Passing more water than an OAP!
Not sure if its the pump, there were a few spots on the road when I pulled up to my space but in a matter of an hour there was a rather large puddle on the floor. Not looked since as it was a little toasty :)

Passing more water than an OAP!
Good Afternoon Folks, I havent long had my car back from being repaired where I had a water bypass done. Now that is all nice and water tight at the back it appears (from what I can see) that one of the seals on the front water pipes has sprung a leak. Is this an easy fix / common problem? there appears to be a fair bit of coolant over the top of the engine etc. I have had the car for three years now and it has always seemed to leak something from somewhere! Cheers as always, Dave.

Only 3000 miles!!
Mine has done about 600 miles in the last 12 months And most of that was done between different garages trying to get it fixed. Glad to say and that it has a fresh ticket as of a few weeks ago and is working like a dream thanks to Jeff! Dave.

ZedWorld (again)
Another satisfied customer! Picked my car up today and enjoyed every minute of the 120 miles home, didn't skip a beat. I look forward to putting a few miles on it this year :) Cheers Jeff!! Was nice to finally meet you!

ams radiator
I have an AMS rad, never had an issue with it. Intact it's probably the only thing on the car that works properly :) I couldn't give you any comparison on it, I only got it as mine was knackered and there was a favourable exchange rate.

losing a lot of water!!
The heating matrix was changed a few years ago. Would it be something a standard garage could do of would it be specialist only? I would love to get my car up to jeff and get it fully checked out but I'm not sure if it would make it :)

losing a lot of water!!
I don't think it's the head gasket, the cars got issues but there's no gunk in the engine that I've seen.

losing a lot of water!!
Hey folks, I have been losing water for ages now but it's starting to get worse. I can do a 10 mile run and require to fill up the rad between 1 and 2 litres. When I pop the bonnet I can hear a hissing coming from the back of the engine. I'm guessing 1 or all the pipes need replacing. Is this an engine out job or can it be done in situe? The MOT is due in a month so I am trying to work out whether to scrap or repair. Any idea on what sort of price I would be looking at paying and is it something that any garage can do or is it a specialist job? Cheers as always, Dave

Another week and another problem!
Another week and another problem! :) I have had my car back a few weeks, before that it was off the road for 6 months. Since then; 50% of the time it struggles around the 2 - 2.5k rpm mark, seems to clear itself then revs sluggishly. If I drop it out of gear (auto) it revs quite happily, its only once its in drive that I get these problems. Any other time it drives fine. I have not driven it since japfest due to not knowing the cause. Last year I spent thousands trying to get all the leaks sorted, it was leaking from more holes than a collinder! Now I seem to have a slight leak from the autobox. Could Low oil in the box cause the symtoms above? If not could someone please suggest a few ideas I can check out? Many Thanks as always, Dave.

When do you when enough is enough?!
Just got my car back after 6 months off the road. As the ECU was fubar'ed I treated it to a Working Standard ECU, new series 2 PTU and an oil and filters change. I have had it back 2 weeks and already it is starting to play up. Most of the time it doesnt like revving above 2k to 2.5, If I drop it out of gear it revs quite happily so I can only imagine its an autobox issue. I have had the car 3 years, the first of which was pretty much trouble free, I spent a grand when I first got it to make sure everything was ok and it seemed to be going fine. I now have a folder full of reciepts for the last 2 years totally around 6 grand and it still isnt right. The last MOT cost me in excess of £2100. I have only driven around 1000 kms since. Its now coming to that time of year again and I just cant see me putting it through the MOT again. Don't get me wrong, I love driving the car but I have no faith in the car not to break down so I don't dare take it on long journeys. I appreciate its a 19 year old car but I would like to go a few months without digging deep into my pocket to buy something else that is going / gone wrong. I have no idea what i'm going to do yet, Just feel that its getitng close to saying enough is enough! :(

Still not starting!
Smithy your a gent! Virtual pint for you! Swapped ECU's today and it started first time. Just have to get hold of another now! Just need to tax it and im back on the road! Many Thanks to all who have given helpful advice in my previous posts as it now has given me a little more understanding of the car :)

Still not starting!
The story continues ... I will put down a list of what we have tried and hope that someone can suggest something new! Battery is flat but when we try something new and try and turn it over we jump it off another car. New series 2 PTU CAS checked and sparking. ECU checked and showing code 55 Alarm checked and its not the imobiliser (consulted alarm technician) Fuel Pump working Cambelt fine and dandy. We have traced a fair bit of the electics and the readings are the same as the 300 parked next door!. Hopefully it will be something slight that we have overlooked but we really are starting to pull our hair out and for those that have met me I havent much to lose! From what I have been told the spark plugs are not sparking. Everything else seems fine! I am either looking for any new ideas or possibly some kind soul who could take a look. There would be petrol and beer money in it :) The car is currently in Fleet, Hampshire! I would like to get the car to Japfest but its looking less and less likely at the moment! Please help! Dave.

Not starting!!
Hiya Paul, The car is now down in Fleet, Hampshire unfortunatly. Just checked with my old man, the cambelt is definalty ok. He also asked me to reiterate that all seems OK except there’s no power to the plugs. I’ve ask him to check power to/from the PTU again when he has a moment. Its never ending :) Cheers, Dave.

Not starting!!
Tried disabling the alarm today but the same problems. Starting to get bored of it all now. Run out of ideas!!!

I will take a look Jimmer cheers, Although they Cambelt was changed less than a 1000 k/ms ago. Always worth a look Dave.

Not starting!!
Cheers for reply fellas, We have tried locking / unlocking the car with it attached to jump leads It has had a brand new loom fitted and we have traced and compared meter readings with another zed and they are identical Pretty sure the ignition light is on and I'll ask my old man to check the fue pump. Any easy way to tell besides the car springing to life :) Cheers, Dave

Not starting!!
Argh! Still no luck, As I have no access to the car, my Father and his next door neighbour (a mechanic and zx owner) have been trying the suggestions given but still to no avail. This is a list of checks that they have made (copied from his email!) CAS Checked according to instructions. Heard injectors. Apparently OK. PTU Changed – Apparently OK. Removed Fuel Pump EGI fuse and turned key. No flooding. Run Test Mode on ECU. Code 55. NO Malfunction. Only subset of all possible checks but ECU apparently OK Turned key - fuel but no ignition/spark Removed coil – connected and tested with spark plug – no spark visible Used meter to check individual coil pack – NO power but there is small pulse from crank sensor. Seems to being told what to do but no power to actually do anything Is it possible that an immobiliser has kicked in and stopped engine starting? I opened the car boot with key when the battery was flat (about 4 months ago J). Apparently some cars (Rover etc) have immobiliser control connected to boot lock. Is there any way that the immobiliser can be switched off? Can the immobiliser be immobilised? Think we’ve checked everything until you have more suggestions. Next logical step seems to be diagnostician. No idea what this would cost. Perhaps you can source one? If anyone has any more ideas to try I would be very grateful! Cheers, Dave.

I got stung there, I still have issues with the car and will take it up to jeff's when I get some confidence back with the car. Might be a while :)
