NEC show 2017 update - an urgent request.......!

'Evening all...

I have been speaking with the organisers of the NEC show and I am pleased to announce they have managed to squeeze us in at the last minute!!

We have a small stand for just TWO cars - maybe three at a squeeze - so I am looking for volunteers. You must be able to bring (or drop off) your car on Thursday 9th November, at a given time to suit the organisers; and then leave it on the club stand until around 7pm on Sunday 12th November. It would be preferable if you could also be available to remain and help man the stand for the duration - although not essential. However, there is NO flexibility with regard to arrival/departure times; these are set out by the organisers...!!

Craig has some twin rooms booked for three nights at the Ibis hotel, Birmingham Airport for Thur-Sat nights; each room costs circa £194 for the entire three night duration. We are yet to determine how much the club will cover this year; however for now, I suggest budgeting to pay at least 50% of the cost yourself (depending on whether you're willing to share). We'll agree that later, once we have our exhibitors.

So, I am looking for volunteers to participate. As before, and whilst not wishing to sound elitist, this is a major event on the world stage for classic cars. As we only have room for two cars, even more so than in previous years, they really must be exceptional examples.....!!

If you wish to commit your car (and hopefully yourself) to the dates above, please register your interest in this thread. I will leave it open until Friday 22nd September; wherein the thread will be closed and I will post a poll for everyone to cast their votes for whom should represent us at the NEC from those who have registered interest. Participants must be a subscribed member please.

One final request, please just use this thread to register your own interest in participating; no discussions or nominations of others etc....!! We don't have much time to put our stand together this year; we have been given a "last minute" chance from the show's organisers - so apologies for the short notice and any apparent bluntness on my part in this post!

Thank you all in advance for your assistance....

Richard

After previous discussions about selecting or voting on which cars should attend, i am surprised that more subscribed members have not offered their cars for the show?

Come on guys and gals, volunteer your car if you think it should be shown, and then let the members vote.

While not pristine and with an aftermarket spoiler, mine will scrub up well and could do with the extra attention to detail that i would give it if selected, as long as i don't open the bonnet

So i will volunteer my own car as well, considering i will be attending and manning the stand over the weekend anyway.

I won't be upset if i don't get enough votes, because i know it is nowhere near the concourse standard of some other cars, but i would at least like to offer some competition, and so should we all!

I will volunteer mine, would have to drop it off though as I couldn't stay the whole weekend. I could do the Sunday. Plus I could help set up.

I'd love to do it again, but my silver zed isn't exactly show worthy, next year...

Great news, will have to come up for the a day,

I won't be available this year (especially not against Si and Joel!) as I've just got too much work to do.

Thoroughly enjoyed last year though - definitely well worth being a part of. :thumbup1:

OK folks, this is the last call - the thread closes tomorrow and I will post a poll for everyone to cast their votes over the next 7 days....

Please remember, you'll need to commit your car (and preferably yourself) from around 9am on Thursday 9th November right through until about 7pm on Sunday 12th; no exceptions!! If you cannot do this, then please do not volunteer...
