  1. Good point that. Mine is definitely in that state. Not put back on the way they came off for leathering in the past by whoever done it. Also remember noticing the door card clip on fasteners broken and missing at a few points. Researching on lessening the gaps between panels and bodywork at present...
  2. Hello Zedders, Anyone won a battle with their interior creaks and rattles? Mine seem to be more from the rear end of the Z and things just sound lose from a few places. Got meisters on and ride is harsh and I feel everything the car goes over. Going to look into loosening the suspension up a little but for interior, I'm getting ideas in my head to bother with stripping the whole interior and sticking some kinda foam for padding behind every panel and get everything tightly fitted on. Also getting to a point where I want to hear as less as possible from outside. Just read up on window rattles as I have that too. Anyone done such thing? Any ideas what stuff would be good for padding? Many thanks :)
  3. Hey peeps, Been a while that my aerial has remained stuck open. I can hear the motor grinding when I turn on/off the headunit but no movement on the aerial itself. Not looking to use the radio in the Z anyway so am looking to disconnect its wires. Is it possible to somehow press the aerial back down??
  4. I've owned a Z past 10years now and never came across a Z specialist down this area. What needs doing to your car?? You get great help here and more or less every issue has been spoken about already for you to get an idea and start getting your hands dirty working on your car yourself and to be honest, that is the best thing to do for non major work. Otherwise, you will end up paying alot of labour time, not get the job you want done properly and leave with more other problems. Believe me I been there.
  5. Guys, on cold starts, especially the first one of the day, what are the points which would lead a Z to rev up and down slightly?? Not major ups and drops. Just slight which settles after about 30-40 seconds or if the fan is put on. Just trying to work out if this would be linked to the original issue this thread of mine states as I'm certain the two issues appeared together.
  6. Yes I'd be up for that sometime :)
  7. Hello neighbour. I'm in Hounslow too..:thumbup1:
  8. Sounds like a similar issue. Does the AC compressor operate in some sort with the AC off?? It's belt off course rotates. As I've got the noise there with the heater/ac on or off
  9. Hey guys, I gave another go on locating what the noise was about and again its hard to locate it due to the engine sound but it seems like the noise is not from the cam cover area but lower around the CAS area. I tried the screwdriver to ear technique and from the CAS unit my hearing senses say I'm getting a grinding kinda noise from it. Does a CAS unit do anything that if gone wrong, could give out a grinding/whirring noise?? Alternator I'm thinking will be more on the left side of the engine so don't think its that. What else at the front of the engine could cause a grinding sound?? I don't know why but I'm also thinking of the water pump and the aircon unit..
  10. lol 'hold to your ear test'... please explain..
  11. From what I could figure out its up there yes. The belt is not touching as I felt that area of the cover and can't feel any vibration from it. Even forcing the cover back and forth I'm not getting anything I would call a touch on the inside. Alternator would be far lower I would of though. With the engine on it was difficult to pin point it but it seemed like it was somewhere up there or around that area. Same old story where the car is fine one day, and when you come back the next, its got a problem risen out of the blue. I specifically remember it being great one day, parked it up for a week or so in the cold, started it a week later and the noise is there....
  12. Thanks for the input znut :) Dammit. Only got the cambelt done by Zedworld a few months ago and now this. Going to give it a thorough look during the day tomorrow. Hopefully I spot something else. If not, gotta somehow get this 100miles away to Zedworld..:scared:
  13. Hi everyone, My Z has recently developed a whirring noise. It's clearly heard on cold start ups when sitting in the car. Its not constant but on and off with seconds intervals. Once warm, the sound does calm down. Inspection showed that its not coming from the engine itself but at front around the top right cam cover area. Perhaps even behind the cover. The link below has a video of it and you can clearly hear the crackling/whirring as the camera gets close to the cam covers. http://s1020.photobucket.com/user/streetrider007/media/IMG_2624_zps4dab934d.mp4.html Any thoughts on this?? Best wishes, Zee.
  14. The access to the power/boost is quicker. In autos, i used to always get those few kickdowns where I'd think to myself, the car should've done quicker than that. I think a lot auto drivers know of that moment. With the manual that doesn't seem there. But again I haven't used the boot yet to test fully what a manual does..
  15. I definitely gotta get used to it.. All these years of auto and now Z with a clutch, I felt abit lazy lol but from stop is definitely responsive
  16. Well, after 8-9 years of Z ownership and being on my 3rd Z, I finally for the first time made the decision of handing my Z over to Zedworld. It was treated with a manual conversion and a cambelt change plus other niggly bits. From now on, if there's anything I want to get done to my Z, Zedworld will be the first place I shall be contacting. I am very happy with the work done and the customer service and communication throughout was spot on. I too would say just like many others, if you want work done to your Z, (especially the newbies as its them that get stung the most and believe me I know about that), get it over to Zedworld. Big Big thankyou to Lynda and especially Jeff for his time and expertise. I shall be contacting you again surely sometime in the future..:) Best wishes, Zee.
  17. Great, I'll search the reviews for both. I remember seeing pics a while back of a setup with purple calipers. Any idea what they are called? Ebay showing a set of willwoods..
  18. I'm considering upto a grand..
  19. Hello Zedders, I really need to upgrade my braking system soonish. Standards are shite as it is and having 19inch wheels make it worse. Brake fade and that annoying/embarrassing whistling sound when braking needs to be got rid of. Changing pads helps a little but the problems return in a few months. So need a good upgrade. What are good options?? Need the whole standard setup off. I'm not a racer or a Z thrasher. Don't like people hearing how loud my exhaust is but every now and then, if the straight road is clear..... You know how it is lol.. So for my piece of mind, I want a good setup behind my wheels. Any recommendations or thoughts towards the right direction?? Do we have a trader here doing brake kits?? Many thanks Zee.. :)
  20. You do know the answer already.
  21. Hey guys, I believe my autobox has gone bust. Normal drive the gears seem fine and changes from 1,2 and 3 are fine and smooth but it doesn't go into 4th (overdrive). When boosting, the gears don't want to change at all. Whichever gear its in while boosting, it stays in it and keeps revving high and I can hear a groaning around 3-4k plus rpm which seems to be coming from the engine but its gotta be due to the gearbox. The second I let off the accelerator, it changes gear right away. The kickdown is slippery if not going into 1st. From 2nd to 1st kickdown is fine but then keeps revving up. From 3rd to 2nd, its real sluggish. Revs go up a little then the speeds picks up. It doesn't go past 3 at all. It has a couple of times but pops right back into 3rd. Drivers side exhaust is smoking and also from behind the engine. I can't see any leaks behind the engine so believe the smoke is coming from the gearbox too. Sometimes it does feel that the car is moving off from 2nd gear when stopped. Fluid is looking brown/yellow. The smoking is blue so perhaps the rear main seal of gearbox and engine is the culprit. Any of our fantastic Z specialist here able to book me in for this?? Or where should I go or contact for this work?? Work required urgently if possible. Otherwise the poor thing is parked up. Many thanks. Zee.
  22. Thanks bud. Will top up whatever was lost but believe I've caught it in time. Just wondered if there were any known issues of a wet ptu.
  23. Hey guys, As crazy as it sounds but my ptu has been getting wet. Upon giving my idling engine a look I noticed that there was some steam coming from the front of the engine. Turns out that my radiator hose has a tiny hole in it and probably from before has been spurting out water all over the ptu. Any ideas what negatives of a wet ptu might be?? Anyone got a good radiator hose?? Many thanks
  24. Hey guys, I managed to do the PCVs and all 5 hoses. Not that bad of a job really. With some patience and common sense, everyone can do them from home. Definitely get new hoses if someone is looking to change PCVs. Old hoses will definitely rip. Anyway, changing them hasn't stopped my Z problems. Which I'm explaining again as follows: - 1. Smoke on idle. On cold start up, the car is fine idling. Then as the temperature rises, the smoking starts. Just the drivers side exhaust. Starts off with white smoke then slowly turns into blue. Definitely smells of oil burn. With this, there is smoke coming from behind the engine too. In the autobox dipstick area. I can't make out where its coming from when I look into that area. I can see my divorced downpipes and they are spotless and no oil residue anywhere in that area. They both definitely start off together when temperature rises. 2. My autobox. I am sure I noticed not long ago, that there was smoke coming from underneath the car but at further inspection it had gone so thought maybe it was just me. Upon normal driving, the gear changes are perfect except for going into 4th. It doesn't go into 4th on normal driving. A couple of times it has gone into 4th and then jumped right out of it and gone back into 3rd. Upon putting the foot down in 1st, the car picks up fine but then just revs up redlining which makes me ease off and then right away it goes into 2nd. If in 2nd, it drops to 1st fine when foot is down and then again, redlining and engine or intake screaming loud. If in 3rd and foot is put down, there isn't what we'd call a kickdown but like a real slow gear change which gives time to the engine to rev up a little and then it picks up speed fine and changes to 3rd fine and then just stays in 3rd reving up and picking speed. There are no noises from the autobox and never felt any funny jolts or anything that could've indicated to me at the time that something has gone pop with the box. But, everything was fine up until a couple of months ago when I decided to take the induction apart for clean up. So in order, Car fine but oddly used to get lumpy on idle so took the induction apart for new HKS elements and gave maf an over clean as inside mesh looked clean anyway. Once all was put back, the gears started doing right away all I've mentioned about autobox above. And the redlining I believe has led to the smoking. The smoke behind the engine, you can clearly see the gearbox from that area. All seem linked??? The autobox fluid looks clear yellow and I know its meant to be redish/pinkish. The smell of it is different to do the smell that actually comes from exhausts and behind engine though. A popped autobox I can understand smoking from behind engine but would it smoke from exhaust too? Or do I have more than one problem there.... Bloody annoyed with this thing.
