Hi guys,

I'm just looking for a Z specialist on the south coast near to Bognor Regis.

Need a Cambelt doing next monthish as I have no idea when it was last changed and one of the idler tensioners are failing.

Cheers in advance

Edd

I know some of the guys use Eurospec in the south east. For a specialist though it's Bristol.

This. Take it to PowerZed. Well worth it.

You got some spanners and a garage aye? ;)

Haha. This is true but I dislike Cambelts on a straight 4 let alone a v6 [emoji23][emoji15]

Probably one of the easiest quad cam cars to do a cam belt on tbh but then garages still manage to *****cks it up.

It looks easy enough having had the front end all stripped down. But in truth, I don't want to mess the girl up. I trust what I'm doing, being a mechanic, but I'd rather let someone else who knows these cars do the work.

Always been a dream car and breaking it is what scares me.....[emoji15] maybe I've just got man up a little.

Your a mechanic? Man the **** up then  in seriousness you've got two choices. Do it yourself or accept the fact that a specialist will require traveling. The only other option is to give it to someone else with the same or less experience and let them cock it up because they do t care as much as you do about your car.

I'll probably man up. But as said it's been my dream car since forever. And I have to work on cars all day everyday. Days off I dislike looking at other cars. But when this Z is my baby. I want to be able to say I've done the work.

If there's thread and stuff for timing points and belt tension then I'll grow a pair and do it myself.

Having looked at it it does look rather quite easy and straight forward [emoji1360]

I could try and write one... But I think it would be much easier for you to give w me a call or something when you get stuck.

You saw the white points, and lone then up and then on the crank pulls there is a Dent and a notch in the housing to line up

Tensioner, just stick an m5 bolt in to depress it and loosen the belt, then it has 3 bolts to remove completely

It's not like it's a piss awkward transverse set up, plenty of room with the fan out and rad if you really want that extra space. Do your homework and follow the service manual for torque settings, teeth count and belt tensioning set up etc. I did mine last time with the engine out and the actual belt change took about 10 minutes with a cup of tea. If your a professional spanner man you will be fine.

It's all good dude. I've just read through that thread you quoted.

Does actually look even move straight for to a longitudinal straight 4 belt.

Think I'll buy the full kit off Zcentre (belt, idlers, water pump, tensioner) and get new cam pulleys as well. So pretty much go all out and give it a bash.

All I need is the correct setup for the teeth distances and the tensioner setup

Cheers dude. I do know what I'm doing. I have to. Just confidence I lack and belt changes have always been a worry when I've done them.

Have you thought to try the German & Jap place in oldlands way Bognor ?

Southern Cross Garage. Totally skipped my mind. I usually take all the broken cars I pick up in Bognor to A&D which is just down the road. I'm a numpty haha

There are a number of quides available for carrying out the Cambelt service as part of the 60k

maintenance. This is the one of them:

That's a lot of reading there but I'm sure I'll be able to digest it and get on with it.

It suggests doing all the cam seals etc, is this 100% necessary?
