  • And they have arrived !

  • After the oil got contaminated and slightly washed down with fuel the turbos also ceased up. I decided to strip them and do the rebuild myself as the costs for that at the moment to be done profe

  • Well that was a quick trip, planned to stay to Thursday but unfortunately had to come back earlier.   At least Jimmer now has all parts to start an engine build.   Hopefully we wil

Nothing has been powder coated.

The filings that were found were on the passenger side only.

Not sure how they got there, but plan to take the plenum off tomorrow and give it a good look at.

The tops of the cylinders looked ok and intact when using the borascope.

That’s a fair bit of material... definitely metal? Have a look in the intercoolers and see if anything is there. Don’t forget that the Turbos feed the opposing bank.

You’ve got a compressor I assume. Do you know anyone with a leak down tester?

They are not filings,That is material from an engine thats suffered some sort of massive failure,One of those parts looks like a piece of piston ring. Are those intercoolers from your first Build Lee ? Were they new, or second hand ones ?

Intercoolers were purchased from a member but were brand new as they were wrapped and ends were sealed.

Plenum however came from the previous build that we know blew up back in 2015.

Now i clearly remember hosing that thing down in and out before fitting to this build but its possable thats where the material came from.

I'll have the engine stripped again tomorrow and hopefully i got lucky as the engine as is never started; it was only cranked over.

And gearbox now off too.

Wow your a master dismantler now, I’m still fiddling taken months, puts me to shame but I don’t have the car where I live hour away across London. Good luck hops it’s not bad news.

Despite the huge setbacks you have encountered Lee, you keep going. Very impressive to say the least. Watching

you single handedly manhandling the heavy bits of your car with speed and precision makes me think you would

have probably been pretty good at this!

As far as the debri in the plenum i can only guess that it came from the purple rain engine that blew up.

I was sure that the plenum was cleaned out but i may have cleaned another as i have a few spare.

This time no more chances as its getting a good rinse and degrease in a bath.

Not taking any chances with the over fueling we believe one of the injectors is jammed open so out those come.

plan to send them away to get them flow tested.

Silly question but I take it you didn’t pinch an o ring or have damage to the insulation blocks that hold the rail did you?

I’m finding this build and thread fascinating. Not least because I know next to nothing about engines and wouldn’t have the first clue how to do any of the stuff you’re able to. But also you’re fantastic temperament, Lee.

I’d be absolutely furious and incapable of thinking straight for weeks!

So fair play and good luck! It’ll all be worth it and one corker of a car once finally finished
