My Z is 1990 TT SWB Manual.
I went out to my zed last night and it wouldnt start. The starter turns the engine over and over but it doesnt catch. (The starter has a habit of just grinding on its own sometimes but thats another story.)
Checked fuses and connectors (had history of connector problems) still no joy.
Took coil pack out, there is 12v on the middle connector pin but i dont think im getting a spark. Although i have a worry that the spare spark plug i was testing it with wasnt seating right, do zeds have longer spark plug ends?
About to run ECU diagnostic to see what it flashes.
The main purpose of this post is: is there any way of checking my PTU (its series.1) is working without opening it up, or borrowing someone elses? Also is it worth checking the CAS with the above symptoms? PTU and CAS seem to be common causes of starting problems, no?
Another issue: since the Zed is a new purchase and i am about to do a full service on her, is it worth, in your opinion, changing all the coil packs?
Many thanks in advance!
