hello again,

does anybody know anything about these and how to make them work better, the original ones i had wrer very weak and struggling to hold the lid open so i replaced them with some from a scrap yard, these turned out to be worse and now it will not stay open at all, can they be fixed/made stronger as i have bought 2 sets of these now and they are both rubbish, the boot lid is standard with standard spoiler.

cheers :(

Nope, can't be fixed.

Buy new and/or check if your spoiler has soaked up water and making the boot lid too heavy.

Gas filled struts.

better to spend the money on changing spoiler to fglass to reduce the weight by about half.

Try holding the boot open and banging the struts in the middle with a closed fist from the car outwards (from the boot to the side... direction). Its worked for me with my set of struts. Dont do it to hard you might break them!! but worth a go if you have two sets. I had to give mine quite a wallop but i started softly to gauge how much to hit them.

where would i get new ones from that would be compatable, any ideas???

Nissan :D

...or MJP in the traders section.

there is a wieght in the boot lid which you can take out this will help the counter balance if your spolier has soaked up alot of water :)

was just gonna say that

I took my boot spoiler off one of my SWB's on Saturday and the boot nearly fly's out of my hands. The thing must have weighed 35KG. Really please that the boot had no rust in it. So I dinged the holes down and filled them with fiberglass and today i've given them a fine skim of smooth stuff ready for a final rub down.
