Went to go out in the zed for the first time in weeks and on start up she was only running on 5 cylinders ,so started pulling the plugs to the coil packs one at a time, the first one on the left side didn't make a difference when unplugged ,so I swopped out the coil pack with the one next to it plugged it all back in and now works perfect, anyone had trouble like this before?

could it be that the coil pack is near the end of its life .

I also checked the plug for that green looking crap inside but its nice and clean.

The connections to the injectors are the ones that go green, and its very likely a problem with an injector connection more than a a coil pack, you will of moved the loom slightly and pulled a tad on the injector cable hence making a good connection again.

I'd concur with this too.... Jimmer cleaned my injector connectors and it made a hell of a difference; trouble was, they soon went green again whilst the Zed was sitting in MXD's workshop for a couple of months.

When Jimmer took the car back for me, he cleaned them again and gave the connections a coat of special grease - I had no problems after that..

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I did all mine a few years back ,do you know what the grease was he used on the connectors

In all probability dielectric grease.

Be careful when using this on your connectors guys, for anyone that has never used it before, you dont want it in contact with the actual pins and sockets. Only on the plastic outer portion of the connector.

Really I would have put it on the metal pins as that's the bits that go rusty

Dielectric grease is an electrical insulator and as such if it’s applied directly to the conductive pins in a connector which may have low contact pressure due to the their age/deterioration such as in the injector connectors the grease may have a negative effect.

You need to ensure the injector male pins are perfectly clean and that female pins in the harness have good contact pressure to create a low resistance contact.

Cleaning may well solve the problem but ideally you will want to replace your harness plugs with new ones and apply some silicone grease as you plug them in.
