    Number 5  £20-£40 for a Series 1 (prone to failure) £110-£140 for a series 2 (bombproof)

Remove your airbox/filter from the MAF. Cut a small square of mdf to go over the hole and drill four holes so you can bolt it to the MAF. Then drill another hole in the centre and push an old tyre valve through it. Araldite the bolts and the valve securely in place on the mdf to stop air leaks. Then put the assembly on the MAF and tighten nuts on the bolts. Use an air compressor to pressurise the system, careful not to go high, 5psi should do, as you are pressurising some vacuum system as well as boost system. You should hear leaks, or feel them with a wet finger. Alternately if you think it is a vac hose leak, remove each hose with the engine running and plug the hole with your finger, listen for a change in engine note. There are hoses on the balance bar, sides of the plenum, under the throttle bodies and on the lower intake pipes. If some larger hoses are leaking check the jubilee clips on: the short thick rubber hose off the turbo, the four large air hoses at the front, if you remove the arch liners you may get a look at the intercooler hoses (this was where mine was), or you may have to take the front bumper off.
  3. stops it from completely blocking the intercooler! :)
  4. that is one seriously nice zed. looks like the Z1 place in america, could be wrong. enough said really. rofl at the overspray
  5. recirculating valves? you must have good ears! try a pressure leak check, but dont overpressurise as some of the system is designed for vacuum.

if only she wasn't in pieces  (again!)
  7. top it up with dextron 3, happens now its started to get colder.
  8. Read this thread yesterday, and then today just changed my pcv hoses and this came loose! Glad id just read and know its dangerous, its tie-wrapped for now, getting some jbweld on it next weekend. Definitely interested in some sort of metal cover.
  9. What kind of rough-running are you getting - hesitation, stalling, unstable idle or what?
  10. i've read lots about top link bushings creaking on cold mornings, so you have a few things to check now :)
  11. i bought mine in July, gone a couple of hundred miles at most and spent approaching £3000. :o
  12. Happy Birthday mate! :duffer:
  13. i remember you said you got a cracking price for that service, who was it by again?
  14. Two screws under the base. It will be loose at the top as the two screw shafts at the top will have broken and crumbled, also causing a loose hazard switch. VERY common.
  15. try a known good PTU.
  16. I'd like one which has speed/revs/boost on the HUD. In my opinion having the rest on your HUD is a bit pointless and gauges more than suffice. By the sound of geeky_hawkes it may come in at the £100 mark? bet there will be a lot of takers at this price!
  17. any pics or trailers? cant find anything
  18. some cambelt covers!
