The story continues ...

 

I will put down a list of what we have tried and hope that someone can suggest something new!

 

Battery is flat but when we try something new and try and turn it over we jump it off another car.

 

New series 2 PTU

 

CAS checked and sparking.

 

ECU checked and showing code 55

 

Alarm checked and its not the imobiliser (consulted alarm technician)

 

Fuel Pump working

 

Cambelt fine and dandy.

 

We have traced a fair bit of the electics and the readings are the same as the 300 parked next door!.

 

Hopefully it will be something slight that we have overlooked but we really are starting to pull our hair out and for those that have met me I havent much to lose!

 

From what I have been told the spark plugs are not sparking. Everything else seems fine!

 

I am either looking for any new ideas or possibly some kind soul who could take a look. There would be petrol and beer money in it :)

 

The car is currently in Fleet, Hampshire!

 

I would like to get the car to Japfest but its looking less and less likely at the moment!

Seeing as you have another Zed parked next to it, whip the ECU out and try that, only takes 10 mins to do.

Had a similar problem about 8 years ago, after so much fooking around the problem was traced to a relay in the panel next to the accelerator and under the fuse board. This relay got it's power from the ECU, no error codes and everything else like in your list checked out okay too.

Try that, won't matter auto/manual etc as your only going to fire it up.

I have also had a faulty ecu. Made the engine run like a bag of spanners. also made all the fans in the engine bay stay on constant :smash:

Could well be a faulty CAS unit. Also a good check is to unbolt the CAS (mark position first) from the engine, turn 'on' the ignition (do not engage the starter) and then rotate the shaft on the CAS unit. You should hear the injectors firing and the fuel pump running and if you remove one of the plug coil packs and insert a spare plug in it (make sure it is earthed) that should also spark. If you don't have fuel then check the fuel pump ECU which is fitted behind the N/S rear side panel.

Swapped ECU's today and it started first time.

 

Just have to get hold of another now!

 

Just need to tax it and im back on the road!

bet you're chuffed now dave...back and rolling :)

Can sometimes just be the ECU connector was overtightened making it bow out at the edges a bit and stops it making full contact.

Might be worth checking it wasn't just that before you bin the ECU.

Well done, glad you got it sorted.

Now just to confirm the part is fooked that i think is fooked inside your ECU, stick it in the other Zed you have there. It should start the 1st time, but not any more thereafter. If it happens like i say, there is a way to byass the fault yours had until another ECU comes your way.

yea try putting the broke ECU back in, secure.

 

sometimes if the ECU isnt in firmly it wont start,

 

 

did exactly the same as you did on my S13, lent an ECU, still didnt start. (didnt put that in all the way either)

 

so when put my ECU back in firmly and was fine :)

 

unless yours has just stopt working?? (supose it could happen, just like a CD player or telly brakes)
