Seeing as the last couple of days have been predominantly doom and gloom around here, I thought I'd have a stab at cheering everyone up.

Jimmer and I have been discussing a bit of a joint project recently. It's very much in the planning stages at the moment, but I think it could be pretty good if it comes off. There's been a lot of press coverage surrounding things like Sierra RS Cosworths and suchlike, and about how a totally pristine and original example is now fetching considerable money...

...soooo we're looking at building a completely standard 300ZX! Ideally a UK factory manual (seeing as people think they'll command the best prices in years to come) and make it completely bone stock. No 99 Spec rear lights - just nice orange lenses please... the standard airbox... standard suspension and brakes. Even a standard power output! Standard everything, basically.

There are some beautiful examples of "OEM+" cars in this club, but we want an OEM one as if it just rolled out of the factory. This doesn't mean, however, that absolutely everything that can be renewed will be renewed - that would end up ludicrously expensive! I think the idea is to only replace things that really need it. I don't know whether Jimmer would build a fresh engine for it or not... he'd have to decide that based on the car we got.

I'd certainly be renewing the interior as, no matter how well it may have been looked after, the leather would be 20 odd years old. And yes, it would be a leather interior - I absolutely refuse to make a tweed one for it!

So that's the plan, such as it is at this point. A 100% standard Z32, built by one of the most (if not the most) respected names in the community. And by me as well ;)

What do we think to that, gang?

Sounds like a great idea, only this morning was I wondering if there was such a thing as a completely stock UK Zed. About 4-5 years ago I remember a very well priced, stock, cherry red, UK TT auto was for sale. Richard Smith was interested in buying it then it was sold and I've not heard of it since

Must be my mistake, I thought it was a UK spec. Either way it was very tidy, think it was a lad called Ryan that owned it, lived in Evercreech near me

The red one I was interested in a few years ago was indeed a UK spec; but it was normal, flat red. Probably AG2, as I seem to remember it was a J-plate..... And it was Steve's (Clint Thrust) car; that was around 2009 (I bought my blue one just afterwards). Steve withdrew it from sale - well, he told me it was sold, but he actually decided to keep it...

Now that would be a sight to behold! BTW UK specs didn't go on sale until spring 1990.

Yup - 1st April 1990 here...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Pretty sure Ryan from Evercreah's car was a cherry pearl import, at least it was when it was parked outside my house with his dogs on the back...

You're probably right Steve - but I don't think his was ever one I was interested in buying...!

Probably not then, I just remember them being up around the same time that you were considering another

This club needs a bone stock minter!

It's in the planning stages at least! Although I reckon Gray has more disposable cash to build one than I (or possibly Jimmer) do....

There were three shades of red used, AJ4 Ultra Red being the...reddest. It was available here. I don't know about the other two.

Funny enough I was talking with paul (body shop) today about what to do with this red uk zed, I'm thinking two ways, completely stock...or do a nice wide arse, mmmmm witch way should I go?

I know which way I would go - stock or OEM+ (you can easily reverse the mods/changes back to original). In years to come

you will be the owner of a more appreaciated, sought after and valuable car.

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

There is UK 300zx by me which is dark grey and almost standard looking. It has been on his drive for years. Looks very clean...do you want me to give him a card? H reg.

Me too. Maybe it varies across the domestic markets? I have a series 2 UK brochure here but that has changed to AJ4 Flame Red (which is what my car was before I changed it to red!).

Must differ across markets as Joel says...this is a UK colour options from 1991....as hanging in my office

There is some nice UK Z's in the club and some have been garaged for years I now of one with 11000 miles on it. Hope he gets it out of the garage next year.

Wow!!! What colour is it?

If it's the same one I'm thinking of, it is black... And was once owned by the Sultan of Brunai - the chap I bought my blue one from owns it now - he bought it about 9 years ago...

It's a genuine car; I drove it when it was originally up for sale but (sadly) could not reach a deal with the seller. My loss was his gain:wink:

Thats the one Richard.

I remember when I got my first 300 back in my early 20s (2001ish) a UK white one came up for sale at Cars of Chichester with around 19k on the clock I think but it was way beyond what I could afford at the time but still sits in my mind as the car that got away. :crying::crying::crying:

And there's another ultra-low mileage UK spec car knocking around - in red....

I remember seeing it at Jeff's a few years ago. The (then) owner was thinking about adding a lairy body-kit and the like. Luckily Jeff convinced him otherwise; seeing as the car was pretty special. The leather was just spotless - like it had just left the factory - and it even had a bit of a "new car" smell. So it should, considering it had only had 19k on the clock...

I knew Jeff wasn't all bad!!!:winkiss:

There was a very nice grey one turned up at the cosford meet wonder if it was the same one

No mate, been in the same position for years...
