'Evening all....

.....As you know, we have managed to secure a last-minute, small, stand at this year's NEC Classic Car Show. Small being the operative word; we just have space for two cars! Following my thread asking for volunteers to exhibit, I now ask for you to please cast your votes for which cars should represent the club at this major, international, event in the classic car calendar!

As said, we need two cars - so please vote for two cars from the following list. The top two will go through; with the third on stand-by, pending a cancellation, or in the event we might actually be able to squeeze three cars on the stand!

Thank you all for your support; thank you to those who have very kindly stepped up to the mark - and good luck!! On behalf of the committee, I look forward to seeing you at the NEC in November. This poll will close in seven days time....

The nominations are here.....

Looks pretty much as it did when it left the Nissan showroom in 1991 ...minor external changes... 19" Wheels, Stainless Steel Exhaust & later spoiler....the interior is completely UK standard leather... with Radio Cassette and CD players

Some fantastic examples guys....

We definitely need a bigger stand for the 30th anniversary.

Indeed we do - well that's the plan, anyhoo.....

It has to be said si's and Joel's car are spot on and deserves to be there as seeking them in the flesh they are mint

I would have liked to see a modified example there myself, but two spots and some tough competion have made that impossible.

I'm a little surprised (other than me) ex-manta's car only got 1 vote?

Chris' car as a modified example would have been nice also.

I love that car too, very well executed and even better in person. However I still don’t believe it’s quite the right stage to display it and would be much better received at a show geared towards modified vehicles.

That said, I also don’t think Simon or my own Z are perfectly suitable for the same reasons. In my opinion the NEC display is crying out for an immaculate bone stock car (at least aesthetically), but unfortunately the stock wheels will not fit over my Brembos and my rear spoiler technically rules me out!

I will however do my very best to have the car looking as good as possible for the show and it’s now on lock down in the garage for a full 7 million step paint correction/detail program!

Thank you very much to everyone that voted and double thanks to those that voted for myself; I’m honoured to think the car is appreciated with all the work that has gone into it over the last 10 years. Simon and I will happily fly the flag for the marque and will hopefully continue to generate an interest in the club and the cars we love. [emoji41]

Totally mirror Joel's sentiment. Whilst ZX-TT's car is exceptionally well done, it's not generally the event for heavily modified cars. I also agree that that Joel's and mine are far from stock however they represent most of what the car's original essence is and that's what this event is aimed at showcasing.

Not wishing to down play any one with heavily visually modified cars despite my own personal opinion, I wouldn't expect to participate in any high profile modified car events such as Modified Nationals etc.

That being said, I'm still humbled and very grateful for those of you who voted and it will be an honour and a privilege to represent the club and the car and will do my utmost to present the car to the highest possible standards.

It's a really really good show and I highly recommend everyone visit it, there are some really really interesting machines on display.

Well, as I said nothing yesterday evening, on behalf of the committee and club; congratulations to Simon and Joel on being the members' choices to represent us at the NEC....

....Well done guys; I know you'll do us proud!!

To add my personal comments, I am also pleased that we had some great cars in the line-up. I certainly appreciate some of the comments too - indeed ZX-TT's car is without doubt, one of the nicest modified example's we have. And IanL did us proud last year; having his convertible on the stand.

This is another great opportunity for us as a small car club, to show off at one of the greatest classic car shows there is. Hell, if we had secured a stand for half a dozen cars, then it would have been great to have more variety on display. This year though, we only secured our stand at the last minute - four months after the official announcements were made.

So thanks to everyone for volunteering; and I shall look forward to joining our stand next month.

And I'm already thinking about next year; hopefully we can secure a larger stand - and then in 2019, we might go all out for the 30th anniversary of the Z32 and 20th anniversary of the club...
