What is 'clearance' light?
I've just fitted some very nice clear front indicator lights on my import Zed. I've fitted chrome indicator bulbs but can't figure out what the second (outside) bulb is for. On the moulding it states '12V 21W' for the bulb which is the same power that was in the 'old' lights, but I can't find any way for this bulb to light, either on the old lights or the new. I've tried every light switch I can find and tried them all with the ignition off and on but they still won't light. Can anyone tell me what these lights are for and how they can be switched on? Dave

300zx Promo Dvd
Just finished watching the Nissan promo dvd for the 300zx which the postman delivered this morning via eBay. It is twenty minutes of interesting video commentated and demonstrated by Tiff Needall. As it's been around for 16 years or so I guess most of you will already have seen or own it but there are probably a few new Zed owners like myself who would get as much pleasure as I have out of watching this DVD. It only cost £2.98 incl. post so if your interested here's the link:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/300ZX-NISSAN-PROMO-DVD-Z32-300-ZX-350Z-280Z-260Z_W0QQitemZ280026130397QQihZ018QQcategoryZ60881QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I don't get commission by the way lol - Dave

Do You Want To Group-buy Indiglo Dials?
NOW WE ARE TWELVE :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: (The system wont let me use twelve smilies!!!) I will be starting a new thread for this group-buy in the next few days in order to firm up the process by getting those interested to make a firm committment. First though a number of things to update you:- 1) If the twelve who have expressed an interest on THIS thread make a firm committment on the NEW thread then THIS GROUP-BUY WILL DEFINATELY GO AHEAD as I will take the financial risk of buying the full twenty in the expectation that I will be able to sell the remainder to later buyers. 2) 'MYGarage' has committed to a price of £59 per set including delivery, presumably in bulk to me. (I still think we should allow for a price of £60 - which is still half the price of the last indiglo group-buy). 3) THE SET WILL COMPRISE SEVEN DIALS, with EVERY member of the group receiving ALL the following dials :- a)Temperature b)Speedo with boost cutout c) Speedo without boost cutout d)Boost e)Tachometer f)Oil Pressure g)Fuel. This means that if you now have a N/A and later buy a Turbo, or vice-versa, you will be able to transfer your dials. 4) The delivery time will be six weeks from date of order. I expect to place the order before the end of September. The guy at 'MYGarage' is away on business until 22nd September (probably somewhere in the far east where these dials are actually manufactured) but he is answering my emails. 5) VERY IMPORTANT We need to provide 'MYGarage' with a full set of Turbo instruments, including the casing, for them to make the templates. They do not have to be working but must be complete including all needles. THESE INSTRUMENTS WILL NOT BE RETURNED! Please post here any items you are able to contribute, if neccessary we might be able to make up a set from odds and ends - provided the final article is a complete Turbo set in the casing, so if they are 120mph, 180km/h, -14/+14 or whatever I don't think this will matter. If anyone outside the group can contribute anything we would all be very grateful. 6) 'MYGarage' will require 50% (£600) up front when the order is placed with the balance being paid before delivery. I am suggesting that each individual member pays an initial deposit of £20 (I will need to make the total up to the £600 required). When the dials are ready for delivery each member must pay the balance outstanding (£39/£40) (I will make the total up to the £1180/£1200 required). 7) GOOD NEWS It seems that 'MYGarage' could supply 10x White background and 10x Black background for no extra cost. That sounds like really good news for those have have stated a preference for the black but are accepting the white to aid the group-buy. I therefore intend to order 10x white and 10x black for the group-buy. That's all for the moment, but the most important thing we have to do is obtain the set of Turbo instruments as soon as possible. WE'RE ALMOST THERE - DAVE

Air-Con not working!
Hi - I have managed to get to the wires but as I can't actually see, only feel, the wires I am having difficulty disconnecting the rubber plug you mention and I'm frightened of damaging it if I try too hard. Does the plug just pull out or does it twist first and then pull out. Also do I bridge the plug on the end of the two wires or do I bridge the socket it has just come out of? Dave EDIT ADDED - I have had another good look and my two wires go into a hard plastic 'plug' about 5cm long and 2cm diameter. This appears to be held on by a large nut which it seems will need to be loosened/removed before the plug will come off. It seems to be a slightly different setup to what you've experienced and I am reluctant to try and loosen this large nut without knowing what I am doing. I will not proceed any further until you, or someone, gives me more advice. Thanks for the help you are giving me. Dave

Air-Con not working!
O.K. I have found it now but how do I get at the leads to bridge them? Do I have to remove the trays underneath and does the engine have to be running for the a/c clutch to work or does it only need the ignition on? Dave ps. my cylinder is aluminium colour and it has a label on it stating that R134a is to be used. At least that sounds like good news.

Trying to find a good picture...
I'm lucky enough to live only a few miles from Fairford (in fact I often watch the air show from my back bedroom window) and I remember a few years ago driving on the Cirencester to Fairford road on a show day. Suddenly, right overhead a Vulcan appeared doing a 'wing-over' must have been no more than 3 or 4 thousand feet. It was one of the most spectacular sights I have ever seen. What a beautiful aircraft it is, certainly on a par with Concorde if not better. Dave

I didn't know there was a Vulcan still flying! It would be worth the drive to Southend to see it. Dave

Valet key - 'Full' key replacement
I agree, if you want a master AND a valet key then your eBay link is a good bargain. I have just bought TWO master key blanks (the black ones) off an Australian site and they cost me £5.72 including postage for the two. They were priced in US$ (not Aus$) but Paypal takes care of that. the link is http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NISSAN-300ZX-1984-96-Deluxe-KEYS-Key-Blanks-2-NB_W0QQitemZ130022044611QQihZ003QQcategoryZ40016QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem . Although they are on a buy-it-now price of US$20.95 you will find no-one bids on them so you should get them for the US$7.95 start price as I did. I had them cut at a local keycutter and they both worked perfectly first time. Dave

Thanks SuffolkZX, I already have Daves_Zed on my list and have pm'd him. Are you sure he's the right guy as I have found a member named daveszx on the members list, could this be him? By the way, I've just sent an email to mygarage-glasgow asking for their timescales for manufacture....I will keep you and everyone else informed. Dave
