This is a real shame... I'm not an Audi fan, but I do like the latest TT (in RS guise); but this is a sad indictment of where cars are going. Apparently no-one wants sports cars anymore - just MPVs and cross-overs.... Really? Mercedes is killing off the SLC at the end of the year - for pretty much the same reason....

I know sports cars always sell in far smaller quantities - and manufacturers make their money on bread-and-butter variants, but we need companies like Audi keeping options open, for those who want an affordable, hedonistic, fast and fun sportscar. In the dull world of practical motors for ferrying the children and dogs etc., there are still dinosaurs out there who have neither (like me...) who don't want to follow the crowd.

Hopefully MB will bring out the new planned mid-engined, small AMG coupe/roadster next year - the guy in my local dealership said it's likely to happen - which will hopefully keep options open, in the quality sports-car market....:clover:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Same reason they are looking to drop Lamborghini. Over a thousand climate change protesters have been arrested this week in London alone. The extremist pressure is high on governments and the car is public enemy number 1 after aircraft.

Totally bored shitless of crossover after crossover after crossover being launched. It's like the auto industry has gone into 'boredom mode'. Every other day, yet another crossover is released, they're about as exciting as pair of brown pyjamas.

I appreciate drivetrains and engines need to and have to change to meet tightening of regulation, but does that mean that has to apply to the actual body of the car?

At least MPVs have kinda been phased out.....the vehicle you bought when you knew your life was over.

Worth watching Andrew Neil exposing the inaccurate and alarmist claims of Extinction Rebellion.

Extinction rebellion are the vegan movement of the climate world.

Good video! She doesn't really know her subject matter and stumbles. Whilst I'm all for change to reduce pollution (he says after buying a V8 powered car) and waste, Extinction Rebellion just spout manure.

Nice find....! These doom-mongers are causing panic with their alarmist claims - my neighbour was telling me how his grandchildren are petrified (his words) by the imminent death of mankind; as taught in their schools.

By all means, they are entitled to their peaceful protest; but they are not entitled to cause mass disruption to people trying to get on with their everyday lives.

PMSL - but very true....

Ironically their mass protests cause increased pollution. Bringing parts of the public transport system to a halt is nothing short of moronic.

Yup - but these idiots don't understand that....! I'd turn the water cannons on them, myself. And throw in a few bars of soap (vegan un-friendly, of course) for good measure; most of them need a bloody good wash....

Joking aside though, it's none of their business if I want to continue eating meat - it's called freedom of choice and is part of the very same freedom that permits them to hold their protest. I've said it before, these zealots won't be happy until we've all reverted to living in caves again - and even then, they'd complain that some of us have bigger caves....

Electric cars may have zero emissions on the road but still hareful to the planet in getting the raw parts for them. Hard to find the right answers but a lot of false information out there.

Yup - and still, most of the power required to generate the electricity comes from burning fossil fuels. Wind power is just a supplementary source in the UK, as it just cannot produce sufficient energy to supply our population - so nuclear is the only answer. And you can bet your arse, these "green" zealots aren't too keen on nuclear power either!

I think aviation is great! [emoji56]

Electric vehicles are really not the way forward and I can’t understand why we haven’t yet seen further development of hydrogen powered cars?

Cynically? Probably because they haven’t seen enough profit from this project and will pull that magic one out as the next big fix. The trouble with electric cars isn’t the power supply, although that’s a factor, it’s the Carbon foot print and complications of production and disposal.

Regarding XR, I really wonder how many people know what they are supporting when they fly thier flag. I’m glad there’s something new for me to cast my skeptic eye upon and get called a right wing bigot for.
