  1. Luvly mate, have seen this same Z on track, think last time at Castle Combe in april. Tony
  2. Well true about the oil,as i should of said 3-4k miles or every year,as i was told some months back, but could not quite remember, and the filters i were told you may as well do anyway as its not costly to do at same time, like doing a cambelt on a Z and not doing water pump and thermostat ,its cost effective in long run to do them at same time. Just trying to help, two heads better than one sometimes :) Tony
  3. Well you could be right, but doubt it,its got many years left as yet,and they still import them here,so demand is there,if you look at the price of Skylines and Sups,Mitsi GTO's etc prices over last 2-3 years have allso come down a fair bit, main thing is the cost of running these cars, you HAVE to be prepeared to keep on top of them, not put things off until it results in more cost etc,,most people looking for a sporty type car are not wanting this kind of commitment. One thing,we would not be having this kind of conversation if we were in the USA,to say the Z32 is huge out there ,would be an understatement, but of course theres thousands of Zs in the US,things are cheaper, fuel, parts, support, etc etc, think the Z will last out there a good 30years or more, and what with the good dryer weather they have in most parts they dont rot,in fact all Z marques are still big over there, some one in the trade other week told me that the new 350Z has now sold more than anyother Zs in the UK to date, now out numbers us all,not sure if thas a good thing or not,but at least the Z in some form or other will be with us for sometime. On another note,Mazda look like they maybe setting up for the new RX7 Sports Car next year, according to Sport Z magazine couple months back Nissan will be doing something very special with the 350Z,tit for tat maybe who knows, will be interesting to see,as its Nissans 30th aniversary of the Z Iin 2005 ;) Tony
  4. Sorry to hear your having troubles mate,i had exactly the same problem on my previous Z,it turned out to be the line solenoids, and if you keep trying to use it,ie not going into D3 it will burn out the bands, they may be on way out any way,the garage replaced bands, clean out the shite(was alot of crap about by then)replaced filters and fitted new solenoids, all in £1000,you may get wind of whats going on if you run box for a while then check the smell from oil on dip stick, slight burnin smell from it means rouble.Have you done the Auto Diagnostic Check(its in the manual and if my memories correct theres a post and link to it on forum) Another thing all auto box owners should be aware of,on these cars they need to have new filters and oil every 3-4 thosand miles to keep them sweet(according to the experts) Tony
  5. It had a new clutch fitted in may this year, but only done about 1500 miles since, would a new realease bearing of been fitted at same time(depending who fitted it of course  ) Tony
  6. Just to add ,second gear bit notchy till its warmed up too, like clutch still slightly engaged, :(
  7. This was my first thought Andy, but after 3 mins or so it goes, its like a high pitched wine, hard to describe, though it was from front of engine lower down but its more prominent round gearbox area when in car,if you put foot on clutch there is only a very slight change in noise, and i mean very slight, after its warmend up no probs at all,if it was release bearing you would get it every time you changed gear at least would of though, and the release bearing does not spin when not in use by clutch so after talking to MF he sure its the main drive shaft bearing, part number 32203 ,so i got the bearing kit,the reason the noise goes is that the oil in box heats up with bearing and it shuts up,this only does it when Z is cold ,say after 3-4 hours. What you think!,eitherway fookin box got to come out :( Tony
  8. My thoughts aswell, have a prob with my manual box  ,not major, but its got to come out, eventualy, main shaft bearing noisy on start up :( oh well, never ending circle. Tony

  20. :D ,It had the potential to do low 10s,watched it and talked to import company that owned it,they had just got it in and were giving it some runs to see what it could do,the driver was a bit scared to be honest,it did a wheel spin first 250ft and ran a 11.3,i knew it was capable of low tens,i think it will be seen again next year ;) ,somewhere, was running big T78 etc  Tony
  21. Anyone else having this problem,i keep getting it pop up when navigating the site, end up having to come out of site to get on correct threads/posts,doing my head in, http://300zx.co.uk/forums/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=326020 Tony :(
  22. Well, having owned Auto's and now a Manual Z they both have good points and bad,the manual seems a bit more corse to be honest, but great fun,2nd and 3rd gear impressive, where as the auto delivers the power more even/gradual,like it would do.I miss doing 100mph in an auto then flooring it,the change down and power rush is very impressive,of course more driver involvement in a manual, and i am enjoying this, especialy when dropping from third to 2nd and going some, both cars are great, and lets not forget that there are more Auto's than Manuals,so its understandable that it may seem like they go wrong more often, and seeing as theres not enough manuals to go round so to speak, buying an auto is for some the only option. As for 1/4 mile times etc, well strange one this,no matter whats been spent ,modified, what type box,i have never seen one go better than 12.98sec,(was JN at Elvingdon,in Auto)at 1.2bar,bigger tubs,intercoolers,555,JWT,etc,.I have run a 13.5 a while back, have seen Autos do a 13.3 and Manuals 13.3,in all stages of modifications, infact Colin Ashford ran a 13.1 early in the year and has not run better since,in an Auto!,so take ya pick on either auto or manual, sod all in it really, both great cars. Must say i am looking forward to MAC's beast, just of late there has been a lack of inclusion with a lot of mags etc with the 300ZX,getting tired of hearing about"this Scooby that fast, fast EVO,fast Skyline, fast Supra, etc etc,my fingers crossed for MAC,lets hope it blows em all away and Z frenzy hits the media. A few months back i nearly bought a 11sec 1/4 Soarer, just that i wanted to show that non mainsteam jap cars can do quick times and top speed runs,i was getting tired of seeing the same old stuff tearing down the airfields,i did think about going down the same route as Mac,but the cost outwayd the reality, maybe someday i will do it,i have a few ideas,as i think theres a lot more life left in the Z marque yet ;) Tony
  23. I just new it,sooner or later, would of had money on it :D
  24. Well what i did was to cut each new connector to be left with about 3inches of wire, then cut in turn the old connector wire at the top of cap, join up the new with old and plug on and tidy up,be carefull tho,on old wire you will have one thick one thin wire, but on new connectors they are reversed,so you go from old thick wire to new thin, old thin to new thick wire,do this on all six,i was going to solder them but could get no shrink wrap,so i used open ended butplugs, did not fancy cutting out and disturbing all the loom thats combined with main loom either, just in case it all cracked and made things worse, tho must say the wiring looked in good order, just my injector caps were shot :) Tony
