help
Oh and to prove a point,my new Z now needs, heater matrix, gearbox input shaft bearing squeels more and more for first 3 mins or so ,so that will need doin, rear lights playing up,interior lights, aircon us,but hey, thats all part of buying and selling private,i wanted the Z,i got it for a great price considering all the other work done to it,and i knew that sooner or later i will probably have problems, but thats Z ownership for you,i would not dream of phoneing the guy up and giving him grief,we all know the score when buying/selling private, infact we have talked since about other things on the phone(he has some juicy bits for sale that i am going to post up for him on here, all Z stuff) but i dont blame him or accuse him of selling me a Bad One so to speak, christ i got it for nearly £2,000 less than he wanted,i am still happy :) Tony

help
After 2 days of selling my first Z i had a phone call,"Its fooked,No5 pistons gone,i want me money back bla bla bla",anyway when he came to check over car he brought "Specialist" with him, after 2 hours and no probs he went away happy,so,after about an hour on the phone i got to the bottom of it,he had been out with his mates, razzin it all day, about 11pm comes to roundabout in MK,brakes late, sideways, screems it around it,lost control again, then something went!,he said  limped home, garage done a test,No5 shot, you can guess what i said after that :xxx: ,so Marcus, car was ok when he bought it,theres no law for ignorance on his part IF the motor was shot, was he deaf, could he not hear it was knackerd, did it rattle, smoke, perform like a fiesta,NO,course it did not,he was responsible for satisfying himself that it was ok and happy to purchase at that price, there is no way ever that you are responsible for anything after the car was sold to him, under a private sale "NO COME BACKS"on your part, and it will be forever that way in this country, just tell him politly these things happen,he was unlucky, but shit happens, tough but thats life!. Guy offered to p/x 8series BMW for my 300?
Looks like its the best of the 8s, taken from above site," The 840 Ci Sport is definitely the right one to get. It has the 4.4l V8 which does not have the Nikasil problem of the earlier 4.0l V8 and slightly less complex than the V12. Also has all the M-tech bodywork and mirrors. You get a little less power than the 850 but it really does not matter (the points add up just as quickly!) I got the Rac to inspect mine (bought last Sept, also 97R, but 64k miles). Don't buy it if any of the electrical bits don't work (and there are many of them). It isn't cheap to run with a >£50 tank fill. I have been towed twice for basically the same problem (a blown heater valve, and subsequent blow out of a weakened heater pipe). Loading onto a low-loader can be a problem as the skirts have very low-ground clearance. When the sensors go haywire (once in 6 months - oddly enough the temperature sensor went sour), then even BMW dealers have problems diagnosing them, although any good independent can do the servicing. I bought a Peake Research R5/FCX-II Code/reset tool of my own as some garages do not have 8 series on their diagnostic systems (I am also a gadget freak so this satisfied other urges). Despite a few problems, I do not regret buying the car at all - it is fabulous and made even my dearly beloved 635 I traded in seem like a smelly old boneshaking penny farthing." :)

Guy offered to p/x 8series BMW for my 300?
mmmmmmm, had my M5 for around a month, soon got very very bored, problem being nothing happens till 4000rpm,very heavy, drinks fuel worse than a Z,if thats possible, parts are megga costly from dealers,no difference there then  ,840 has nice shape, superb build, straight line speed, wollows a bit on corners, especialy at speed, have seen a few used as track cars and do go well if suspention sorted, what year is it,as i believe there were some issues on V8s around 1992-4,check out this site http://www.bmwcarclubforum.co.uk/forum_topics.asp?FID=51&PN=1 :) Tony

My sold ZX hits problems!
Bloody hell, tho not uncommon, have been witness to this and had tales from others on this happening, tho in one case 5 out of 6 disintergrated and fooked the engine big time,i take it they checked the cylinder with an endiscope etc, lets hope theres not more bits in there somewhere, maybe was very lucky with the particles getting out through exhaust valve and missed the tub impellars :( Tony What plug make was it Tanx.
