Hi dude.

I have a Momo Millenium Evo steering wheel but I don't have the horn. So I bought one. Anyway, I don't seem to be able to get it to work so I'm after a bit of help.

The car has HICAS and I'm pretty sure it's the correct HIcAS boss. There's 1 wire that's connected to the boss that I believe connects to the horn button, the button then grounds itself on the wheel. I'm assuming what's going wrong is the the boss is not touching whatever it needs to to send power to the button. Can anyone tell me what needs to connect or touch what to get it working please? Or tell me if I'm missing a component.

Here's some photos of the wheel:

You need the little cable that plugs in to that in top part in the middle.

Only one stand of the cable is used from the plug and it just needs to ground to the steering rack to sound the horn.

On the Momo you should have a push button that the cable connects to with a spade connector.

Luke sells these but they come with the full boss so will skin you 60 bux.

Plus about £30 postage.

Plus 20% Vat

I have absolutely no idea why he doesn't include the VAT in his pricing. How many folks using an aftermarket 300zx mail order website will not be paying VAT?

Not sure exactly how much of a difference it makes, but you've also mounted the HICAS boss incorrectly on the wheel. The smallest notch should be at the top of the wheel and the HICAS sensor should slide through this at top dead centre.

Thanks mate. That's just how it came and i thought it should be moved but wasn't sure. And hadn't thought that much about it but now you've confirmed, I'll get it changed. Great spot bud!

As for the wiring connector, no I don't have it as far as I know. Are they easy to pick up and do I need it?

Ah right, so my steering wheel has a wire with a spade connector that goes to the boss (where that little screw is on the back. So in short, that connector needs to go into the bit of loom that's missing?

Three prong cable inserts into the black connection block, one of the three cables usually green i think wires through the boss and connects directly to the horn button.

When the button is pushed the connection is grounded to the steering rack and the horn sounds.

Dont connect anything to that screw on the back or the horn will sound constantly.

Saying that is it a three or a 4 prong connector ?

Is that zed a series 4 and used to have an airbag; as you will have to get a resistor to fix that too.

No its a S1 car. Its on an M reg, but its a '91!

The connector is a 3 pin one. So could I just run a wire between the horn button and one of those pins? If so, which pin?

Thanks again.

i believe its the third one along.

Just use a spare bit of wire and test it, ground the wire to the steering column.

For anyone searching in the future. It's the middle prong. Got it working today but need the actual connector. I've got one hopefully coming soon from Lee Dent. It's the only thing it needs to be ready for an MOT now albeit the interior etc could be in better.

I can't just turn that bit at the back due to the screw position. Only has the screw bit opposit each other. Or do I just drill another hole?

Unbolt it from the wheel and reposition.

I tried that mate, but the only way it's straight, is when the Holes for the steering wheel line up with the wrong ones if that makes sense

Ok, I think Funky is wrong. Just been out to look at that backing plate on the car and it looked right in the first place. Unless the connector bit should be at the bottom?

What did I get wrong?

Not quite sure what you're asking....

You said the plastic bit needed to be turned 90° but it doesn't appear to be right. Unless the plug in connector bit should be at the bottom???

No, the connector should be at the top. Looks ok to me.

Brilliant. Thanks mate. Just a bit of confusion, been spending ages looking at this thing, Funky probably laughing his ass off. Will have o give him a dead arm at Coventry lol.

On a plus side, I now have the cruise no horn wiring and the horn button works. Just need to actually connect it up.

Brakes are a little spongy so need bleeding again I think. It otherwise, it's pretty much ready to try and get an mot I think
