I've been a bit naughty this week. As it's the last week before I break up from work for 10 days I decided to run the Z to work. It's not moved for weeks and I think it's done it some good getting some heat into it as it's sat outside anyway!

I've also got its MOT next Thursday so it's been good to make sure everything is running as it should.

It's been a very busy week at work with it being the end of year but every night I have gone home with a smile on my face being greeted by the Z on the car park:)

I'v been dailying mine since owning it, every night I tell myself I'll take the Focus to work tomorrow yet every morning I cant help but pick up my zed keys.

Looking good mate....

Has anyone else done the same?

....And sadly not... I probably would have, but it's currently at Dasstech, from where it will re-emerge next year with new sills and a fresh coat of paint.....:clover:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Looking forward to seeing pics once it's finished!

Do it, your Z will turn into the ferrous ore from whence it came. Having seen the undersides of many Zs used in wet/winter months and the state they've gotten into, I wouldn't put my car through that sort of punishment.

I've found it really difficult not driving the Z, but then I go out in the Merc and see the state of the roads, the salt, the filth, the dampness, all of which are no good for a car coming up to 30 years of age and I'm glad my Z is in a nice dry garage.

It's not worth it; if you have a rust free car and want it to stay rust free, don't use it in the winter months. Sure, an under-body sealing will help, however it won't save the paint with all the rocks and saline flying round.

Salty water and condensate will corrode the areas you can't see or reach.

Fortunately, Christmas Eve was mild, dry and the roads had had a heavy beating with rain to wash all the shite off of them, so I was able to take the Z out, as I was today. :)

It's important to use and find joy in these cars though. You could go out on the hottest driest day of the year and have someone write your car off at the lights, whatever your rust-state was on that day wouldn't matter.

That special feeling of doing an ordinary commute in a zed is a little nugget of life. I used to take mine from Bishop to Lossie and occasionally met snow or broke down in the cairngorms. Those 8 hour segments of life would be otherwise forgotten and filed under "autonomous commuting".

Do what you can to look after them, but never miss a chance to use them.

I agree. These cars aren’t some hyper rare relic for museum use only, they are an old sports car that’s worth less than a second hand euro box. Do what you can to protect but enjoy the damn things when you can. Getting pretty sick of mine being a driveway ornament.

I use mine whenever I can...it will never be a show car..and if it rusts I'll just keep rebuilding her,it's only metal it can be rebuilt lol I'm with the majority use them as you can,I just love driving my zeds :)
