No mate, the pistons were for the donor engine for my Turbo conversion of my convertible, the engine was bought already broken :D

Paul C you use Semi Syn and you need a new turbo/s? Mac you use RS10-60 and you got a cracked piston land, although it was nothing to do with the oil. Duff again uses RS10-60 and engine RIP! CJ had a knacked engine and if he had his zed serviced at SE nissan, I presume he put RS10-60 in it? Also making a presumption so correct me if I am wrong, but didn't 51x have a rebuild and also use RS10-60? Stuart cracked piston and used RS10-60? Jock you use Magnatec and if I remember right you had an engine rebuild? Guys don't take this personally and if I am incorrect I apologise, but these are just a list of people off the top of my head, God knows how many more are out there :cry:

So you are denying any possibilty that your choice of oil might have contributed to your engine problems?

How can people on here recommend RS10-60 and semi synthetic when they are getting their engines rebuilt and their turbos are going? These two things signify to me that something is wrong and that oil could be one of the factors that contributed to it?

So Ryan you are saying that silkolene 10-50 gets thinner when hot, than other 50 weight oils?

How does it get thinner when hot, I thought oil thickens when hot and with the 50 weight it is over spec in thickness for our engines!

Firstly in answer to your question Karl, only use a good quality brand name synthetic oil! If you are in Dire financial straights then you can get away with a semi for a while! I heard the same story about someone pouring silkolene out and it being like water when it was cold, I have heard this is a good thing though as it will reach parts of the engine on start up faster than a thick oil.

Martyn is very good and commutes through that area regularly he will probably do your work on site if you want?

Smithy I think you are getting me mixed up with someone else! Adam the cost of converting to a T top would be out of disproportionate to selling yours and getting a nice T top instead. The slick top model is quite a desirable item and I don't think you would have a lot of problem selling it if it is a TT!
