The rebuild has finally started today and so far in a few hours I've managed to completely strip the interior.

 

 

 

Next job on my list is to get both the bumpers, tailgate and bonnet off.

 

After that i'll work on the body panels and stripping down the engine.

Also dismantled all the interior of the tailgate so I can get the cables out and bolts slackened.

 

Plan to get it all off tomorrow but couldn't lift it myself so just left it tonight.

 

Lastly undone all the bolts and got the bumper off.

 

Great work, how are you planning to take the front and rear screens out, I will be doing mine at some time.

I have a removal kit, its basically a cheese wire with two wooden handles.

 

The current tailgate is not the one i'm using as I recovered the tailgate off the last zed, although the glass will be getting removed.

 

I also have a brand new front screen stashed up my loft which I also removed from the last zed.

Worked on the replacement battery tray today which arrived during the week.

 

I had to drill out the old spot welds first then I used the blast booth to strip down the old dirt and paint from it.

 

 

Gave them a blast of undercoat then sprayed them again with some gloss.

 

 

 

Also gave the battery area a quick going over, wasn't too worried about how it looks as the full lot will be redone in matt

black when it goes for its proper respray.

 

Had the zed out in the sun today, nearly, for the first time in over 6 months.

 

 

I took the jet wash to the engine bay area to clean as much oil and other crap off.

 

 

Originally planned to get it all steam cleaned but couldn't find anywhere close to hire a cleaner.

 

 

After it was done I wiped all the excess water away with a towel then let her dry in the sun for an hour.

Finally pushed back into storage with the rest of the collectables.

 

Still slowly working on the zed and prepping it for its respray :)

 

But as the zeds been off the road I've been stockpiling a few parts over the last year that the list has a few goodies on it.

Yea but by the time you pay shipping and taxes it's gonna be a lot more isn't it, I would guess up around £2250. Before the pound crashed might have got it for more like £1600 at a guess

Front screen now out, took me an hour but managed it with a cheap ebay kit.

 

Taking on the tailgate glass tomorrow.

 

After salvaging the old tailgate from my breaker last year I need to get the glass out again.

 

Already pulled the rubbers off but need to get the glass out without it shattering.

 

Good luck, what parts can be saved when taking front and rear glass out.

The side outer trims can be kept if you remove them carefully but you will need new retainers which are glued in to the

sides of the metal of the left and right sides of the front windscreen.

 

For the back likely replace all the trims unless you can figure how to get the glass out without damaging anything.

Front glass out and bonding areas cleaned up with a wire brush.

 

The bare metal will be primed again shortly to protect it.

 

 

Started on the tailgate by taking the spoiler off and also worked on the glass to get that out.

 

Only managed to carefully cut three sides but i'm stuck on the top section and I think I may

need to cut through the plastic retainer clips to get it off without force.
