I always thought it was for sound proofing rather than heat insulation. I have taken mine off.

It worked more or less instantly for us Martyn, and has no effect on the dog either, we just leave them plugged in all the time around the house.. Not noticed any difference in energy use either. I was astonished at how well they worked for us..

I use microfibre clothes instead of chamois leathers.. Probably a very similar material to your Speedo towel Si. Chamois leathers really are average aren't they :rolleyes:
