crying:
  9. Easy enough to pull out....... just ease it out slowly...... if you want I will do it for you? (gulp!!!!)....... lol
  10. If it is one like this then it is a quick release with a release arm at on end?? If it is like this.... Then you will need to ease it out a little bit each end so as not to bend the pins on the chip..... As AndrewG said.... Make sure you are earthed and don't damage anything in the ECU with a static charge..... Or use Noel's way and go medieval on the little bugger........lol
  11. I have now had email confirmation that I have been ordained as a Reverend in the Humanist church..... Unfortunately, the UK government do not see this as a real religion, but it is still legal in the USA..... It cost me nothing, I am not religious, I do have beliefs, unfortunately Jedi master was unavailable...... so I joined the Humanist's..... I will be blessing Z's at JAE with my holy transmission fluid if anyone wants to join in? Our father Mr. K, Who art in heaven, Hollowed be my Cats, Thy Car show's come, Wheels shall be spun, on tarmac as well as asphalt. Give us this day our daily Z, And forgive us on the bypasses, As we forgive those who try to race against us. And lead us not into gas stations, But deliver us from Diesels, For thine is the Kingdom, V6 Power, Continuing story, For ever and ever Ah 'Z'. :innocent:
  12. This is why I fitted one of these when I socketed my ECU last year...... http://uk.farnell.com/aries/28-526-10/skt-dil-zif-lo-pro-28way/dp/1674771?CMP=i-ddd7-00001003
  13. Outside early and hit another problem.... The 2 bolt flange on the replacement exhaust has been buckled and is banana shaped.... My neighbours must love me trying to straighten it at 9.45 with a lump hammer...... It was like church bells, or at least I tried to make it sound like that in case anyone complained..... lol Anyway..... The exhaust is now on and as straight as a lump hammer and straight edge will allow on a Sunday morning..... May have another go later today with some heat added....... lol Off the do bolts on transmission to engine and fluid top up.... Testing when battery is recharged again.....
  14. Well I should have said "finish the work I need to do to get her back on the road"...... lol
  15. Outside early and hit another problem.... The 2 bolt flange on the replacement exhaust has been buckled and is banana shaped.... My neighbours must love me trying to straighten it at 9.45 with a lump hammer...... It was like church bells, or at least I tried to make it sound like that in case anyone complained..... lol My father in law did catch my neighbour out pretending to fiddle with his rear tyre on his car whilst eyeing up my tools at the end of my driveway. Father in law arrived in my close to find him bending down and moving towards my toolbox..... :shifty: He beat a sudden retreat when he realised he was being watched, got in his car and drove off...... Gotta love an opportunist..... at least someone apart from me has now seen what they also believe to be a bit dodgy..... Maybe we are assuming the worst given our previous problems with him.... :whistling: Anyway..... The exhaust is now on and as straight as a lump hammer and straight edge will allow on a Sunday morning..... May have another go later today with some heat added....... lol Off the do bolts on transmission to engine and fluid top up.... Testing when battery is recharged again.....
  16. I prefer the subtle 'Invisible' one myself Gary....lol
  17. Digging out my other half's industrial overlocker and singer sewing machine as I type........ lol
  18. Well I am getting her back together slowly.... Starter rebuilt and fitted Exhaust nearly finished Diff oil changed Should be running again tomorrow.... fingers crossed as long as the transmission I fitted is all okay...... and I did it right..... lol Pictures to follow tomorrow......
  19. I may have to leave this group tomorrow if I finish the Z..... lol
  20. Well I got the diff oil changed after flooding my driveway..... I made the mistake of reading the 'how to' on the Australian owners website and followed the instructions...... only to find the 2.8 litres listed for the NA is actually very wrong..... and my driveway was covered as it should have read 1.4 to 1.5 litres...... Driveway wiped up but now needs a deep clean when the Z gets moved off it..... I also got the middle exhaust section bolted up, the nice newly reconditioned starter wired up.... It only took me an evening to clean the internals of the starter motor, reset and de-burr the brushes, clean the commutator and remove any damage, lubricate with some Ceratec now it should work for a long time to come.... Hopefully tomorrow I will get her finished and fit the new exhaust tailpipes, last 2 bolts holding the top of the engine to the transmission, refit the battery, finish filling the transmission to the correct level, touch in the underseal and get her back on the floor..... Plus a load of other parts to fit.... lol
  21. Still working on my Z.... But now have broken exhaust stud temporarily replaced with a high tensile bolt, starter on, test pipes fitted up.... Going for full exhaust fitting and testing later, possibly tomorrow......
  22. Speak to Max at Fairfield...... He valets the new and used BMW's for them......... and is very experienced...... I am getting him to do a full valet and detail on mine before heading up to JAE....
  23. I snapped a stud off of the Turbo elbow and need to get one for tomorrow.... Anyone know what size these are please? It is one of the three that hold the cat / decat pipes on..... Cheers Russ
  24. This is what I showed Richard on my favourite international ordering site..... lol http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Car-Dash-Mount-USB-3-5mm-Jack-AUX-Extension-Flush-Mount-Audio-Cable-2M-72318/32391503724.html
