had an idea
I think it's a very good idea. From my point of view, when I joined, it felt like it was a very closed in group and was a proper outsider that would have trouble infiltrating the well established ranks. Now I've been on here for a little while I do feel more at ease but perhaps a nice big welcome to new members would be an idea. I might sound a bit gay, but you asked.

Z wont start!!!!
I'm sure someone else will be able to tell you whereabouts the starter motor is(as I have no idea) but you could always remove it and check it by using the battery and some jump leads. Does sound like it could be the starter though, it's spinning but not engaging.

Poss wheel shake solution
Cheers for all the thoughts guys. Right, I bought the wheels new about 4 weeks ago, I had to use some 6mm spacers on the front to clear the calipers, as soon as the wheels went on I noticed the shake. Had them balanced again just to be sure and they were all out, the weights are on the inner edge of the wheel. Spigot rings were supplied and fitted. I also made sure that the spacers were centralised. I thought that one of the wheels might be buckled but the fact that they're new and been re-balanced I've kinda ruled that out, I saw them all being balanced but didn't study them that closely. Could one be buckled? Nothing noticable under braking. If anyone who would know from driving it lives close enough and wouldn't mind, I'm happy to meet up so you can drive it. Just put me out of my misery!!!!!! :(

Poss wheel shake solution
It's hard to tell if there is shake all the time as I'm running rubber band tyres but definaterly from say 55mph on it is very noticable. At 70mph on the motorway this morning it was at the point where I didn't want to hold the steering wheel any more!!! It was oscillating about 5mm which is really uncomfortable and I'm sure it's gonna shake something off soon. I had all the wheels re-balanced last week, no joy though.

Poss wheel shake solution
No mate, as far as I know the car is standard apart from the wheels. (chassis wise that is). They are brembo discs with standard TT calipers. They're not warped either as there's no pulsing through the pedal. :headvswal

Poss wheel shake solution
There is deffinately wheel shake and what I would consider quite a lot, it's not just a little bit of vibration. It has only really shown itself since I changed from 17s to 19s, there was some shake before but it seemed to only be when the car was cold???????!!!!!!! It is most noticable from about 55mph onwards, when I get to about 80 it becomes really uncomfortable. Please help, it's driving me mad. :headvswal

Is there anything missing?
Can anyone tell me if there's anything missing from these pics of my gearbox? Just going through a process of elimination for my shaking problem. Cheers guys.

Poss wheel shake solution
Cheers for the info but mine's still running on standard suspension????? There does look to be a fair bit of camber on the front though. I've put some pics up on my thread in the 'wanted' section, if someone can have a look and tell me if I'm missing something I would be grateful. Cheers Alex.

Poss wheel shake solution
Well, it seems like a few others here, I have been suffering from a 'bit' of wheel shake. I had it in the garage yesterday and gave them a list of things to check (HICAS arms, ball joints, tension rods, bushes, propshaft etc) and they went all over it and said that it was in fantastic condition. :) The only thing they could come up with (as a starter) is a 'harmonic balance weight' which is missing from the back of the gearbox. Looking at the back of the box (mine is a manual, not sure about an auto) there are 2 studs where this weight should be. If anyone can get me one or tell me how big/heavy this weight should be it will make me very happy as then, hopefully, it will sort my problem out and I'll enjoy driving my baby again. If you have one for sale that would be even better. Cheers guys.

The UJCC are having their Hampshire meet the date of it will be July 2nd at 2pm starting location will be Rownhams Services M27 west bound again then going for a drive through the forest again and then onto a nice big pub which has all been sorted out. Im opening this upto bike forums aswel to help get ujbc busy The meets are good and open to all Jap cars, last time mine was the only 300zx there so it would be nice if a few more could make it. People from the club come from all over for this one as it's quite popular, Dorset, Wiltshire, East and West Sussex. I know there are a few UJCC members on here so spread the word. If you wanna have a look at the club clicky Ultimate Japanese Car Club

Can I fit?
This may sound like a silly question but could the wheels be machined to increase the offset and so bring them inside the arch a bit or would it compramise the integrity of the wheel?
-
Can I fit?
Can anybody help me? I want to get me new rims on before japfest so time is running out!!!! If someone can tell me for sure there are no probs with fitting and sticking out of the arches I'm gonna buy 'em. £1500 is big money for me so I just want to be sure.
-
Can I fit?
This wheel hunting is doing my swede in!!!! Found a lovely set of 19s, 8.5" fronts and 10" rears, the only bit that worries me is that they are a +20 offset. Can I fit these without having to mod the arches? Or will they stick out and have to be flared? Help me please........... I will be forever greatful. :D

45 miles on £15 ???
It's a manual jap spec TT.
-
45 miles on £15 ???
It sounds like I'm doing really well with mine, I'm averaging at about 21mpg. I went to Taunton and back on Monday and it cost me £44 and did about 250 miles including some blasts as my mate had just picked up his GT4. Normally driving to work and back I get about 50 miles to a tenner.

Fault codes on my ECU.
How? Where? Or would I be better off taking it to Ztech?
-
Fault codes on my ECU.
Since there have been a couple of threads recently regarding ECU checks and the fault codes they throw up I thought I'd check mine. It came up with 42(fuel temp sensor) and 34 (detonation sensor), is this bad? I've not noticed any difference in performance or any untoward noises, does the ECU store codes and then need resetting in some way or do I have an expensive problem to fix?

was thinking at work 2day......
Centurions, wasn't that the one where they said "Power extreme" and then had weapons and stuff beamed to them.

was thinking at work 2day......
The two kids are called Wilykit and Wilykat. I can't believe that someone else remembers The New Schmoo, that thing rocked. Remember when he turned himself into an air raid siren.............

Blue/grey smoke from one pipe
It does sound like the exact same problem I had. Have a look at both valves on the side of the plenum, on mine, the one on the drivers side had obviously been leaking oil but the passenger one was dry so I just put 2 and 2 together and thought it best to change 'em. Give Ztech a ring, they'll sort you out valves and pipes for around £65.

Blue/grey smoke from one pipe
Changed the PCV valves today and all the pipes bar the short one at the back of the engine. Hopefully this is problem solved. 2 blokes, 4 hours, 2 valves, 4 pipes, 1 lost clamp, lots of swearing. What a complete arse of a job to do, I'm not the best mechanic in the world but on the other hand I'm no novice either (I've done an engine swap on my own before, not on a zed). When they say there is no room to work, they ain't lying!!!!!!! I would say if your a pro you can do it on your own. If not, get a mate to help.
