Still alive, kicking and occasionally screaming....

….But (thus far) no sign of infection.

Whilst I am not one to give into the mass panic, please, do stay safe everyone. And government advice or not, life still goes on - so be sure to check on any vulnerable neighbours you may have. The young(ish) and healthy should have nothing to fear; if reports are to be believed, it's like having a dose of the flu. Ill for a week or two, but fine in the long run; however the elderly and those with existing health issues could suffer more - so keep an eye out for those people.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Work from home here, no real change other than overseas and UK travel has been suspended by my company.

I feel so sorry for the folks caught up with their businesses who are being affected by the measures.; it's truly heartbreaking. I stayed at a hotel near Leamington Spa earlier in the week and it was deserted, all the staff there still trying to work not knowing their future; it almost brought me to tears.

I do wonder, especially if you look at Italy and France at the moment whether these stringent new measures are going to destroy more lives than those which they're trying to save.

Me too... Governments think they are trying to help - and until now, I thought ours was following a more sensible path by avoiding a lockdown - but sadly it seems they too have decided to follow the Twitterati and act in haste. The vast majority of us probably won't catch it - and if we do, it should be no worse than a dose of the flu. A week or two sick and we'll get over it. It will strengthen our immune systems, should the virus return again in the future - so we look out for the elderly and vulnerable and let it pass.

Just my humble opinion - but still life should go on.

I think the gossip clouds the water, I’ve been having this conversation with my wife this morning. There’s so much “I heard” “I read in”, things are moving quickly in terms of procedure, there’s daily briefings coming direct from number 10 and these are straight from the horses mouth. Obviously there aren’t answers to every question, it’s simply impossible.

I believe the advice of keep your head on and stay sensible, following the science is still the way GB is approaching this. Of corse the rights and wrongs, of these unprecedented events are for the history books to decide.

There’s been a lot of misunderstanding of this “Herd Immunity” business, the press heard the term and ran with it. There’s a very simple video with a doctor explaining with buckets the approach being taken. It’s all about using the brakes at the right time and not too hard. Trying to balance the economic, social and health impacts. If we slam on the brakes and close the country, there will be an economic crash that will cause hardship for a generation or more, and I mean people living in tents hardship. If we let it run rife, short and fast the health service will be over run and the cost of life will be unacceptable.

One thing is for sure, things are going to be hard and I do not want Boris’ job.

Its all getting very scary.

Be safe.

I certainly wish for us all to remain safe - but is shutting down the country really the right way to do it...?

The leisure industry is vital to the UK's economy; our manufacturing base died many years ago - farming and fishing? Well, yes, we produce some of the world's finest (ahem) produce from our fields and seas. But it doesn't keep the coffers filled. Tourism, on the other hand brings in the bacon - at least it did until this evening.

Time will tell - and I hope it is the right call. Sure we are a resilient island, we will recover, but boy; is it depressing to think this could go on for months.

Stay safe everyone....

It’s definitely time to hit the pause button before the NHS gets overwhelmed. Covering folks wages up to 80% is a big relief for most and the industries that have shut down stand a very good chance of sitting it out and bouncing back with relatively limited financial impact.

I’m 100% behind the decisions and timings made by this government and wish that more people would accept them and take them seriously. I drove past my local pub last night and it was heaving as folk decided to have one last session. I’m not sure whether this is plain ignorance or just stupidity but either way it’s pretty shocking.

I also think our Goverment and Boris are doing the right thing and we should now stay indoors as much as possible. Our doctors and nurses need our help by keeping indoors and not catch or spread any virus which will end up filling up hospitals.  Keep safe.

You tube have very good article about SOCIAL DISTANCING SIMULATION  ,try and find this !   It  will make you understand why washing hands regularly and keeping 2 metres away from people really does work.

Keep safe folks

I work at Gatwick and am off til further notice i took the cover off 300 today and started to clear mold that had built up over last year and a half, and mold inside...Yuck..white vinegar to hand.. however i will share a story with you that has made me think a bit about things quite a lot...November 2019 myself and she who must be obeyed boarded a late night flight Heathrow to Guangzhou. We spent a week in the Guangzhou/Shenzhen area before flying Guangzhou to Saigon on Dec 3rd.When we arrived at Saigon we were met on the tarmac by China Southern reps(i have traveled a bit and never had this before). They told us our flights from Saigon to Wuhan then onwards to London were cancelled and we would have to make alternative arrangements..This worried us a bit and then i thought fuck it have a few beers sort it in morning.Next day we went to China Southern in Saigon and they sorted us flights from Guangzhou back to London. We then had our holiday and flew Saigon/Hanoi,whilst in Hanoi i got a flu/cold felt a bit rough,Other half who is a senior nurse had worst headaches she can imagine(even worse than Friday nights!!).This was around 2 weeks after first arriving in China.

Now this could be coincidence but no one will convince me now,I believe the Chinese knew about this before November 2019 and never let the world know.I hope we have already had it and wont get it again but urge all of you to take it seriously and hope no one gets it.On a political standing i really think we need to re evaluate our trade deals with China when this is over.Sorry for going on but this has been in my head for 3 months now. Keep safe.

I lived in china for almost ten years. Having experienced the way the government deals (or not) with things, it really wouldn't surprise me. My wife is Chinese and she told me that the far side of "the great firewall" is awash with rumours, fake news and conspiracy theories. One being that it was started by the US military wiping the virus on streetlights. Another being that it didn't start in china, it's not China's fault, it's the evil west's fault (this was given more credence when trump started calling it "the Chinese virus" and the Chinese embassy making a statement) ?

When we were in Shenzhen,we were in a hotel on the outskirts near the airport, the Bao'an district and looking for a pharmacy as i was bitten to hell by the mozzies.Anyway we stumbled across a locals market.Me seeing a dark alley with light at the end thinking yep lets go down here...It opened into a square which was fruit/Veg/Fish etc sold from garages?.there was no strange stuff at all live fishes in tanks is quite normal. And although i have only been there 3 times i have not seen any really strange stuff(that's not to say it does not exist).I think there is more to this than the bat eating stories we are told.As an aside i have had some of the best food ever in China and met some amazingly friendly people including a young lad on the Guangzhou tube practicing his pretty much perfect English on us.The CCP however......

This is a relief, all this time I thought it was down to me, when I was in Shanghai in November 2019, it was only brief I must confess and it was only the once but I didn’t wear a compulsory bathing rubber cap when I was swimming in the hotel pool ?.
