The rebuild has finally started today and so far in a few hours I've managed to completely strip the interior.

 

 

 

Next job on my list is to get both the bumpers, tailgate and bonnet off.

 

After that i'll work on the body panels and stripping down the engine.

New Wiseco Pistons and Eagle Rods now on order ?

Parts have started to arrive.

New Radiator and Oil Cooler.

Very jealous. I can look forward to doing my engine build the year after next with these types of parts. Plenty of other bits to do first.

Sent the sump away to get blasted and painted : charged me only £35

Is sand/grit blasting the inside of an oil sump a good idea?

Only outside was blasted, inside believe it or not is still clean original paint.

 

I will be thoroughly blasting it with water and air to ensure no grit is left in the bottom.

It was all those baffles with their spot welded overlapping seams I was thinking of.

I'll keep blasting it with air until no more comes out. 

I have a 50l compressor and can blast air at nearly 50psi using an air gun I use. 

 

 

 

Big order from SpecialtyZ just landed this morning, hoping it will get through customs and be on route for delivery tomorrow.

Got myself new clutch, flywheel, injectors and the aluminium splash guards.

Everything I’ve ordered stateside has arrived very quickly. My last Z1 order, I still don’t quite understand how it got here so quick, it it was virtually next day.

I experienced that with CZP actually. I’ve generally ordered on a Friday and got delivery the following Monday or Tuesday which I think is fantastic for the distance! FedEx parcel tracking is very helpful too.

That’s a complete joke! Funny a couple months ago it took 2-3 weeks to get a small package of clothes from Northampton to Brighton, but it took under a week to get something from CZP. My wife was pissed as the clothes were for her but I was very pleased [emoji23].

That’s great - exciting time’s and that flywheel does look too clean to put into your car hey! It takes a good week or so to get used to the improved throttle response, which I’ve got to tell you is absolutely fantastic. The in gear pull at motorway speeds is just a world of difference to the stock one. You’ve got lots to look forward to once your car is up and running [emoji1417][emoji3].

I must get myself one of those - mine (what's left of it) is extremely tired nowadays.... Not to mention held together with many, many cable ties....

Yeh,

I think i saw a picture of Garys which made it look very clean, also my original tray looked a bit worn and i thought the metal

one would last longer than an original oem.

Nearly engine build time,

Bearings are now ordered from conceptz and soon as they arrive i should be putting it all together again.

looks like its mid September before i can get the bearings shipped as everything is on back order. ?

Thats not good but guess you can’t do much really. Bit random but I was looking on newera imports website couple days ago and a few customers posted great reviews of them sourcing all sorts of parts from Japan for their cars so might be worth a try.

Found a company yesterday and got a set delivered today.

Should be able to start the build this weekend now.
