Being honest I doubt it, the paint isn't mint, and the modifications aren't to everyone's tastes. For a car to sell at that price my consensus would have to be good condition 100 %, or a high quality show car.

Assuming it's as described then, maybe. Certainly demands a high price. Worse ones on paper have been up for not much less in the grand scheme. I think the average is now about 3.5-4k and this cars double the quality of average. Be interesting to see if it sells.

What mods? The wheels of the GB sticker?

Despite what the overnight expert says I think it could get close to that price. It's in good condition and it's all there. It seems the price of these cars are on the up which can only be a good thing for us that already own them.

Exhaust, tint (and wheels). and the paint on the front bumper is faded and chipped.

I'm not an expert it was an opinion. It not a perfect car, and i've seem better ones sell for less, but it is good news for prices if it does sell of course

Is there just me that thinks it looks a little... tatty...?

The paint finish looks super-flat, the lower edge of the front bumper is chipped and scuffed... just looks unloved to my eyes!

Hard to say. That KH6 iirc is a bitch to photograph. The flecks in it make it look dull or dirty, you need the sun on it to show the true potential of that colour code. It's a funny one.

That bonnet slam panel is going to be a b****r to remove.

I had the same one a few years back. It wasn't too bad. I felt the fit ment was poor though and ended up chopping the left and right sections off the damn thing.

its worth whatever someone is willing to pay. putting a price a car that is becoming rarer each day is becoming harder. there seem to be more wanted threads than selling so...who knows

I'm put off by the fact he hasn't bothered looking into the hicas light. As I understand it, a little basic knowledge/a quick google will tell you it's probably low fluid and just needs topping up. That he didn't know/couldn't be bothered doesn't scream to me that it has been well looked after enough to justify that price. Bit harsh maybe but still.

Condition is more important than low mileage (but low mileage and good condition would be nice) and the condition of that Z is not looking good.

My thoughts too.....

......Although granted, perhaps the photos don't do it justice; but my initial opinion was also that the paintwork doesn't appear too great....

However values are on the up for tidy, unmolested, cars and if the paint is good (irrespective of the how the photos look), then why not? But I do concede there are most definitely better examples out there for the money:wink:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

A Jimmer built engine recently sold for over £6K. on that basis a solid engine and a solid car I think could justify £7.5K. That isn't either?

Saying that it must still be worth £5-6K surely?

Why is it, when ever I see a picture of a Z's fuel gauge, they never show over 1/3? Looking back through my pictures its always on E and yet I use my car daily and fill her to the top each time! Every picture on eBay = same thing...

1990 Black MT NA LWB = 2014 - 2020 (Sold)

1991 Red MT TT LWB = 2015 - 2017 (Stripped & Scrapped)

1991 Red MT TT LWB = 2017 - 2021 (Sold)

1991 Black MT TT LWB = 2018 - 2021 (Sold)

1989 Red AT TT LWB = 2021 - XXXX (Kept)

I rarely top my car. Fuel loses octane really quickly, most people don't use their cars as daily drivers. I'm not filling my car with Tesco's finest only for it to lose octane - I don't want my TT running on lower octane fuel due to phase separation. It would take me about 2 months to get through a tank of fuel, but which time it would be rated at regular 95 - in addition, I'd be hauling around extra weight with me unnecessarily.

The only time I do brim mine is when I take it on a long road trip.

So petrol looses its bang after such a short time? I knew it went stale after its been in a tank for years. Didnt know it could loose it in a few weeks. I cant afford Tescos Finest in my NA so I settle for 95 with a tank of finest ever couple of weeks to treat her...

It doesn't go stale over such a short period, but its octane rating does diminish, even 3 or 4 points can turn what was super UL into regular 95. It's especially important for TT models with higher boost levels and a different map geared for a 97ron or higher. I wouldn't put 95 anywhere near my car unless it was the only fuel available and I'd drive in vacuum as much as possible. 95 is fine for NA cars, but on TTs, I wouldn't want any chance of detonation and having older fuel in my tank would increase that risk.

Olefinic breakdown. The higher the initial octane, the faster the degradation is, and it is accelerated by Oxygen and Temperature. A 1/4 tank of high octane fuel in a warm climate will suffer Olefinic breakdown much faster than a Full tank in colder climates.

But what about when the tanks are in the same conditions? Does less oxygen in the full tank mean it's better?

The breakdown is accelerated by the amount of exposure to air the fuel is subjected to. So a Full tank will degrade slower than 1/4 of a tank because there is a smaller volume of air within the tank itself. There are other variables between suppliers too, related to additive content in fuels.

hmm I think this will appeal to the right buyer due to the miles and I reckon it looks better in the flesh. I think it would go for around 5K at the moment, but more if they waited. And to be fair the wheels have added a grand to price if they are genuine, so I reckon that is not advertised too far off.

My Blue zed was in worse condition cosmetically with more miles and that sold 2 years ago for 4k. I then bought it back 6 months later for 3 grand but still :D

If they're genuine? They're cast replicas of Volk TE37 wheels and I'm not convinced about the proposed £2000 price tag unless he fitted some very expensive tyres. Rota wheels are "relatively cheap" in comparison to the originals on which they were based; the TE37 are high quality forged wheels and would likely cost up to £1000+ per corner without tyres.

Oops I quickly browsed and thought they were TE37s... My bad :D

  • 4 months later...

Aww this makes me sad as it is my car you are talking about. Good to learn about the HICAS.
