To be honest i can only do what i do with a zed.

If it came to another motor i likely would be lost.

I’m finding this build and thread fascinating. Not least because I know next to nothing about engines and wouldn’t have the first clue how to do any of the stuff you’re able to. But also you’re fantastic temperament, Lee.

I’d be absolutely furious and incapable of thinking straight for weeks!

So fair play and good luck! It’ll all be worth it and one corker of a car once finally finished

Not taking any chances with the over fueling we believe one of the injectors is jammed open so out those come.

plan to send them away to get them flow tested.

What Injectors are those and where were they sourced ?

They arrived in Nismo packaging ? One way to tell the authenticity is use a magnifying glass on the spray plate,If the holes are neat and evenly placed apart they are Genuine,If not they are Re drills.I use CZP for loads of parts but i heard some things when it comes to Injectors from them that scared me.

Too long ago now to remember what packaging it was.

Turns over by hand easily.

We think it is a busted Injector which in turn ceased the turbos when the engine failed the first time.

I would bin them Lee personally if thats happened.

How would that cause the turbos to fail.

Not much to say really.

Faulty injectors

Ceased turbo's

metal fragments found in the oil system

Cash flow is at zero now and at this point i dont trust any of the parts i even have to attempt a rebuild.

I know i'm looking at a full rebuild and every component this time will need to be thorughly and professionaly cleaned.

As it stands i'm just about to throw this block in the skip and look for a donor engine.

Lee So sorry for you, I feel your pain. I will do my brakes then leave it till next year. Never give up on your dreams.

Sad news Lee......:classic_sad:

For what it's worth, and if funds allow, I would try and get hold of a decent second hand engine; then drop it straight in so at least you can enjoy driving the car for a while. During which time, you can save for a proper rebuild of your current engine - or at least work on it in stages.

You've put so much time and effort into it Lee - and it's truly stunning - hence I'd be wanting to start enjoying using it. Good luck mate.....:classic_cool:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Not posted on my build thread for a few months so i thought i'd recap and move on.

So here goes :

Back in 2015 my purple zed was written off when it was hit by truck on the m42 while on-route to the NEC car show.

It was hit after i already broke down due to engine failure and pulled into the hard shoulder to get assistance from the RAC,

Luckily the insurance paid out an agreed valuation and the current project started.

The new build which was called the MKII was a more prestige build and the final thing to be done was the engine.

I had an the engine rebuilt with forged pistons, up-rated injectors and also a new ECU to boot it all.

Unfortunately i was dumb enough to reuse the polished plenum from the previous engine that failed without thoroughly giving it

a deep clean.

In the end some fragments of the damaged previous engine made its way into the current engine and was only discovered on the day

that the zed was trailered up to get a mapping session.

Apart from a few unrelated starting issues the route end cause of the new build failing was due to filaments from the old pistons that blew-up.

Where i am now is that i once again have to rebuilt the engine from scratch; but this time everything has to be scrubbed clean to make sure

that no contamination of the previous engine has got into the new engine.

The engine has once again been removed, stripped to the block and the cleaning process has begun.

I'll upload a few pics to show the process shortly.

After the oil got contaminated and slightly washed down with fuel the turbos also ceased up.

I decided to strip them and do the rebuild myself as the costs for that at the moment to be done professionally are just too much.

Here the first one is stripped down.

Took me most of the day to clean these but using an air gun, wd40 and a can brake cleaner i got them to near new condition again.

On assembly i used fresh oil to lubricate the bearings and everything fitted together again perfectly.

I now have two turbos with freely spinning shafts and propellers.
