  1. Eric, Sorry to hear you news, matey, it's pretty shite out there in IT-land at the moment, although ironically I have had to take on 5 new contractors in the last few months, albeit to work on a short-term integration project, which when finished means we'll be redundant! Stick with it, though, once we get past the war etc, and things settle down, hopefully companys will start to take a few more entrepreunerial risks again, and some of the good times will be back .... Can't stand all this looking at the bottom line all the time .. it sucks!!!!!
  2. Hehe ... sorry mate, should have said ... it's the last iteration of the 200sx .. so yes, it is a Nissan ... good for 198bhp, rear-wheel drive and pretty well equipped ... check one out! (I think they look nicer than a Skyline GTS, since these don't have the "brutal" appeal of the GTR - could be much easier to insure as well, although don't quote me on that). HTH, John.
  3. I can certainly give you some advice on how *not* to do it ... I bought a 4litre jeep as a second car (more for space than economy really) ... Doh!:D Missus likes it for shopping too (double Doh!) It's fine for saving the miles on the Z (primary objective) and if any little scrotes get any ideas about driving into me again, as with the last Z, they're gonna regret it!! But as for fuel .. it makes the Z look frugal on the run up the M20!!! Hehe ... still fun though, in a different kinda way! As for a sub-10k decent alternative, I'd look for an S14 (late, low mileage) ... you can pick 'em up for way less money than 10k ... more economical than the Z - reckon on 28-30 on the m/way, and feckin excellent motor ... I had one before my first 300, and it's one of the best cars I've ever had ... fast & reliable. Just my 2p ...
  4. LMFAO!!!!!!!:D :D (just my kind of humour)
  5. You tight arse!!!!!!!!!!!!;) ;) ;) How unreasonable ....:(
  6. Sorry Stu ... don't like that at all ... and Mac's right, it's not gonna last 5 minutes in our sh*tty world of speed ramps and high kerbs ... I gotta agree with Wazza, OEM is the best (biased, of course) ... Hey, why not check with Paul, I think he might just have got one LOL:D :D
  7. Paul, does this mean you parts have arrived? ... LOL!:D :D Good news matey ... looking forward to the first "restoration" meet ... hurry up and get it fixed!;)
  8. Nice one, John .... :D :D I have had the pleasure of driving one of these beauties at Millbrook, last year, and I have to say, driving a manual one was a very similar experience to my own manual TT ... blokey from Aston didn't seem that impressed when I told him, though;) The sounds was awe inspiring to say the least, hitting the starter button and hearing it snarl into life, was pretty near orgasmic!:p CheerZ, John.
  9. LOL .. sorry Darren, had to chuckle;) That's the problem with being on the Folkestone riviera! ;) Well, that was fun, although one too many coppers around for my liking ... nice to be out and about without that roof in ... think she deserves a clean now ... Oh, btw ... tough luck Chris:( - if the feckin insurance co every sort their sh*t out - perhaps you can be mobile again;)
  10. LOL Tim, Yeah, just off for a bit of a blast down the A20 myself, so if you're out and about, watch out on the M20!!!:D I just love those bends round the Leeds Castle bit, then the short dual carriageway down to the J8 roundabout;)
  11. Excellent news matey:D Roll-on the fix and then we can organise the next Kent meet!;) Can't wait to see the 'ole blue beauty up and running again! CheerZ, John.
  12. Jay, Also got the same letter from Nissan ... thought long and hard about it .... even the missus was keen, although it would have meant parting with the 300, so fook it!;) I do think Nissan had a bit of a cheek demanding 2k for a car you can't even see in the flesh, and as far as I'm aware you could only order the top spec one for 2003, if you wanted the base model you need to wait 'til 2004:mad: Good 'ole Nissan. I do know, however, that a couple of guys from the Z-club (including Mike Feeney) have ordered one! You can read all about it on zclub.net. CheerZ, JOhn.
  13. Stu, you vulture ....
  14. It James 300 ... actually, I think they look pretty cool in graphite on a silver car ... dunno if there's any pictures to hand ... he's on his hols at the mo ... Stuart (smw1) mighht have some piccies of James's wheels since refurb ....
  15. No, I don't think it was the only six wheeled car ... anyone else remember the Panther 6? 8.2 litres 200 mph ... remember them from catalogues of the early 80's, don't know if they ever actually made more than a prototype, though ....:D
  16. Whey-hey ... Nice one ... (edited due to mistaken identity .... doh!) Glad you're happy, nonetheless ...
  17. Nooooooooooo ... it's a very poor imitation of the original IMO (which happens to be one of my fav tracks) .... now the original version really does make the old hairs stand up!!!:D Sorry Marc ... it's just too bad to be true;)
  18. Ahh, you mean buggers!!! ;) ;) Oops, now I'm at it too!
  19. I don't know if it's allowable (seeing as we already have one), but I'd like another AC/DC number "Back in Black" .... just see below!;) And yes, I am a metal head .... as it goes ....:D
  20. The demise of another Z is always a disaster in my book ... but it could have been a tragedy, so thank god you're both OK ...
  21. Couldn't agree more, Jez, certainly when I've been there I've always heard "neesan" mentioned with a good deal more reverence than it ever gets here ... And quite right too!:)
  22. Hmm, good point Stuart ... perhaps it's more down to contemporary alternatives ... yes, I do think that each iteration of the 911 is/was a supercar, when compared to it's peers ... I don't think a 300 will out perform a 993 or a 996 unless modded, though ... definitely consider these as supercars right now ... Even 964's that came out at the same time as the 300 were about on a par, I think ... so yes ...
  23. I've gotta agree with Hairsy here, too ... perhaps Nelson's even looking for a little encouragement to keep the car ... dunno .. I understand the frustration in looking for a Z, I've been through it twice at high levels of desperation ... even so, it *was* a bit harsh; don't think Nelson needs to be the whipping boy all the time. You sure she's OK though Nelson? if you're not getting a thrill out of it ... I've had a 200sx and 3 zeds now, but the thrill has never gone from the Z's and although the S14 was a fine car, it never held quite the same appeal .... go-on keep it!!
  24. I agree it's most definitely a GT in the same mould as a DB7 ... last year me and a few mates were lucky enough to blag our way in on an Aston Martin testing day at Millbrook ... the idea was to generate a few sales (sorry guys) ... Anyway, after blasting around in a manual DB7 Vantage (yum), I came to the conclusion that it was a very similar overall package to my manual TT ... unfortunately, the blokes face dropped slightly when I told him that ... but it's true, albeit that the Aston had vastly superior brakes ... no fade when stamped on from 150!! I always thought that the old definition of a super-car was a true 150mph plus motor; in which case it qualifies ... I know this is a bit out of date now, but there's nothing to stop a GT being a supercar, is there?
  25. Uh-Oh .... There's no way James will be going oh holiday now!!!!!;) James, James - you still with us mate, or collapsed in heap?;)
