I've just been reading some 300zx turbo reviews, lots of talk about 'great for sunday, but too unreliable for everyday'

Seems people will think me mad, if i use mine as my daily driver.

So....Who here uses their zed frequently, or all the time?

I am thinking about a na as a daily driver as the tubby is a bit thirsty and a bit too tempting to go fast in as well

Dont expect a big saving in fuel (in fact if you do a lot of motorway mileage then it can cost more in fuel ! ) and the NA is just as tempting to go fast in...they love high revs.

Mine in theory is a daily drive but as I have works van to commute in it may not get used all week. As long as you have them serviced regular the Z seems to be as reliable as any other 17 year old car.

As others have said it is great to have the roof off and go for a blast after a hard weeks work.

Don't understand how it can be cheaper to run 2 cars however what with TAX and insurance as well.

tbh, in a good way, i have to disagree with you there darrell... i think as far as 17yr old cars go, the Z is up there with some of the most reliable...

Why thank you good sir.

Best you hurry up and do yours before I do patent it, or would it be a copyright thing?

i use my 91 tt manual but i am gona take it of the road in the winter as the heater fans dont work and it sometimes leaks from the drivers targa but i will be gutted not to drive it everyday as it puts a smile on my face everyday

Me too.

It is a Nissan afterall and benefits from the usual Japanese over engineering. I would trust my ZX more than my SLK which is less than half its age!

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Amazing.

Think thats gotta be a sharp stick in the eye for the 'it will let you down' brigade.

Currently 42 say use it daily, only 5 against.

Must admit, i would of ignored the advise if it had gone the other way-i'm that struck on it.

When mine eventually gats back from the bodyshop, its going to take a crowbar to get me out of it

I use my 89 Jspec NA everyday, ive done 23,000 ks in one year and did the 100,000 k serivce a month after purchasing her from an importer. I treat my car very well and i dont thrush it like some drivers do. I love the zx for their style and look not for power or racing ability. I do open her up on occasions every now and then but i dont like to put undo stress on the enigne as i wont my zx to last me the rest of my life:). I think he you follow the regular maintance procedures the car will last you longer then u think.

Mines a daily driver and yes a few things have gone wrong with it but nothing close to the problems i had with my fiesta RS or escort RS !

Use mine daily to and from work and for every other occassion where i need to use the car even for a 2minute drive to Tesco coz im lazy lol. I dont see or have any problems, I think it does a car more harm than good by not driving it. Having said that i hope to be moving soon so the drive to and from work distance will quadruple so the car wont be used so much only for economy reasons, as Glenn said. So the car will go on classic car insurance if it can but will still get used as often as i can as i love to drive it

My NA's my daily drive.

I can drive the wife's company car (all free except fuel) but after driving the Zed regular cars feel like kissing your sister.

use to drive it every day did 8000 miles not missed a single beat. i only work 4 miles from where i live. i now been driving my gto nearly 8 months everyday been just as god esp. with 4 wheel drive.

I've been driving z's since 2001,n/a and tt and find them them as reliable as any family car, even more so in some cases. Since becoming self employed I use the van a lot more now so it's usually only weekends and basically whenever I get the time.

In 7 years only once was i left stranded, and that was because the MAF had become unplugged. Well cared for, these cars are extremely reliable and I reckon we'll still be seeing them around for years to come.

I'm also in the everyday crew.......

What person in their right mind looks on the drive and chooses the run-a-round when the WORKING zed is sitting there.................

willpower = zero ;)

Don't see the point in having it as an every day car. Waste of money spending cash on fuel to be stuck in traffic on the route to work, plus I want to try and keep the condition up to scratch, so no driving in the wet and deffi no driving in the winter!

Also in the everyday crew.

I didn't pay all that money for the car and insurance to leave it sitting in the drive

Agree with you, on that one

Also I like my Zed I don't have another car so ....just keep fixing it, it's really mechanically solid now (I love saying that!!!!)

Still keep on improving it, so will just carry ondoing just that

I'm driving to Swansea on Sunday with my daughter to take her to her new house as she is starting Uni, :)

Gonna be a lovely drive down there, though it will take 3 bloody hours no matter how fast I drive...

Done a lot of mileage lately, I like driving, so long distances don't bother me

I love driving locally in it, just love being in my Zed, it makes me really happy

mine takes me far and wide and has sereved me mightly fine. I whinge and whine about the car but i would about any car!!

yes.....................ish

only in UK for 90 days a year  but when I`m here I use it everyday

Believe it or not its true i have a second car to go to work in, and iv calculated that it saves me £1900 a year in commuting fuel. But i had the buy a car this year, and once iv insured it and taxed it for 12 months i still save £400 in this first year. (only bought a £500 laguna, but it does me to commute in)

I used my previous Black TT and Silver NA everyday...and if you can afford the fuel costs they are great daily drivers !

Both were very reliable for me too and (exluding fuel costs) actually cost me less in 3 years to maintain and repair than any of my much newer cars!

I'd rate there reliablity far higher than most other cars there age.....in fact most cars there age have long gone to scrapyard heaven !

My Slicktop will be a little too extreme for a daily driver though

reliable until you cooked the engine :wack: :p

I use mine as much a possible, cos they dont like being left too long!

I find Geabox and Engine seem most happy when in regular use!

It all starts to go to Poo if you leave them!
