Once its rusty its shot imo, your better off looking for another tailgate. You can get fiberglass replacement spoilers, not really sure if you would be able to cut it right though to have that and the perspex stip.

No the standard spoiler wraps around so you cant use the perspex stip with it There are lots of options tho It goes rusty there as the foam spoiler holds water

Tailgate skin or spoiler that encorporates one was the way I went. My stock spoiler was knackered but I was lucky in that there was no rust in my tailgate

Tailgates are all the same, different between 2+0 and 2+2 I think but only in size, someone might correct me there? Yes the stock foam spoilers are shite they all fill up with water and fall to bits. Remove your spoiler and it will look like the pic above (with the bumper still on) Then you can see just how bad the rust is and if its worth fixing and fitting a new spoiler or just waiting for a whole tailgate to come up for sale.

They are designed to fit in the same place, should be ok on the crankcase but I'd relocate it anyway. The fact that your old S1 is still on the crank case probably hasnt helped things. Just to show how crap the S1's are I borrowed 3 "tested" ones from mates while waiting for my new one to come and none of them worked! S2 one I got from the us has been spot on so far tho, make sure you get the piggy back loom thats in the pic and it will plug straight in.

Check the ptu and where is it located? Is it still on the crankcase? I got mine from yank ebay for £25 delivered after my S1 ptu died and caused a really bad missfire.
