Just looked on the JAE site for 2016 and wow has that got a dear game!!! £45 per person advanced tickets and an extra £15 per person if paying on the gate!! jeez so if there is a family of four in a single car paying on the gate that is £240 smackers !!! Jeez the nerve of the organisers` the show has dipped in quality year on year but the prices go up?? love how they are selling the tickets as 4 day event, so ok Thursday turn up and see nothing! Friday see some clubs and traders setting up, Saturday best day of the four, Sunday 12 noon everyone packing up ! how is that a four day event?

The days of JAE at Billing Aquadrome with £15 entrance and a great venue are well gone, at these kind of prices I cannot see how it is viable attraction to clubs and club members, glad for you guys the forum made a great decision to meet at the Coventry Museum instead, such as shame the Z32 is not in big numbers here, now that would be a proper meet !

In my opinion JAE has always been overhyped.

If I wanted to pay a small fortune to go camp in a field I'd much rather go to Le Mans - at least there is a half decent race to watch whilst there.

I've done JAE twice, the second time only because it was the only show I could make that year due to work commitments and wanted to catch up with friends. Both times it was dire.

Generally in the UK single day events are better organised, better attended, and better entertainment value.

What do you get for your hard earned?

A weekend of thinking why is this so expensive..apart from having banter with our own members i always consided JAE as a complete rip off and one year my missus went to the main office demanding money back as it was that bad..

That bad!? Christ.

My best year was right down in essex by the sea..cant think of the place right now but 2 members i met down there and always wanted to was Mr Joely P and Viniboy. The place was right at the ends of the earth and imho the best location by far:cool3:

Haha ends of the earth.

It was Mersea island, which was my first year at JAE 2008 iirc, the year Big Kim, Steve, AndyP, Vinniboy, JoelyP, Trish, IanL etc was there, was a great little venue with a nice atmosphere and it was the end of August and the weather was great, its been poor ever since and gradually got worsenow its not at Wicksteed park.

Thats the year Graham...was my 1st year on committee iff i remember correctly.

I've been at JAE every year since 2009 and last year was my last and that was decided on before I knew the prices went up.

The move away from Kettering was a big mistake and apart from entering the show and shine last year I never really enjoyed it.

2015 was the year to end it for the club and I doubt we are going to support it again as a club; at least i'm not.

This was the year of the big storm. My tent was swimming after I peeled it off that metal fence.

Ahhh!-the good old days..........

I think the price has become stupid this year. Tbh, I thought last years increase was boarderline too much. Shame as I always make the effort to go but I'm not paying that much for it.

Shame it isn't in mersea anymore as its pretty much on my doorstep.

It's less than 20 miles from my house but I'm also not going due to the price.

I remember when me and a couple of other guys from the Z Club started the whole thing back in 1994 at Billing Aquadrome when a few said "god the entrance to Billing is a bit dear" and it was cheap as chips then

IMHO it grew into an absolute monster that became to big for anyone to do in their spare time an example of this was the one before last at Billing that I offered to take on again took me seven and half months of my evenings and weekends to organise and as nobody else came forward to take the following years event on it was passed over to an event company to do

Billing cost nothing to hire where as the move to Peterborough,Mersea Island,Wickstead and now Newark show ground must cost a fortune to hire and the amount of staff they need to run the event must be huge and a financial nightmare to break even

Although the original event had to move from Billing due to being to big and the facilities at Billing were getting old and inadequate It is nice to remember what great time were had there by everybody and it is a shame that a lot of people on here did not have the chance to enjoy them as it was the fore runner of all of the Japanese related car shows in this country

Although it was basic compared to now days boy was it fun

Oh and was not the year of the big storm at Peterborough Showground

Bird you are getting so old now your memory is going!!

The monster has outgrown the cage now Steve for sure. Don't know about anybody else but I would be happy to jut meet up with fellow Zedders and just look at each others cars and have the ability to talk face to face over a few drinks (or no drinks) All this fancy dress, loud music and big money events are not what I want. Getting to old like most of us. Time to get back to basics and looking forward to the AGM at Coventry to hear what the members want from the club.

Have to agree, I went to JAE at Billing a couple of times in the early 2000s and remember it being full of nice cars, and a fair bit of static stuff going on. Was a good laugh and not too expensive

Then went to it once when it moved somewhere else nearby in Northants, with a drift oval added (around 2004-2006)

The only other time I attended was last year at Newark, and chose the Sunday as was working on Sat.... which was a bad choice!!!

Dead right Gary.......

.....JAE is not the show it once was - and the outrageous entry price this year was the nail in JAE's coffin, as far as it being our club's main event.

Not to mention, that peoples' as well as the club's idea of a major event have moved on also. Shows like Simply Japanese at Beaulieu have proved that - without sounding old and past it; what does JAE offer nowadays? Nothing but standing around in a field, sleeping in a tent and getting drunk; whereas other events give you the chance to bring along your wives, girlfriends, families etc., as they provide other attractions aside from the cars, a field and....you get it! And they don't cost you the earth to participate!

Hence we are staging another "Coventry" meet this year; which will serve as our main event of 2016. We'll also be holding our AGM for subscribed members, wherein we'll be happy to hear everyone's thoughts for future events.....!

Richard:cool:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I have to say, I've only ever been to JAE twice; once in 2010 (I think) with the Celica Club and last year with this club.

The first year I went, I went for the whole weekend and, to be honest, I found myself a little bored quite early on. Yes, there were lots of activities - It's A Knockout against the MR2 lot was eventful - but once you've walked round and admired all the cars you like, you're a bit stuck in my opinion.

Last year was a costly affair as Fran and I wound up taking two cars and, even though we only went for one night, I found that was enough. The main highlight for me was catching up with people from here and meeting members who I'd only ever spoken to online. The show itself didn't quite seem big enough for the size of the new venue and it all felt a bit disjointed.

I'm far more enthusiastic about being part of a Zed-specific show at Coventry this year than I ever could be about JAE.....

Well its official 300zx.co.uk will not be attending JAE this year and it is probably the first time we have not held a stand there. Of course any member wanting to go can tag onto other clubs attending and we look forward to any feed back from the show.

So we will be concentrating on our own unique event at Coventry where the z32 300zx will be the stars of the show and in years to come we can build on the show and invite other Z clubs to join us. (If that is what the member want)Every thing is open to discussion at the AGM so be there and have your say.
