I cannot understand why people get so wound up about arguments on here. It does not do you any harm and you are not forced to read it. I get p***ed off if I kerb my wheels or the price of petrol goes up but if Mr X has a slagging match with Mr Y then so what, what harm does it do you. The ironic thing is that a slagging match usually lasts 4 or 5 posts then you get about 20 posts of people mutually slapping each others backs with all the moralistic stuff like "This is not what we are about", "Think of the starving babies in Africa" etc etc etc.

 

People who get wound up about the fighting are quite happy to sit and read every post in the thread then start complaining about it. Why?? if im not interested in a thread i simply move onto the next one.

 

With regard to traders then if someone is making something new or has a good deal then I want to know about it, you still have the choice to buy or not. Equally if someone provides another member with a s**t service then that story should also be told.

 

This forum still does have a very usefull and serious role, any argument threads are often amusing and are an addittion to the forum, they do not take anything away. A helpfull thread is not deleted just because someone posts a p1sstake up. Membership is getting bigger all the time and the meets are getting better and better so it cant be all bad. Saying the forum might as well not be here if it isnt moderated is silly, do you really want to see all the good stuff stop just because you get wound up about other peoples dissagreements.

 

Who deems what is offensive?? There is no words or pictures anyone could post that could possibly offend me, I may not like them but once its gone from my screen then its gone from my mind as well. This isnt the 19th century anymore!

 

In my opinion the only posts that should be deleted are when someone joins only with the intent of being a troublemaker like HowdyTT or Porker.

 

Sometimes I think that the reason we get so many visitors from other forums is because there own forums are the most boring f***ing places on earth, do not let that happen here.

 

I think the 'moderator campaigners' need to follow a bit of their own advice and CHILL OUT!

Technical forum was provided for the moaning masses who were sick of the sense of humour brigade so you know what's coming next? Just as the freedom of speech thing gets banded about then take this on board aswell...You aren't forced to read something so don't if you don't want to!

Sorry guys, gotta stick my oar in and agree (mostly) with Craig and Senna.

 

This forum is not a home for free speech. Somone has to pay for it - so far we've been lucky as forum friends have "acquired" the hosting and bandwidth which every other forum has to pay for. Now we are moving toward paying for it - which is fine.

 

But we now need to realise one simple fact. Forums cost money to run. Spreading costs amongst many members makes it cheaper for individuals. Having a wide membership means not puking in the face of prospective new members.

 

It's not nice, it's not big and it's not clever. It also means the few remaining foul-mouthed obscene picture posting flamers with grudges against others will have to spend a lot more to keep their postings going.

 

Please just re-read Craig's post above and remember we get this playpit currently out of the goodness of his heart. Remember too that Senna has coughed up with good new hardware for us so I would think twice about not taking his reasonable points reasonably.

General forum is basically chat, but that is not the problem here.

The problem is when the general forum becomes abuse, threats, tantrums, insults and endless amounts of censored words.

See above. Basically, its what the general forum keeps degrading down to is the problem.

 

It's certainly the thing i get mad about most often.

I like the jokes and banter as much as you do, and i have no problem with how many posts and how many replies you do to every single thread

Craig I am on this site to learn about the 300, have general chat with other members and also have a little light hearted humour with friends,I will help anyoneand have even bought things for other forum members using my own cash to do so eh Duffer.

I also do not get involved with personal attacks with the old Duffer V Jeff crap.
