Now that I have been driving the 300zx for a few days after months of driving ordinary saloon cars I just love the way the Super HICASS helps the Z turn into corners at high speed. It feels very quick, solid and safe and brings a smile to my face every time. Thank you Nissan for this expensive mod you have put on our cars. Now bring on the HICASS haters so I can advise you how wrong you are.:gunsmilie:

I'll be in a far better position to comment next week, Gaz. My Hicas was fixed (new arms and balljoints) by Lee Dent last week and I'm having a four wheel alignment done this coming Monday, so I'm hoping I'll be able to feel a nice difference from previously :thumbup1:

I've got a replacement HICAS ram for mine waiting to go on from as low mileage breaker as one of the seals shows signs of leaking when going to replace the arms. Everything else has been replaced, new joints etc.

So much better to fix it rather than bin it. Ok it might cost more to fix but the advantages of having a working HICASS is worth it plus it will add to the value of your Z to have all the factory parts there and working. (even the electric aerial Si :) )

Believe it or not, that's actually going back on as well as the rear wiper! I've got all the parts! :)

I think I'd actually rather try HICAS than the turbos.

I've driven all - turbos beat ALL!

I told you not to remove them lol. OEM is the way to go and I like the retro electric aerial it is so 1980's - 90's and suits the 300zx.

Indeed - a stupid mistake. My mind wasn't on the job at the time as I was going through a messy relationship breakup! Regretted it ever since (and the relationship)!

All part of life and we mature with age to see the light mate. Do you remember the blue diamonds I had on the studs of the split wheels on my black Z :blushing:

Yeah, well I'm gradually going back to stock....well, not too much. All the mechanical upgrades and wheels are staying, as are all the brand new OEM parts of course, I've changed the interior to a series 2 and prefer it, it's much quieter too. Just some smaller detail like the wiper arm, spoiler and aerial to do and that's it really. Spoiler isn't going to be OEM though, but a TwinZ Type 1 like Joel's.

....no, not sure I do remember! lol

I'm still glad I removed my aerial. I do understand why you guys like it and I get the retro cool thing, but I had no real reason to keep mine. On my first zed I regularly used the FM radio and my electric aerial was forever up and down (time it right when turning the ignition on and going straight the the boot - and the aerial would try spearing you up the nostril!!), but I don't think I've ever used the telescopic aerial on my red Z. I mainly use Spotify or radio via an app so I really did become redundant.

Having seen Simon and others smooth it over, I decided to do the same as I think it looks a little neater across that rear quarter and it's one less "pain in the ass" area to detail! It's not going back, neither is the rear wiper for the same reasons, much the same reason why I have a twinz rear spoiler and not a stock spoiler.

As for the HICAS, yes that's staying [emoji106]

My aerial doesn't work - I may get this repaired at some point just so it works but I don't need it as I updated my radio to DAB so I have an aerial on the windscreen instead.

As for HICAS - I wasn't sure when I first got the car as it does feel very different to any other car I've driven but now I do like it. I suppose my confidence has increased with it - its great on the country roads:thumbup1:

Matt Farah said it felt unatural at high power (500+), but can't comment personally

If you can hear the motor working in the electric aerial then you just need a new antenna mate.

So no HICASS haters yet:) Where's Danny boy?

Wouldn't listen to him. His favourite Z32 on the forum is a white Z32 shorty on 19s....he 'hates' white and 'hates' 19s. ;)

I'm not sure tbh Gary... is there a switch somewhere to make it come up? Its never been up since I've had the car...

Unless someone's fitted a switch, no. They take a pulse from the HU. You can try popping the connector in the boot and running 12v through it.

I'll have a look tomorrow as I have a day off "sprucing the car up" ahead of Sunday:)

I think I'm just turning into AndrewG!

That's an interesting mental image...

Meanwhile, back on topic: my electric aerial works perfectly but I've disabled it at the head unit because I never ever listen to the radio. But it's still fitted and shall remain so, just because :)

I hate the Ariel. It's there but inactive, I don't have a stereo anymore anyway. I may well ditch it completely.

I hated hicas. Both broken and fixed I found it unnearving. The way it would create this floating feeling as if the car was just about to slip. Then when it did slip the thing became dumb witted and slow causing fish tails as I could never decide how much to correct. Nice gimmick and great for wafting around but when your going some. No thanks.

Are your tyres good? No floating from mine unless it is a wet or greasy road but any car will slid in the wet.

A properly set up and maintained HICAS system works just fine for me and I'm happy to leave it in place. To be honest I don't

notice it operating which is probably as Nissan intended when developing the Z32 over 25 years ago.

Today a number of very high performance cars including the Ferrari F12tdf, Lamborghini Centenario LP 770-4 and Porsche 911

GT3 all have rear wheel steering which operate on the same principles as the HICAS system. I would have thought those

manufacturers must see a benefit to have included the system for their customer's driving experience.

Can either you or si put up what bits you used to do the arial relocation as it's the only thing that bugs me on the Z:innocent:
