afternoon all

i was wondering if any one knows who currently owns the fastest Zed in Britain...?

im interested in quarter mile times, not top speeds.

do you think its some one from this forum or from another Zed related club?

I know Mac1(  ) has an impressive machine, but i know there are other projects going on behind closed doors that are less well publicised... :)

12.721 @ 120mph done at santa pod, street tyres, 2+2 manual :)

i'll see your v8 and raise you one air con compressor and 4 x 100mm wheel spacers

Lol! :D ;)

Luckily the VH is 100lb lighter than the VG, and we've junked the air con and ABS but unlike John's, mine, like yours, is waddling around with a big f*ck-off body-kit! Mind you, although the alloys are also on the heavy side, if the planned re-rim at Image is do-able, traction shouldn't be a problem as the rears will be 14" and the fronts 12"! Might have to limit the times I go down though...the thought of how much the tyres cost and the amount of rubber lost to the strip might give me a funny turn! :( :wack: ;)

I believe J.D might be tempted to do the quarter in his stripped out, V8 shorty once finished which should be interesting.

Will do some as the Zclub days are a good laugh. Will be crap though TBH as I want it for the twisties and not prepared to sacrifice enough to make it a good drag car. Doesn't really interest me seriously enough

I managed a 10.6second standing quarter at Santa Pod once but it was a few years ago.

On what bike?? ;)

Lol, yes it was a bike. A Kawasaki ZX-12R.

;) heh it would take a very serious car to keep up with a 12R you can go and buy tomorrow for £8K?? :wack:

run times are also variable depending on the weather, even a stock zed will do a better time if its slightly cooler than on a hot day when the air isnt so dense. Wind direction as well it all plays a part in the times run.

It did 300kph (about 185mph) on the speedo in Germany too. Quick bike!

Some tracks are easier to get fast times on too.

You could easily be 3 or even 4 tenths of a second on a grippy concrete strip like Crail compared to Santa Pod where the start is all rubbery.

  • 1 year later...

these time been beaten?

don't think much happened in 2007 or so far this year for that matter, in the UK at least.

Chance for you all to change that in two weeks time at Round 3 of the Z Club Drag Challenge at Santa Pod on Saturday 16th August

You all talk the talk why not come down and walk the walk

The fasted Z that will be there is Ben Stapleys Janspeed 240Z that has run 12.793 but he letting his wife run it to help boost her confidence after a major crash at Gurston Down hill climb last year

Now your chance to give me some stick as I don't think any one here will Have the bottle to go with the exception of SlickPete and a couple of others from here

Plenty of talking but not to much walking

For those that are not aware Gavin Balmer passed away early last year whilst abroad on holiday RIP

Think there's been far too much talk if you want the truth Steve, i've been down the strip at Santapod a few times and at Rotorstock so definately have the bottle;), been wanting to take the blue ZX up the strip for sometime now, so here's my chance to put it to the test!!

Has MAC ever actually taken his Z on the strip? Never seen any figures for it. Would like to though. :)

Don't think so, always seems to have a problem with fuelling...

I've always wanted to take my Zed down the strip.

But Honestly though?? everytime i went to pod and could of ran i bottled it, mates expecting too much and if i got a bad launch or anything i would never hear the end of it.

When it is built this time round i will take it to a rwb day at pod, so i can get a few runs in, get used to launching down pod but without all that pressure from a big show day.

If I can get it mapped in time I'll be there and hopefully have a few runs.

If I can't get it mapped in time, I'll be there without any runs.

Ah man sorry to hear this. I didn't know him but it's always a shame to hear someone in the community has passed away. RIP.

sorry to here this bad news, R.I.P

This is the whole reason I created the leaderboards in the dyno sections.... To stop this whole debate of who's is the fastest, who's has the most BHP etc.

Some people, don't find the need to prove themselves to everyone else and are happy knowing that they know what thier car can do. therefore you probably won't find them in the dyno secion leaderboards.

Each entry for the leaderboard for 1/4 mile, track and RWBHP is updated as the proof is submitted. If people don't want to submit then they won't be on the leaderboards.

So, if you want to be considered the fastest/most bhp in the club, post up your stats/proff and get added to the leaderboard.

If anyone asks who's is the fastest from now on we can get rid of the whole debate and point then at the dyno section where they can see for themselves and view the proof of the pudding.

Currently the fastest 300zx's on this site are: (Although I will be updating these soon as some are RIP or sold to non members - they will still be in the leaderboard but marked as deceased).

Andyduff 12.72 @ 120

ed davies12.76 @ 113

Black slag 12.79 @ 110

Rob B 12.88 @ 115

Chunk 13.04 @ 108

Highest RWBHP Z's are: (again these will be updated as deceased for members that have left or sold up)

Cj - 533 @ 6531 - Thor Racing - http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=85644

Machine - 491 @ 7500 - Thor Racing http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=93219

Kirbz - 479 @ 6200 - Town End Garage http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=113777

Boomin33 - 460 @ 6643 - Owen Developments http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=79144

Smithy - 414 @ 6300 - WRC technologies http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=52036

Now I know there are 1/4 miles times by members on here that have been quicker than the above and i also know of a few cars running high RWBHP that are not mentioned above, but no stats have been produced for them in the dyno section so I can't update the leaderboards to include them.
