perhaps a silly thread but can anyone tell me if the short wheel base modesl of the 300zx are more sought after or not and if so do you ultimatly pay for it in the price they go for.

just wondered how they compared as I don't belive i've ever seen one.

cheers

swb yes are a little more desirable but the convertable and the slicktops (hard roofs) are the most i would imagine. i personally couldn't do without the t-tops.

there will be views reflecting both sides of this opinion

btw mine is a swb

I'd love an SWB (I do think they look a little nicer than the LWB), or a convertible (with a TT swap, of course)..

I prefer the shape of the 2+2. Looks more in proportion, although I love the SWB.

I couldn't agree more - I do love the SWB, but always thought the petrol cap looks wrong somehow...

Never been a 100% sure what the great thing about slick-tops is either - to me, one of the very best features of the car is the ability to cruise with the tops off, with none of the compromises of a convertible. Maybe it's the purist's choice, but for practicality and looks you can't beat a LWB in my book. All IMO of course.

When I owned my 350, the things I missed most in order were: 1) turbo power! 2) back seats 3) t-tops...

Agreed, I couldn't live without the t-tops. Absolutely one of the nicest features on the car. It's the reason I didn't go for an R32.

I'v had both, and it differs from cars to car for me.... some bodykits, wheels etc suit the SWB, some other the LWB (bit of a crap answer i know)

But money wise the SWB sell for more, when i get my next (my 3rd!) i wont mind if its LWB or SWB

If I had a choce of cars when I bought mine it would of been a slicktop, the TT's are just too much agro, make the chasis flex to much and the slicktop is more areodynamic.

I have had a LWB TT Auto, and now a SWB TT Man. The SWB somehow "feels" so much more special. And no rears seats is great. Prefer the shorty look too.

Targa Tops are a must though.

I agree, especially if your TTs are leaking in the wet!

fook taking the rook off, just crank the air con up! lol

Hi,

To me the 2+2 shape is more balanced and I do need the rear seat for my daughter to travel in occasionally.

The targa tops are also a must for me as they are an inherent part of the appeal...Your average car just doesn't have this feature and taking the targas out transforms the car on a summers day!(not often I admit!)

If you're looking for a track day car or curcuit racer then I suppose the swb hardtop model may be more appealing, although Nissan preferred the lwb car for it's race cars as they were better balanced!

I was once on my way to see a Z32 for sale, when I rang for further directions, the seller said he'd forgot to mention that it was a swb non targa car....I turned round and went home again!;)

Cheerz,

Jez

Yeah! lets just get this straight:Red Zeds were the nissan designer teams idea of the perfect colour for the Zed..they considered the colour to show off the lines of the car to the optimum plus give the car the true sporting look they were after..look in any photo shoot;it simply can't be denied!! I know you lot out there have got to drive a car of some description and we all know its got to be a Zed and if you find a good one ,it honestly won,t matter after a while if you couldn't find a RED one;you will get used to it eventually whether its blue ,silver, black(some actually have grey Zeds??!!) or whatever...and after a lllong time you will even convince yourself that the colour of your Zed is actually not as bad as you first thought...some go that stage further and try and convince others around them that they have the best colour!!! Incredible and hard to believe but stangely true ..go to any meet and you will hear people hallucinating wildly on this subject..ie; some think black is a colour!!HaHaHa

i have to agree that the 2+2 look better but if you can find a shorty slick top then you've got a rare care on your hands i've only ever seen 1 and it belonged to wayne hutchinson who used to be on here but he sold it to someone in essex i beleive

Not much fussed about SWB or 2+2 BUT! I would love to have a wide arse on my 300ZX. Slick top. YES! I dont like or use the targa's very much.

So anything for me as long as its got a lovely arse on it. :D

sorry to do this guys but you asked for it

RED ONES

Yep Red is the colour :hyper: :hyper: :D

And there's you problem, anyone with a red zed spends all weekend polishing it (just to keep it red) :headvswal , the rest of us spend our time doing what you supposed to do................. DRIVE 'EM. :hyper:

As far as the debate on which is best, I would presume, the zed you drive, is the zed you prefere, other wise, why did you buy it.

Lol

One flaw in your post there mate and that is I drive mine every day and it is still red and anyone that has seen it will tell you there is not a hint of fade on my paint   lol
