  1. There is a member on here that is importing superb quality Z's from Japan...... They have had a few stunning examples already......
  2. Today I cleaned out the transmission cooler using brake cleaner and found it was blocked up...... It isn't now....... lol Refitted the cleaned filter and the missing 2 mountings from inside the transmission...... I started to drill out the snapped transmission bolts.... started to get dark so giving it a break till tomorrow!
  3. It must have been a rear end shunt...... lol

  8. Well I picked up some non hardening sump sealant, 20 litres of QX dexron III and 3 cans of brake cleaner for £60 at eurocarparts.... Ready to clean out the cooler and lines now.... When the rain stops..... lol
  9. Sorry to hear this Richie..... I hope you your wife's back gets sorted and all goes well..... If I can ever help you out then just ask.... Russ
  10. RIP Lord Montagu........And thank you for a wonderful place to visit......
  11. I will let you know tomorrow if I need it..... thank you for that Richie..... much appreciated....... Russ
  12. Well dropped the pan and found it was red..... but also black..... and filter clogged up with particles..... so cleaned up everything and going for round 2 tomorrow..... Hoping it will be okay now she is cleaned out...... going to flush through and give her another try...... fingers crossed.... If not it will be next year before I can afford to sort this out.....
  13. Well posted in other thread that my replacement auto box is same as my old one...... dead.... lol The replacement box was full of fluid ..... but I had decided to replace this just in case.... I didn't flush the cooler fitted to my Z or their lines when I changed out the old box though..... I am guessing it is full of old black fluid from the old box.... Today I drained the replacement box and dropped the pan off..... the new oil is still red, but is full of black muck and the magnet had lots of magnetic sludge stuck to it.... The filter was clogged up..... so hoping it was just blocked up.... I have found a loose metal joiner pipe inside the box. On my old box it has 2 metal retainers stopping it dropping out, but the replacement box I fitted has No retainers and the pipe drops out, so going to fit them from the old box.... I know the torque converter was fully drained and refilled with fresh fluid as I did this prior to fitting.... My old box also had a drain plug in the sump, so guessing it is of a pathfinder or similar and was swapped before I got her.... I am going to refit filter now I have cleaned with parts cleaner and degreaser, fit new gasket and the old units sump with the drain plug. I have scrubbed sump and magnet in cleaner. I will have to flush the cooler and lines to make sure they are clear then refit them.... I was thinking of flushing the box a couple of times with cheapest dexron i can find, before finally filling with some good quality fluid if the box works okay....? Oh..... I also snapped 2 of the bolts on the sump as they were completely seized and just snapped straight away... rest came out easily.....
  14. Looking really nice there Taff........
  15. Going to tackle removing the tranny sump tomorrow to look at the filter...... praying it is just a blocked filter from some muck in the cooler when I changed the transmission.....
  16. Looks like it did coming out of the bottle..... pink.... no change and no muck on dipstick.... - - - Updated - - - Sorry Joel, had a snickers and evening out with friends..... all ok now....... lol
  17. No, I used the torque converter I got with the box from slick pete.... Looked a million times better than the one that came off with the old box.... I can only think that the transmission cooler had loads of debris stuck in it and it has worked it's way into the replacement transmission and filter? The fluid seems to be right at the top of the dipstick after only adding 5 litres when I refilled the replacement box.... fluid on dipstick looks new and clean.... Going to drop the transmission sump and take a look incase it is just the filter..... Tomorrows job though..... I just need a gasket for the NA auto box now.......
  18. To be honest the pressure from family to stop working on my Z and spending any money on her is getting to breaking point..... I spend about £100 a month on her over the year and try to work on her when it fits into everyone else in my families schedule..... I had saved for JAE ticket and fuel, etc...... but now I would have to spend it on getting her running....... Hoping it is just a blocked filter.... So just need to drain the new fluid, get the sump dropped and check the filter and fluid level..... Then I will know what's going on..... But not looking good for JAE......
  19. Went out to check transmission fluid, all seemed okay so went for a little spin. I broke down again with the exact same problem as last auto transmission..... warmed up, went through gears okay, got a few miles down the road and then she just lost all drive!! Let her sit for a few minutes and she goes a few hundred yards and loses drive again..... Had enough now....... Looks like JAE and this year were a pipe dream for me...... For the first time in the 14 years I have had her, I am contemplating selling her and giving up.......
  20. Ask Mike at MJP.... our very own wealth of knowledge of all things for your Z........ Doh....... beaten to it by Si again....... lol
  21. Starter is drivers side at back of engine bay...... Check battery connectors for corrosion between clamps and lead battery terminals.... also the earth strap to the bodywork from the battery.... short thick wire to bulkhead.. maybe bad connections?
  22. Well I went out and started her.... after 2 minutes my 3 ear old woke up and I was asked / ordered to desist from waking the local children and annoying the old folk in a 3 mile radius with the car running.... lol I did quietly refit the battery & Battery clamp clamp after painting the clamp and rods gloss black the other day..... I also received the Lambda bung to fit the centre section of my new exhaust..... Fitted that tonight...... now I just need to swap the centre section with the old one I refitted..... (Different pipe size!) Looks like I need to jack her up again to fit some bits...
  23. I am going to go and do this now...... Thanks for the advice.... I also received one of these in the post from the US today..... Definitely heavier duty than the one fitted to my Z.... a lot chunkier....
