thats alot of money !

thats a lot of prostitutes aswell..1 a night for the next eerrrrr well till xmas anyway:D

petrol takes the pi55 in a zed, especially if you thrash it, that what will do your head in more than anything, especially if its your only car, and 5k WTF, im 25 and mine is only bout £180 a year but thats only 3rd party, get that traders policy sorted mate, just think of the mods you could do with the money if you got it down by even half!!

.......................... just think of the mods you could do with the money if you got it down by even half!!

Or not - as once you go modding it for more performance, that £5k insurance will seem cheep compared to what they will charge with the mods declared!!!;)

Fair play though, Vern! if you are willing to pay up to drive a Z at 17 then you are surely dedicated!

Welcome to the club mate.

Richard:cool:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

ROFL

Think clarkey was the youngest in the uk, he got his at 16 i think.

5k on insurance you must be mad, having said that i had to pay 2k to insure a 1.2 nova about 10 years ago due to a couple of dangerous driving bans.

Being 17 you need to be very careful with these cars, they can suprise much more experienced drivers, If I had of had a zed at 17 i doubt id of seen my 18th Birthday, please be careful.

LOL very very expensive. Just under £5k for a full year :) lol. Looking into being put on a trader's policy atm. I have well and truly caught the z bug so I am prepared to/stupid enough to pay £5k but if I did this i'd probably end up having a year on the road then 6 months of the road to save the funds again lol. Like I say the car needs some work done on it before it can actually be driven anyway so I'm using my Ninja at the moment - looking in to some of the best mods to do while it's off the road. No power gain mods - more like poly bushes all round, aftermarket guages (oil pressure, temp, boost guage), leather retrim, indiglo dials, handbrake and gearlever gaiters, gearknob, some new rear speakers, exhaust mid section, new engine bay wiring loom, s2 PTU - just to list some of the things I've thought about lol.

I thought I'd seen a list on the forum somewhere of recommended mods but can't seem to find it. Is there one on here?

Cheers,

Vern

 5K & 17. Just don,t kill yourself. I would not like to drive a 300 in the wet or ice at 17. go slow bud.....;)

Lol. I do this and that. I have a complete P.A. system and some disco lights so I do disco's now and again and I work in local theatres doing technical (sound, lights and set). I'm looking starting up my own business in photography/video and for the time being I cover various jobs at the local Tesco whilst also attending college full time. Pretty busy lifestyle but having a rest during the college holidays. Lol.

Somebody I know in a worse boat than me though - £7k for a 17 yr old on TPFT for a fiesta although admittedly he has had two crashes alread! lol! Another friend of mine pays £4k to insure his Astra van (he says it's actually less than a normal astra estate because it only has two seats ) and that's on a provisional license!!!

Cheers,

Vern

How much do you sell drugs for these days?......only jokin bud.

when i got my first car at 17 I ony paid £167 about 5 weeks wages so not to bad. Kids get ripppppped off big time now.

what about taking the zed down to the test station and doing the pass plus thing! like to see the look on the instructors face:eek: helps insurance:rofl::rofl:

dan.:)

Not the youngest in the world. Quite a few guys in the states and Auz that are driving them at 16.

Good luck with it and take care!!!!! The car still scares me at times and I've been driving for years!

Fookin ditto that bud. I would not like my 17 year old in my Zed. When i said ...Want to take the Zed out when he passed his test he said no thanks I need to drive my Clio for a bit before i take on a zed.

hi mate and welcome.

can i give you some fartherly advice adn ring your insurance company first before youo start upping the mods on teh car. fook me its fast enough as it is.

But if you realy want a list to get you going here we go.

BRAKES FIRST, cheap and the best bod youl buy.

Hicas remover, one of cheapest youl buy.

Boost jets, the cheapest youl buy, 2p each

chip from John Dixon about £50

Ajustable suspention

now all that will keep teh car ON THE ROAD

bigger tuns etc are not what you need at your age mate, no offence but if you think youo can drive a GT car at 17 then your names Lewis Hamilton or John Doe

I realy hope youo take on board what I just typed as we dont want to be sending a reath to the shortest member of the club

hark at us telling him to be careful etc, for all we know he could be a young licenced and competing racing driver

Folk are gobsmacked at 5k insurance, when i was 17, I spent far more than that on drink, fags and going to dirty nightclubs, designer clothes and other such things. If it makes you happy and you have the cash, fair play to you, you must really love the z32!!

i used to go to zone and 5th avenue too!

I was always on the seats in the corner of the Zone side (the dark bit) usually completely off my head

anyway back on topic!

im a dance floor kind of guy, anyway yes back on topic,

mate, thay arnt as hard to drive as eveybody makes out, just watch the back end in the wet, just dont accelerate off roundabouts and in corners, if your going to race only do it in straight lines and watch the brakes, they are shit and take ages to slow you down, they key is dont push the car too hard until you get used to it.

but for 5k make sure you enjoy it

I remember my bro paying £1400 to insure his Renault 5 Turbo after completely destroying his 280ZX and I thought he was crazy. I guess with inflation, that would probably be around £5K nowadays. After seeing what he did to his Z, which only had half the power, I'd recommend going on a skid pan or a big empty car park to get used to that Z's handling first!

welcome to zed ownership, i have gone throug the ranks of motors, ive had but to name a few a mk3 fiesta rs1800 (genuine one), and a mk2 golf vr6 (yup mk2), i drive them like i was kng of the road, but when i got the zed it was a different kettle of fish lol

take your time at first and always remeber what i was told "this car is a weapon, it can kill you and others if not treat properly", give it a few drives, it will sink in lol

Lol at the number of replies!!!

First of all:

Hi Mate , fair play , just please please dont stick colour changing LED's on the washer jets :)))

Lol would not fookin dream of it! Have no intention of ruining the car!!! Yeah I've read good reviews about Nippon Auto before. Will perhaps send him an email to ask about prices.

Do you have a baseball cap worn sideways and a chest full of bling ?

If so my Nightmware is coming true.

I most certainly do not! I have bought the zed because I love the cars and want to be in the community of zed owners. Hoping to end up with a car I can take to shows and win competitions with etc.

£5k is a LOT of money! where abouts in 'Castle are you mate? I'm actually up for the weekend though I do have some plans...

I live in Clayton. What brings you up here all the way from London lol? Feel sorry for you if you've come up in the zed - all that way with the zeds drinking habit lol.

Lol not really interested in increasing power until I've driven her a bit - I think I'll wait till the turbo's give up and I'm forced to do some mods till I start upping the power. Intend to focus on improving the handling of the car so will be looking perhaps into adjustable suspension and a big brake kit. HICAS remover though - why? Surely this should improve the handling of the car?

And to put all your minds at rest - I will not be driving it like a prick :) I am proud of the car and have no intention of driving it beyond it's/my limits and smashing it up.

Cheers for all the replies and the welcomes to the forum,

Vern
