Now that I have been driving the 300zx for a few days after months of driving ordinary saloon cars I just love the way the Super HICASS helps the Z turn into corners at high speed. It feels very quick, solid and safe and brings a smile to my face every time. Thank you Nissan for this expensive mod you have put on our cars. Now bring on the HICASS haters so I can advise you how wrong you are.:gunsmilie:

I suspect the phrase has been coined. Ie it's always been super HICAS but the super prefix has been dropped and applied to define the early vs late design.

Does sound like a reasonable explanation. No more arguing :thumbup1:

Andrew stop being silly, you're wrong. There's no way that Marketing brochure by Nissan is correct, Wiki is independently verified so I'm with Ali on this one (sarcasm meter full scale deflection).

I understand yours and Andrews doubts, but was merely trying to resolve this kerfuffle, not saying he was wrong.

It wasn't just me under the impression that there was hicas and super hicas otherwise we would not have this discussion.

Wikipedia and some skyline article. (i know, i know) but it seems widely accepted on the internets

To be clear I'm not starting a fight, I am having a discussion

The Skyline system is rather different as it uses all the information you suggested to control its active AWD system and suspension. R34 onward. It uses a separate computer to that of the HICAS.

The early and old style HICAS found in the Z32 are pretty much identical, it's only by way of actuation where they differ. The main brains are similar, if not the same and do not measure yaw, g-rate, speed at which the steering wheel is being turned or any of that. They take a speed input from the dash and one from the steering angle which is taken from the HICAS sensor found behind the steering wheel.

All the other stuff you mentioned is all stuff collected in a separate systems on the R34+ models of the Skyline.

Oops I've started something again,

I get bored at work and go through our archives of old brochures, probably read a skyline one then, just ment I prefer the electric system, sure there nothing wrong with it but never liked the idea of running my power steering fluid under to the back of the cars,

Just got my 1989 product guide out, it's referred to as super hicas so guess I'm wrong lol...

Probably best to get back on topic lol.

So can we say that there is a noticeable difference between electronic and hydraulic SUPER HICAS?

Only in weight. There should be no noticeable difference in handling, they do exactly the same thing.

Without a driving liecence it won't make a Gnats cock.

Implying I can't have a discussion about whether electric or hydraulic HICAS is better?

As I've said before, for my the enjoyment of owning my car comes from the modifying of the car, and the community (and meets and whatsuch).

Whether I get a driving licence in a couple weeks or a couple months won't change anything.

Alright leave the rod on the bank. Just baiting you. However it won't make any difference parked will it? lol you won't have it anyways on the NA.

The NA is a car I'm pretty sure I'll never drive, once it's fixed up I really won't have a need for it. The plan was to switch bits and bobs that were broken, fix it up and sell it on.

Also It won't be parked if you've seen the Coventry list (+more), that'll be the first time this year it will stretch its legs tbh.
