The thread "What did you do to you zed today" http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?168270-What-did-you-do-to-your-zed-today/page408 will be closing tonight so members can create their own thread on what they have done. This will make finding/searching for help more easy and with more threads going up the forum it will look more active. This is a trial closure to see how it works and any comments are welcome on this thread.

Although I agree it would be nice to see more in the way of build/project threads, I think that thread still has its place. You're not going to create your own thread just to say things like "washed the car today". It's great for small, regular updates like that.

Yes you have a point there Jay. Maybe we could change the title of the thread in some way that encourages the minor small updates.

Agree on that but at the same time do we want a thread full of -

Washed it,

Looked at it,

Started it,

Thought about putting petrol in it.

lol

Isn't that what Facebook is for?

Would be nice to see the pictures of shinny clean Z's  (Finding it hard to drop my big thread lol)

Isn't that what Facebook is for?

No FB is the one where they lie about how good thier life is, spy on people and slag off people for stuff that's of no consequence to them. Spread propaganda and fake news, particularly about politics or veganism. It's essentially a more interactive version of ITV. I believe people also like to post what they have eaten which is why Simon was banned on here for a good while

I must admit my chrome plating, etc, thread as evolved into my build/document thread and consequently i put my updates there instead of the 'what i did.....thread.

Fake news....never!

At least it's all contained in 1 thread. I don't mind it personally; at least it's not 'what oil should I use in my Z' or 'where can I get spares from - Nissan dealerships cost a fortune'.

Hmm bit far fetched an what you've seen on the news. I do personally dispise clickbait articles and fake news and sorts, to which those people get the block button :D

The nismo which I think is the main UK Facebook Z32 community has (apart from the parts marketplace which is much bigger than our own) lots of tech questions and car updates etc.

Even some frequent members on here choose to post on there instead.

Some people may not agree, and you may just not stand some of the people there and there are different preferences that may be shunned on here (pink drift cars :P).

You may not like it, but it's definitely not people have eaten. All I'm saying is don't knock it if youve never used it and don't know what you're talking about.

Now we await funkysi and his vivid views one he nismo page :)

It was slightly, slightly, tounge in cheek. Thing is Ali, I've had it, twice. Well technically once and still because actually deleting FB is extremely tricky. It's merely inactive and has been for about 8 years. In fact I'm sure I've got inactive Bebo, MySpace and some other shite that we were all signing up for when it was all new. I left it twice because it does my head in and genuinely don't miss the head aches it brings. I regularly advise my wife to delete it to when she's getting fed up of crap people post.

Oh im sure it was, and I don't disagree with what you say about getting rid of them, You can deactivate them but sure you still aren't a complete ghost. Its just you responded to what Andrew was stating about washing cars etc, with some irrelevant stuff about the website as a whole (which sure some can be accurate).

I'm just defending a perspective about the Z community on there.

Nismo UK page is the worst Z32 page on Facebook. Why the hell is it called Nismo 300zx anyway, no such bloody thing.

Facebook pages are not searchable and there is a lot of miss information on them. Not saying they're all bad, there are some very good ones, but there's more qualified information on dedicated forums, it's searchable and it's also good to find out a car's history and most owners document it somewhere.

My point was FB isn't even as good as warranting using it for that.

This is what we want members to do and still have the "What did you do to your Zed today " thread for minor updates.

I'm an inactive member on F/B too for about 4 years.

I like the thread "what did you do" ect.

Also the diversity of the topics are good on here & well modulated.

Small snippets of info about the z might be trivial to some but very helpful for others with much less knowledge.

They've improved a lot in that regard actually, though I think most forum software still does it better.

I can see where Art and others are coming from and after reviewing the "thread" for a few days I am going to keep it open but encourage members to start a new thread if they have a nice project they want to share. Thank you all for your input. :thumbup1:

Best place to put our project threads? Just in z related topics?

Decided my little gem is going to need a lot of help and advice from you guys and would like to keep it all in one place.

We don't have an actual build thread section so we? Wish I'd started one years back, there would be so much in it.

Maybe the admins could open a new area for build threads? Update the forum a little?

That already exists, although it's hidden away a bit and is only available to subscribed members (probably rightly so).
