I have just put Falkens on, with avery similar tread pattern to the SO3's and cost £73/each incl. bal. and vat etc. OK grip and noise.
  2. Almost certainly a broken wire or loose connection on Auto ECU. As prviuos post you need competent Auto box specialist to check it out. I used QAS in Bristol. It took them a week to find after checking everything else, including cluthes and solenoids. So hopefully yours wont be so expensive if you point them in right direction. The fault does not show up on the diog. test. The Specialist must have all the electronic diog. equipment to do the pin tests etc. Hope you get it sorted soon.
  3. does it also return to almost idle speed when you take your foot off the gas i. e. no engine braking? If so it is almost certainly a loose or broken connection on one of the wires to auto box ecu. You will have to get a pin test done at an Autbox specialist. Hope thats all it is , as this is what happened to me.
  4. Powerbulbs don't do H3c, I think. :(
  5. They are made by PIAA, jap co. -avaiable from their stockists, see http://www.piaa.co.uk for local dealer. Will take 24hrs or so as they come from weston super mare. They are H3c super white 55w, but give equiv light to 85w. I have them and they are a very bright white. The downside is that they cost £23.00 each + vat but are a straight forward replacement. I also have the 100w H1 mains and 55wH3 fogs. You can get 65w H3c, by Gaurdian, which are slightly cheaper at about £14 each. :D :D
  6. Whats a flare?
  7. Gaurdian do an H3c 65w for about £14 ea. your friendly accesory store should be able to get them in about 24hr. Also PIAA do them, H3c 55w super white with 85w eqiuv. output, so no worry about overheat or current draw on wiring. You can get them in about 2 days, again from any PIAA stockist. There is a catch though they cost £23.00/each +vat. But a great improvement-you can see where you are going!:D
  8. I had the very same problem a few weeks ago. Tried everything, changed AFM,ECU no difference. Took it specialist Autobox specialist, who did pin test on ecu and got odd voltages all over the place. They chased these back to a main connector block in the foot well and it was wet, so shorting out. The water was coming from the targa top drain which goes down the A pillar. The plastic tube is supposed to go all the way down to the outside but was short, so when it really rained hard the water dripped on to the connector. Therfore I think you have a short in the electrics, but of course it could be anywhere, but suggest you try looking where they found it in mine first.:D
  9. agree 265's too big for 8.5 rims. If its not too late get 18" x 9.0 or 9.5 wheels and get much more tyre choices.
  10. I can only suggest taking it to a really good autobox specialist, with good diagnostic checking equipment and experienced mechs. They should do a complete pin test on the ecu in/outputs and if thats ok, check operation of clutches/solenoids. I had selection problems when I first got my car, turned out to be a broken wire ffrom ecu to gearbox. Still cost £300 to find it though, but this also included check of internals and flush etc.
  11. I think I am right, in that you will need 245-30 profiles to keep rolling radius about the same on 19 rims. Thats stiff! Any larger aspect profile will give you a bigeer o/a diameter equivalent to raising your FD ratio, and raise your car up a bit!
  12. Further info. on autobox, when in normal and you floor it ( and I mean to the floor), it should switch to power mode unyill you back off. And ( I may be wrong here it also switchs the A/c off to max. out power? Durasteel I believe is an alloy of steel and aluminium mixed in about 50/50 so it is lighter than steel and stronger than aluminium. I dont think it corrodes. Welcome to the madhouse! :D
  13. Just fitted mine from Luke at the Zcentre £58+ post. Nice and stiff, rather than tose jelly filled things. Remember to heat up in hot water before fitting, makes it easier.:D
  14. You can get owners manual from Luke at the Z centre. http://www.zcentre.co.uk
  15. Structural Engineer with consultants in Bristol. Recent owner since May. Only post or browse when something goes wrong - so pretty active then! Use car every day, perhaps thats why. Regards to all Don't know what Iwould without all your help.
  16. Try AndyZ on the trade area of this site, or http://www.zxparts@mindspring.com in USA Good luck, I know how diddicult it is to get parts for Jspecs. You could also try the US equivalent of this forum http://www.300ZXclub.com
  17. OK, thanks for that, I was just curious anyway. I did not think it was really a viable option ( value for money wise) Already have HKS ex.- no cat. Happy with performance really, otherwise I would get TT, most cost effective i suppose, but not too trusting of turbos, too many horror stories out there. Not just on here but friends with Saabs, 200's etc. :D
  18. Got my 85w H3c blue diamond bulbs today, from http://www.classic garage.com at $10.96 each + $10 shipping took 5days. Already upgraded main and fogs as they were easy, but couldn't be bothered with all that fiddly stuff so ordred these as they are a straight replacement - ace!
  19. PIAA in weston -super- mare, they have a web site, stock them but AHHMM!! they work out at about £ 800/pair -bulbs are £100 plus each +vat. I would want them to be Lasers for that money so they could burn everything out of the way.
  20. Excuse my ignorance, but whats an underdrive pulley and how does that improve performance/power. And where is it or where would it go?
  21. Anybody chipped an N/A. Is it worth it? How much? What sort of benefits do you get if do or even if you can?
  22. I suggest Protech Ltd. in Nailsea nr. Bristol. Try http://www.protech-uk.co.uk or phone 01275 859955. They do speedo conversions, de-limit, reset cruise, Fog light conversions etc. and of course all Tech. work. They also do SVA's so now whats needed to get through MOT and can do all that. wellcome to the madhouse :p
  23. Thanks guys especially aaronjb, --OOoooopsss., must remember to put back what you take off. Found Shims, will put them on this w/e. Let you know if that does it :D
  24. Used copper ease from the word go, no difference! Not so bad today, Except when just crawling in traffic, screams like a banshee, very embarrasing. I now knock it out of gear and use the hanbrake, when crawling in traffic. My wife wont get in the car untill its fixed!
  25. Fitted new front pads (Nissan ones), but they squeek like hell (old ones ok), especially at low speed/pressure. Took them out and chamfered the edges, roughened surface and guess what 10 miles down the road and they started squeeking again. Any body else had this problem. Will it go away after abit. Its driving me up the wall.
