  • And they have arrived !

  • After the oil got contaminated and slightly washed down with fuel the turbos also ceased up. I decided to strip them and do the rebuild myself as the costs for that at the moment to be done profe

  • Well that was a quick trip, planned to stay to Thursday but unfortunately had to come back earlier.   At least Jimmer now has all parts to start an engine build.   Hopefully we wil

That's what I need mate an indoor cover to keep the dust off. Think I will try a medium in red as I have a SWB.

I wouldnt say it very tight, its nice fitting but its made of a stretchy material so likely can go further.

I dont have the glass fitted yet so it dips in at places and sags.

This is an interior cover only and isnt water proof, its just for keeping the dust off.

Few more jobs ticked off the list today.

First was to get the plexi panel back on; managed it without snapping the bugger.

Next was to fit the spoiler again, so bit of black sticky stuff and a few bolts it sits nicely on the back.

Next job was fitting the new intercoolers.

It was a pain in the arse finding bolts that fitted as they were all too long, but in the end I padded them out with a few washers.

Tried connecting them up first then bolting them in and the pipes seem to stretch off and are at the wrong angle.

How strange. To be fair though I guess being a Chinese made mass production piece variance can be expected. Check out my thread for the indicator mods, there were a few suggestions but Andrew Gs is worked out for me.

Its been 4 weeks nearly since the rear hubs were removed and the knuckles dismantled.

At the time I had real issues getting the bushes off but after much bashing in a vice and the help of a blow torch

I've managed to burn the bushes out and also press the two hicas ball joints out too.

Not the nicest job I've done and I've plenty of cuts and bruises on my hands to go.

Both knuckles are now de bushed and ready for a clean up.

Stuck them in the sand blaster unit and they come up nice and clean

A little bit of grease to assist and a rubber mallet helped get the new poly bushes in place.

Still got two to press in but left them at home so that will have to wait.

O' what a day.

Its been a long and hard day but I've managed to get 90% of the back end reassembled.

Starting off with the pain in the ass knuckles and hub I made a few rookie mistakes getting them back together,

first I lost the bolts, then I got the left and right sides mixed up then I put the whole lot together again and left

out the handbrake / metal dust shield that needs to be sandwiched in-between.

More time wasted on these hubs than the time it took to do the rest.

As I've got big brakes I drilled out the spot welds to get rid of the outer shield part.

Before I put the hubs back on I attached all the new parts to make it easier rather than grapple each part as I went.

All bolted up now and ready to build the hand brake shoes.

I must say every time I mention I job I don't want to do along comes another.

This time it was the hand brake shoes; even with having an actual copy of the manual they are a royal pain in the tits.
