So I followed the last few days of threads about traders and fees and now the contribution section.

Called me old fashioned ( please do I am proud to be a grown up ) but this is becoming sureal, I don't get it, this is the thin end of the wedge for the forum credibility surely? I thought the 300zx forum / club had more about it than to resort to allowing the members subscribing and then donating to keep traders on board.

Just my take on it of course but all appears a bit unseemly..

Jeff

Its only a trial and we may ditch it shortly.

People wanted to donate to a cause yesterday and I thought it would be a way to track it all.

To be honest anyone can donate directly to our paypal address at anytime.

On this occasion the member base made the call to donate not us, I just implemented a way to control it easier.

Hi Jeff, I myself didn't intend on this happening, I had a chat to Mondo regarding his thread and his Traders status, I felt as obviously a lot of other members did that his skills are an asset to this Club, I messaged Simon regarding all this and the result was that I paid his subs in lieu of extra work to be undertaken by Simon on my Group Buy, in other words, it's costing Simon a lot more in time, labour and materials than the £65 subs fee, and we have held onto a trader who may have disappeared like a lot of others.

I didn't donate (even though my payment shows up as an anonymous donation), I paid a years subscription for a Traders status and Traders Area.

I think it's self interest a lot of members not wanting there group buy go tit's up which is understandable

Don't think it's to do with the group buy going wrong. Si has always kept us up to date on things.

Explain please...

Well put it this way never ever heard of a forum pay a traders fees.

Seems like the tail wagging the dog here.

Have you read any of my recent posts?

I haven't asked for this and, truth be told, I didn't particularly want it. But it's happened, for reasons I don't entirely understand.

One thing I do take exception to is your insinuation that my Trader fee has had to be paid to prevent me doing a runner with members' pennies! To "prevent it going tits up" as you so eloquently put it.

Why would you think that...?

A good point indeed, which is why this is only a trial. We certainly have to be careful how this might work out.

And si is dead right. He did not once ask for this; and in no way did we think he would run away with anyone's money. Simon's integrity was never in doubt as far as I am concerned. However I always wanted him to return as a trader, not because of securing a subscription, but because it would benefit our members.

It certainly goes to show how our members will rally round in support, when they care so passionately about something!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

This is really strange whats going on and ive never known anything like it in all my time in this club...I would be able to understand the situation if Mondo had the bailifs knocking on his door and was skint but we all know this is not the case...It was his choice not to renew his trader subs and i totally repect his rights to not do this given his reasons stated by himself. I know Richie done his deed out of pure kindness and friendship but i have a feeling in this case its kinda gone tits up and maybe in hindsight Simons wishers of refusing the money should of been respected....He had taken the thread closing on the chin and in time would of moved on and maybe with more thought and time. might of made his own mind up to re-sub.......

I hope you don't mind my input!

Could we not have it more as a 'Tip's Jar' for a trader that has done a good job or gone above and beyond?

I for one would happily drop a few quid in for someone who has helped me out....

Then the trader could use it how he wants, for paying subs or just having a beer on a satisfied customer!

Only a thought.....

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

I can't believe I've just had to "Like" one of Znut's posts... and thank him too!

Looking at this from my own perspective here, the events of the last couple of days sort of make me look like a charity case. Certainly not helped by the new addition to the info beneath my avatar.

Here's some facts: when my Trader subs expired, I had some lengthy chats with both Groover and Richard Smith about cost versus cost-effectiveness for me. The tiered system was introduced but, even at it's minimum fee, it simply didn't make financial sense for me personally from a business perspective.

I asked the Committee how the Group Buy would work with me no longer being an active trader on this forum and they collectively agreed to let me post updates and pictures for that.

Since my subs expired, I've had one direct contact on here about work and I asked them to contact me by email instead, as I didn't want to be back door trading.

This whole situation has come about through my thread being locked, my reacting to that and then, for reasons that I can't quite fathom, suddenly my subs have been paid and I'm a Trader once again! A humbling gesture, but quite a confusing one as well.

I've spoken to Richie about this and, whether he likes it or not, his kind donation will be repaid to him.

The alternative, and this is actually my favourite, is for the club to refund those who donated and to then rescind my Trader status. That way, if I choose to sign up again in the future, it's entirely my choice. :)

I appreciate the undeniable vote of confidence this shows for me, and that is genuinely humbling but, as we can see, it's already causing issues....

I can see where this is going and it was a trial but maybe in the heat of the moment with all the best intentions we acted to fast.

Think you might be right Gaz..but hey we are all adults here and the clubs affairs and running is a fluid thing and we move on with no malice:wink:

..

Hi Mate,

If this is what you want then i'm sure the club can refund those involved.

I will suspend your trader status when you confirm this again and when you feel the time is right then you can upgrade again.

Not sure what was discussed regarding posting pictures up but as long as People don't ask for business then its just pictures.

The Mod Squad will edit any unforeseen posts prompting you for business.

Regards

Lee

FFS I'm not going to "jangling the keys" again Si if you go back to subbed member! Your a trader now and a trader you will stay.

You won't have to jangle anything, Gaz - as the GB progresses, I'll send the pictures to the owners so they can add them to their own threads.

All I'm doing then is fulfilling my obligations under the GB and not doing anything that could be construed as trading, be it back door or otherwise. :thumbup1:

This whole scenario is clearly causing issues. Refunding the donations and putting me back as a regular subbed member is far and away the simplest solution, yes?

As I stated already, it was not my intention to initiate a donation system. I was merely paying a Traders sub through the PayPal system for a mate. Myself and Simon have a great history and it was to keep Mondo’s work in the view of the club, if the thread hadn’t been closed I wouldn’t have given it any thought. I understand Gary’s and the commitee’s view but just thought it was worth the few quid to have Hide & Seat trading in our Club. In hindsight I was a bit overzealous to “Shanghai” Simon back into the Club but we’ve spoken and he’s not getting a donation, I’ve paid some of the monies I’m going to owe him for the Group Buy (in other words, it’s Simon’s money). It wouldn’t have been an issue (and I did mention that there was no need for donations) if it had been left as one Traders subscription, which is what I paid. The donation thing was set up after this and may have been a mistake imo. This whole thing has been blown out of proportion, ie. a mountain out of a molehill.

So if we take away the donation button and Mondo keeps his trader status thanks to a deal with Richie everybody will be happy.

That’s fine with me, it’s what I had intended all along:thumbup1: It’s really up to Simon though, I did kind of strong arm him into it. If he’s not keeping his trader status, could you give him the £65 either ways as it is going towards an interior retrim:thumbup1:

Nice one Richie now all we need is Si to agree to keep his trader status. Where did he go?
